Short answer, yeah, I question him all the time, and no, he doesn't get mad like that. He might get angry while defending his position, but not mad at me for having an opinion.

I don't want to make a pop psych pocket diagnosis or hurt your feelings, but it does sound as if he's got some emotional issues and acts borderline abusive. This just doesn't sound normal to me.
