I speak to them in the elevator, say Good Morning make small talk.
With the exception of one Asian female co-worker, they never seem to respond, make eye contact or try to make friends or be nice to others.
Are their lives so unhappy they can't smile or make eye contact?
These are educated people, who speak perfect english.
Am I excepting too much?

I don't have to prove one thing to you - who DE h*ck are you in this medium?.......and you know the 1000s and 1000s of Wal-Mart employees throughout this country? Doubtful.
Suffice to say, my dear friend hurt HER back working for Wal-Mart 10 years ago and they gave her such a hard time............and I witnessed the hard time.
Guess you like that they opened up 15 stores in China just 6 months ago too........*snickers*
In any event, try to have a GREAT holiday !!
I am an Asian Pacific Islander
However, I was born in the U.S. I have found that Asian women who was not born in these United States are a little scared of loud-talking, abrasive people in general. It is generally not being unfriendly, just uncertain of the culture they find themselves having to adapt to.
Yes..in the small shops that are Asian run...many to..
choose from. My sis and I saw one lady buy $500 worth of purses, we counted 15 that she had. Every top of the line brand you can imagine. Next year when we go I am bringing and extra suitcase to haul more home! We ate at LA Mela, a fabulous Italian restaurant on Mulberry Street. Sis and I are Italian, so we know good, homemade Italian food and this was top notch! We and our spouses ate and had a bottle of wine, only paid $130 for all of us.
Asian chicken mini skewers
Marinate cubed chicken breast, about 2", in Teriyaki sauce with lemon zest overnite in a storage back. Soak wooden (round)toothpicks in water about 30 mintues before skewering. Set oven to 400º. Skewer once piece of chicken per toothpick. Place on lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes. If you want, heat the left over sauce on the stove for 20 minutes, until reduced. (You must cook it before using it to avoid contamination). Braise chicken skewers with sauce reduction immediately after removing from oven.
The Asian people I come in contact with are quite friendly with SM
good senses of humor.
I'm trying to be tactful, but you may be the one sending the wrong vibe.
Fellow workers, you are gonna be proud of me!
I just sent email to a national morning program, has a guy and girl on there. I was watching the other morning, a wife and son on explaining about how her husband suffered extensively with pain, unable to get medications because, you know, some call it drug seeking? Well, come to find out through son being tested, this father had some sort of syndrome (sorry, do not remember the name) and finally died having suffered for years, unable to live a decent life, bedridden. On the panel was the wife, son, a physician and another person The wife started to say something and was cut off immediately but the lady host saying "Well, are you a physician?" The wife said no and the host said "Well, let the doctor speak then." I wrote this host this morning to let her know IF she worked in the field she would know physicians make plenty of mistakes- we clean them up all the time, right? I said people who do not know tend to hold physicians up as gods but if you worked in this field you would certainly know better. I tried to get Megace for hubby 1 time because not eating, lost appetite, starving actually and was told by physician would not help. I switched doctors, got the prescription and hubby regained appetite. Having typed on that for aid in TB patients as well as human immunovirus patients in regaining appetites, I knew better. I feel a whole lot better about myself right now!!
God bless ya! I can always count on my computer savy co-workers SM
for answers! Thanks again. I had that terrible question rolling around in my head all day and worrying myself to death.
This will be a lesson well learned in the future.
Dirty store and nasty workers. Wanted to clarify

American or Asian Indian? Culture difference might explain his odd behavior.

Wal-Mart does offer health insurance to their workers. Wal-Mart pays part and the employee SM
pays part of the premium. Just like other companies do.
