Thank you for the information. I'll keep searching and keep North Wildwood in mind too.

Welcome to Wildwood
Hi, I live across the channel from Wildwood Crest. If I were you I would definitely stay in the Crest. Wildwood is more city-ish if you know what I mean. The Crest is more family oriented.
Also if you like the beach, the beach in Wildwood is much wider meaning by the time you walk from the street to the water you're exhausted. The beach in the Crest is not quite as wide. The boardwalk starts from the fist street in the Crest (northern end) and proceeds north through Wildwood and into North Wildwood.
North Wildwood is also nice. The beach there isn't quite as wide either. I can recommend some good restaurants if you like. I hope you enjoy your stay!
RE: Wildwood, New Jersey
Our family and our friends and their family are going to Wildwood this summer. A neighbor told us to stay in Wildwood Crest, but I noticed that staying in plain old Wildwood is a whole lot cheaper. For those of you who have gone or live in New Jersey, is there really such a big difference between Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. There will be nine of us and I'm trying to find a rental for the week. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Go with the Crest or North Wildwood
I grew up in Wildwood Crest and my mother still lives there. While it might be cheaper to stay in Wildwood itself, there's a reason for that. I would definitely go with either Wildwood Crest or North Wildwood. Both are much nicer than the City of Wildwood. North Wildwood has bars and part of the boardwalk. The Crest is a dry town so no bars and it tends to be quieter.
Wildwood has the boardwalk and great water park but otherwise not much to offer, and its easy enough to get from one to the other so I would definitely recommend NOT staying in Wildwood. You'll see the difference when you get there.
Have a great time!!!
