While it is a great time to buy...

the banks are very picky now who they are lending money to. DH and I just this morning refinanced our mortgage to 4.8% but our lender (Countrywide) let us know the type of person they are looking for. We have been with them for 15 years, have a great pay history, never late, always pay extra on the principal each month, have a credit score of 805 and no debt but our home. They told us the rates are high for anyone not at 700 or above credit score, anyone with any unmanageable debt (including car payments) and now MUST prove income (which is great compared to how anyone could get a loan not too long ago). Make a few calls and see what rate you can get. We were also offered a 3.75% for 15 years, which is fabulous. We only owe 160,000 on our home, so we jumped at the chance to just drop a full point down to 4.8% on a 30 year and may even take the 15 year. Good luck.

It was a great time - I just hate the time we are in now
I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.
I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.
I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).
I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.
Have a Great Time
Even though I'm not a country music lover, I love Tim. Relax and have fun.
This time of year can be great but
Dealing with in-laws is awful sometimes. I just need to vent so whoever does not want to hear it you mine as well stop reading now. My father-in-law is crazy and I mean he is bipolar. He thinks he is so innocent and people are out to get him when he stirs up trouble constantly. This is the first time we have seen him at Christmas in 3 years. He has caused trouble with my BIL and SIL and they have wrote him off yet again. My hubbie says he does not want to do that because of the fact of what if something happens to him, he would regret it. He wants to be forgiving which I understand it is his dad, but oh my gosh he stood in our living room last night and told us a bunch of lies which I am know for a fact are lies and then starts preaching to us about people and unforgiveness. I was getting so mad I wanted to cry right there and I could not go to sleep last night I was so frustrated. AAAHHHAAHHH!!
Anyways just wanted to vent. I do love this time of the year with the decorations and Christmas music just could do with a little less of the drama. I wish people did not have to be dumb sometimes. Okay I am done, Thanks for letting me vent!!
Yippy! Have a great time. Now you
can do a little shopping, LOL.
I'd have a ball in Yellowstone. Just be careful around the beautiful scalding lakes!
If you have time, you might want to use Google Earth and see what you can see from there.
Congrats, have a great time!........nm

Ribs would be great cos you can do them ahead of time

Was having a great time (Beware, long rambling:-)
while I was scooping the back so thought I'd try to get a couple of pics for DH, who is gone for the next 10 days for work. He's a labradoodle that we got last summer at 4 months old and before anyone jumps in here and says they're overpriced mutts (which they are ) we got him from a shelter in another city. All of the dogs I have had have been from shelters and would never pay hundreds or thousands when there are so many dogs that need homes. We saw a brown one last summer that DH fell in love with, so I did some searching and this shelter had several. The others had been picked up as strays, a couple of older dogs and several puppies, which I guess all but a couple died from parvo. Jake was turned in by a family who thought he was too energetic for their 2-year-old. He had kennel cough, we discovered, when we got him home and was sick for a few weeks, but not too bad a case, had some snotty nose and coughing, was really worried about pneumonia, but the vet said to go ahead and give him the vaccine and sometimes that helps them get over it a little easier. He's got a nice combination of lab and poodle coat, needs to be raked once a week or so, but he doesn't shed. He's a little pill for sure but I think is going to be a great dog with a little more work. He's still pretty ~boisterous~ you might say on walks. I'm a Dog Whisperer fan, just love that show and Cesar Millan, so we ordered the collar that he uses on that show, and it really is making a huge difference. Also, I was really impressed when we got it. How many things do you find these days that are made in the US? His packaging on the collar had ~~we proudly support our country, made in the USA~~!! Even more of a fan now!
I have been checking out boxer rescues and if we can afford a home of our own, hopefully next year sometime, I'd like to get a pal for him. I'm actually a big boxer fan from way back, have a pic mom took of me as a baby in diapers sitting in the middle of a litter of boxer puppies with them crawling all over me! a wonder any of us grew up, huh , with all the things we came in contact with like that, she'd probalby get hauled away for child abuse these days. Dad found the mamma boxer wandering the country roads one hot summer day when he was hail adjusting. She was struggling, pregnant, really hot and thirsty, so he brought her home, no one ever claimed her, so Duchess became a part of our family. I had a boxer some years ago that I adopted from a puppy mill raid, where I helped take care of some of the dogs that were rescued, 200 and some of all varieties and ages, mostly all sick, filthy, malnourished, etc. in the the middle of January, below zero, snow, and a lot of them kept outside with no shelter, was a horrible mess, but people in that town really stepped up to the plate, donated all kinds of food, leashes, collars, bedding, vets donated their services, and all but a few of the dogs (too sick and had to be put down) were adopted. Duke was a very sick pup at first and didn't know if he'd make it, but he was a wonderful dog with my kids when they were young!
Anyway, just sitting here browsing the board and rambling on...By the way Hayseed, I visited your website the other day because I wanted to see your web cam (really cool!) and saw you had an RIP pic for Arf, sorry for your loss. I remember you said awhile back you thought it wouldn't be long but must have missed when he passed and crossed the bridge.
Update: We went ice skating yesterday pm and he had a great time (sm)
I told him we are going to look into more places where he can go and do the types of things he likes to do. However, I do disgree that there is anything wrong with other sports...to each his/her own. If someone loves ball sports, I don't see that as making them a "follower". Everyone has an aptitude for different things. Thanks for all the suggestions and insight everyone!
Sounds great..Question about baking time/temp..sm
How long do you bake the muffins and at what oven temp? These sound wonderful & so much easier than making pumpkin bread. Thanks!
Their scoops are GREAT. I have perfectly shaped cookies all the time now. (sm)
I have had this scoop about 8 years now and wouldn't give it up for the world.
Also have a stone I use quite a lot. Great to get that crispiness on something without having to fry it in grease.
Their stuff is a little high dollar, but the quality is great and if you have a party yourself you can get quite a bit of stuff for yourself.
At least go and enjoy. I love Pampered Chef parties.
Friend has a Cuisinart grind and brew type, dispenses 1 cup at a time. Great coffee! nm
s
Limbo. Great song, great game. Also,
The girls all line up and walk through a room as if they are modeling on the catwalk. Get a couple of bright colored boa's from the party store. It's a real riot and the kids have a blast especially if a couple of brave boys grab a boa and do it too. We've had many a birthday party doing this and it was totally hilarious.
Wow!! What a great attitude! I love that - great perspective!

No! That sounds too desperate. TIME. Just give it TIME. If it is real, then sm
something will definitely evolve. If you like him, flirt back! Don't act desperate because if he DOES like you, then the suspense will just make him want to get to know you more. Trust me on this.
I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.
This sounds like fun - the beginning of maybe something to come....Keep us informed.
Totally agree, get these from time to time since teens...sm
It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!
It's time to stop when you or the kid(s) feel it is time, and no sooner. sm
My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).
Don't let anyone dampen your joy in celebrating your traditions.
What great determination and help from a great friend! :) nm

I am sure that you are a great mother and a great cook,
and that you tried everything, now try the 'hunger diet'.
The very 1st time he talked about killing you, was the time
The guy sounds like a psycho.
Rachael Ray has a segment from time to time
on using the bottom of the bottle receipes (i.e. bar-be-q sauce, peanut butter, maple syrup) and I have used many of her ideas and been amazed at how far you can stretch a dollar that way. Go to her website, it will give you many ideas.
Oh Amy, surely there was a man who "kept" you from time to time..
or you were at least married and had access to money!
Time out and then spanking if time out
If we are out in public however, we do not go home. Spanking right there and then and the kids learn REAL QUICK mom means business. I do not mess around and I have a 17-year-old now that has enlisted in the military and THANKS me for his tough upgrowing. It helped him through basic training.
Well, I have questioned myself from time to time.
I figured this was typical. DD has lots of friends but two real close friends. I guess this is all part of building social skills. I am glad I did okay then.
Same thing happens to me from time to time - sm
if I roll over too quickly. I have positional vertigo. There is not too much you can do about it except try not to move or get up too quickly from a supine position. I have never had an earache in my life either so that has nothing to do with it. I don't ever feel sick from it though, just more of a nuisance for me every now and then. If it keeps happening obviously get checked out, you may have a more severe case, though again there really not much you can do about it, all it is is some particles in your ear breaking loose and that causes the dizziness, etc.
If I had not asked time and time again
for the daughter to ask me are you upset- are you angry- are you in a bad mood- People can think what they want- She is a very intelligent person and my asking to please should be enough. Gest of the posting. Selfish, OMG, that is really a laugh. I have and do take care of others well before my needs- I have given of myself, my time, my finances, the whole thing until, now this will sound selfish- it is my time now. I take care of me now- this is selfish but this is the truth. I raised my family, did all I could (still do for the daughter if she needs assistance which she never asks for but I offer)and now in golden years, me time.
Yes. Next time put a time limit on it., but is there any way you
nm
I keep it in the office part time and on the patio part time
I've got the self-cleaning electric litter box (and boy is it worth the $100), and have a huge throw rug under it with a smaller rug by the litter pan that has a bumpy mat on top of it to catch the excess. I keep it in the office from April to October but on the patio from October to March as it is too hot in FL to leave the patio door open for them during the summer months. I also put out a spare box when we go out of town for the weekend.
Try a box that has deeper sides maybe, or not as much litter in it?
Great one! Thanks!! nm

That's great!!
A great big congrats to your daughter! She is so fortunate to have such a supportive and helpful family!!
Did he say anything at all about how great a new job for you would be? I'd keep an eye on him as
s
Wow, that's great!
We had always said 3 and that's when we stopped. They are all teenagers now. Wouldn't change a thing either.
That was great.
I'm glad they did that. What fun. Not only was he thin, but his clothes were nice. No jump suit. I preferred his hair when it was his natural brown rather than the black dye job.
That's great - sm
I'm glad I don't need them anymore then! Also check with your state regarding laws about those things. For example, in Florida you are only allowed to borrow 500, in which case I would be weary of anyone offering more. Thanks for the tip - looks like you should be advising me!
Great, thanks!
I listen and take all ideas I can.
My mom did it and it looks great.
She did not fill in the cracks, and it looks great simply painted.
DS, he does a great job.
e
For her age, I don't think she looks great at all
isn't she around 20? She looks more like 30 and haggard half the time. Oh, and you too can have that body with the cocaine/alcohol-only diet! Get real!
She is such a piece of garbage. But they say her mother is too (was desperate for fame so pushed her daughter into the spotlight) and her dad as well (didn't he just get released from prison)?
Sad.
That's great! Another one sm
I haven't seen Chuck and Larry yet, but will definitely ignore the reviews and see it. I love good comedies.
Another one, if you haven't seen it, is the Wedding Crashers. I thought it was just supposed to be a silly romantic comedy, but my daughter and watched it on cable last weekend and I cannot remember the last time I laughed out loud, spewing drink laughing, in some time. See that movie.
I think it would be a great job (sm)
True they don't pay real high but you are at your kids school, no child care costs, good benefits, and summers off - sounds pretty good to me!!! They are hard to get where I live also though. Best wishes to you!
That was great. Thanks. (nm)
.
Great Job
There should be more people like you!
They have been a great help to me
in dealing with a similiar situation with a family member. Sometimes you hear things that you don't want to hear but the people in these groups have been in your shoes and they understand what you're going through like no one else.
I got to do this. It was great.
I contacted her because I was going to the 20-year reunion. I couldn't talk her into going, but I did get her to meet me for another trip back home.
There was plenty to talk about. It was great.
Have a great
weekend everybody
Thanks. Those were great! nm
nm
They are not that great...SM
They are great for a while, but then if the DVD player breaks, you are stuck with a TV with a broken DVD player and end up having the buy a whole new DVD player. If the TV breaks, you are stuck with a DVD player that you can't use because the TV part is broken. I would not recommend getting a TV/DVD player combo. I know many people who had had these problems with them. I would buy each component separate so that if one thing breaks, you only have to replace that.
That was great! Thanks. nm
!
Great tip! Thanks!
Thank you for that website. I'm going to check them out. Thanks to everyone for all of your informative posts on this subject. You have all be very, very helpful. I appreciate you!!
That's a great one!...sm
Rhinoceros where stomping out fires (the fire brigade)...We wore the tape out watching it so many times...I suppose it's on DVD by now. Thanks for reminding me of that one! Cat
This is great!
This is the greatest thing I have seen in a long time. I just cannot stop laughing. I know I will remember this one for as long as I live! Thank you so much for this holiday memory. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL. (I did not mean to yell, just consider it a loud voice LOL.)
The Others is GREAT!
I saw Rosemary's Baby but not the other ones. Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to get the Mothman Prophecies and THEM! on sale on the DVD club too. One really good and the other a classic. I love sci fi too and got my kids all into star trek. The Borg are the scariest but they love it and so do I. LOL.
