It has been a year since this happened...I saw this lady recently and she asked me to go to dinner or something sometime soon.... For several years I was good friends with "Pam". She invited me to start being a fill-in for her Bunco group and I went to several Bunco parties when they were short a person (I do not live in a neighborhood and this was her neighborhood Bunco group). At one point I mentioned that I was short on money, just that particular time. She later called me and said that she had spoken to "Susan" (another Bunco player who I barely knew) and told her about my financial problem and that they had discussed it and thought it would be a great idea for me to come to a Bunco party and paint everyone's toenails and they would all pitch in pay me $50. I was very offended. She didn't understand why and said that if it were her, she would do it. I kind of stopped talking to her after that but she never knew really why.
Recently we ran into Pam and I talked to her a few minutes, she mentioned getting together, etc. Later my 8-year-old daughter asked me why I never do things with Pam anymore and I told her in very simple terms what had happened. My 8 year old said, "That's like telling you that you're not really part of the party, isn't it mom?"
I like Pam, but she never understood that this hurt my feelings and I am just not comfortable being around her now. Am I wrong?
