Why do they cry and beg to not go?

Are they being abused or molested? That's a strange reaction to get from them just because it's boring at Grandma's house. I only ask because every family has skeletons in the closet, and we found out years later that someone in our family liked little girls a bit too much. Why does grandma want the kids to sleep over? Can't they just visit for a while and come home?
Then again, I can see the kids' point. I had one grandmother who lived in a little apartment and had nothing for kids to play with. She'd eat her KFC dinner on a TV tray in front of the TV. I never really liked going over there. My other grandmother had a big yard with a pool and lots of cousins and neighbor kids to play with. She had trees to climb, toys to play with and a huge garden. She was always baking and was just the "grandmotherly" type.
I don't know that the other grandmother ever really liked kids that much. She'd buy me collectible dolls that I wasn't allowed to play with or I'd ruin them. What's the point of having them if you can't even play with them? I never spent the night at her place.
