let them be adopted out. I was at a shelter the other day, lady came in wanting to retrieve a pit her daughter had taken from her home in a drug bust. The person was told could not let go, it was a pit and the woman said but it is not full and the answer was NO difference, mixed, full they are a danger to society and the people who would adopt know this. The shelter has sign on door (pits have green signs on their individual place) and the sign says no pure or mixed pits adopted out. Don’t you just think maybe these people who have had experience with the breed probably onto something? Naaaa, people just want to keep thinking otherwise. Your life, not mine.

Pantry full and freezer full...but will NEVER eat Spam!
//
Pantry full, 2 freezers full.
Only need to get paper products and fish. I have lots of tuna, Spam, canned chicken, sardines, corned beef hash, etc.
Got our veggie seeds last week.
Stocking up on more canned veggies and fresh veggies, mostly potatoes, as soon as I can. Potaoes last quite a while in our cold room, which is an extra bedroom with no heat. Also want to get extra bread. Love homemake bread, but DH doesn't like it for sandwiches, so I have to get store-bought bread for that. I can still buy bread at my local produce store at 2 for $1.75 and it freezes very well. In spring, it used to cost 2 for $1.25, but that's still cheaper than other places.
I'm not doing this because of what's coming. I'm doing it because I've done it for years, but usually in the fall. This fall I could only buy a few things at a time because DH not working, so I figure another month, I'll be back to normal.
Have been loads of places
Greece, Mexico (5x there), Puerto Rico, Bahamas (4x there, Jamica, Alaska and my hubs fav is Las Vegas (6x there)- I was only in Jamica for a week but had a blast there, so much to do. I probably would save my favorite and most gorgeous (water included) was probably Alaska. Very hard trip for me, so far and I thought only trip of a lifetime but I think I have changed my mind and would love to return. It would be between Jamica and Alaska and I am past the beach thing now. Have a great time!
Go to etsy.com. They have loads of beaded

let me tell you about shelters...
I am middle aged. I gave up a good career to care for a terminally ill father and brother with cancer. This went on for years. I lost everything I had. I had to live in a shelter for women afterwards until I got back on my feet.
I too used to think people who lived in shelters pretty much brought on their own misfortune. Some of them did. Some didn't. I met women who were disabled but could not live with remaining family members because those members were high on drugs and stole their meds. I met mothers with children who could not return to family because the children were being molested by other family members. I met young women trying to get away from a spouse who had become addicted. I met women who could not get public assistance because they didn't fit into any "category" that qualified for help. They tried in various ways to work themselves to the bone in order to get out and stay out, going to school full-time and working part-time as well. My admiration for the female human spirit was raised tremendously.
If I won the lotto, I'd search out the private shelters, those run by churches, etc., and offer to help those who could not get assistance otherwise in whatever way they needed to better their lives so that they would never, ever have to live like that again. If you live in a shelter, it is assumed by the public that you have an addiction problem or have lived an immoral lifestyle. It just isn't always so.
Does anyone know shelters who don't....sm
automatically kill pits? The fact they kill twice week, mostly pits, makes me ANGRY. They automatically assume if it's a pit then it is dangerous. Well this is my dangerous pit. Doesn't he look vicious?! LOL
These people are in Hollywood with loads of money.
She'll have a nanny and her Mom's writing a book or something or parenting, so she'll be good to go.
What I don't like is the fact that 7-year-old daughter watched that show on Disney, as I'm sure other young girls have, and I don't think that's setting a very good example for her to be in a school setting and then be an unwed, young mother. Maybe I'm from the old school, but I think it says a lot for this young girl and her decision making. I actually read an article online that said the father of this child was not planning on this, but he'll make a great Dad... How does he not plan on it? It does take two? Do they not know of birth control? This is what makes me think it was planned and for show and for all of us to comment on and make a big deal about it.
They have money, they'll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an older dryer (10 yrs) and dry about 4 loads a week sm
(small family). Last summer I began drying 3 out of 4 on the line. My electric bill dropped by half, from about $75 or 80 per month to around 40. (Small house, small utilities.)
http://michaelbluejay.com/electricity/dryers.html - Interesting link about estimating the cost / savings benefits.
Refinancing, nope. We have been paying loads on
the principal and started out with over $220,000 in 2004 and already under 97,000. If we refinanced might get a shyster deal, know who we are with, trust them and do not want any additional burden such as the refinancing charge to apply.
I wish I could drink coffee... loads of caffine with none of the
calories! I can't drink it wihtout putting loads of sugar and milk in it, then it isnt very low cal after that!!!! I love the smell of coffee and I wish I could just drink it, but I can't get over the taste.
I'm sorry, but what do you expect the shelters to do? sm
I worked in an animal shelter for over two years. We go a lot of feral cats in at the shelter. If they were somewhat friendly, then yes we usually put them up for adoption under the title of "good barn cat." If you can't get near them, then there really isn't anything to do BUT to put them down. There is no use endangering the people at the shelters OR the other animals at the shelter with a cat that has been wild too long to tame. JMHO, sorry if it irks you.
Believe me, I am a HUGE animal lover (hence the reason I worked at the shelter for so long). I don't like to see any animal suffering, but sometimes it is necessary.
What do I expect the shelters to do?
I am not their boss so I can not say what I expect them to do, not up to me. I only do what I can do. I don’t know where you live but here the animals are not kept in so called shelter for 3 days, then put down. This place kills animals twice a week, mostly pits. I don’t take animals to shelters because here the outlook is very bleak for them. I do what I can helping out the furries. What the shelters do is not up to me. Where did you get the idea I expect the shelters to do anything??
I was off today and pretty much was a slug all day. I did 2 loads of laundry,
I never do that, but it sure felt good at the moment. Of course, tonight, I spent some time in the bathroom...what goes in, must come out I guess.
We have adopted several pets from shelters

Great dogs at shelters
There are so many wonderful dogs at shelters. I always say, the only bad thing about a shelter dog is its previous owner! There are lots of mixed breeds but plenty of purebred dogs, too.
Shelters are overflowing these days (more than usual) because of the number of people who are losing their homes. I've heard stories of people moving out of their foreclosed house & just leaving the dogs behind...terrible. Especially for older dogs, who are so hard to find homes for.
Good way to make loads of money, surrogate mothering
Watching a news show this morning and I am seeing a 42-year-old woman who is a surrogate mother. I am really taken aback at seeing this as most 42 year olds would be considered a higher maternal risk because of their age. The surrogate mothering agency says they have seen a dramatic increase in the people wanting to rent their uterus. The agency said the surrogates make between $18,000 and $20,000 something for each baby. Would you be one?
Most vets donate services for shelters. I think they
x
Agree....that's why so many end up in animal shelters abandoned...
xx
Peek-a-boo, treats. Buy Pedigree; they donate to shelters.

Mixed feelings
I had extremely harsh and unforgiving feelings toward ANY sexual misconduct/abuse situation.
Then, one of the young boys in my family was found guilty of such.
It has split and torn my entire family apart.
The agony of loving this young man and despising his act is killing the soul. His parents are especially suffering.
Before I was in this situation, I simply felt we should put them all to death. Now, I'm not sure what to believe.
I do believe he should pay his consequences and I am relieved that the court has to do this terrible job. They can be objective. It is harder when you know the individual.
I want him to suffer the consequences of his actions. I want him to rightfully bear the conviction, the shame, the social retribution for it.
At the same time, I want him saved, rehabilitated, redeemed.
He is mortified of how he will be treated for the rest of his life. I remind him that one reaps what they sow.
I have great sympathy for him, for his victims (this was sexual misconduct, not rape), for all of us in this situation.
I'm not sure why I'm even posting this other than remind everyone: The persons who commit these acts are someone's child, too, regardless of age. Someone loves them, too.
Sorry, got your post mixed up with sm
I read another post where a vet was involved, sorry. I do have experience though with depressed family members (some vets) and my parents would get depressed as well over money, so I know what you're going through. The sad thing is they didn't try to help themselves and I let it weigh heavy on me and like you, I could not enjoy things myself sometimes. I know what you're going through. You have to tell yourself, you didn't cause it and can't change it, as much as you want to. Just keep praying, it does help! Pray that they "get the message."
Mixed drinks.
mixed feelings
I have mixed feelings on this subject. I think a lot of it has to do with the owners but maybe there is something about the breed too - not sure. But yesterday a friend of ours had to shoot his neighbor's pit bull. . The dog was known to be mean and is usually kept inside but it was out and came after our friend's 2y/o grandchild. He got the child inside and when he looked out, the dog was going after another neighbor's child. He got his gun and shot it. . However, I will say, the owner of the pit bull is a known drug dealer and not a very nice person, so that could be why the dog was so aggressive.
Is your pit mixed with boxer?
He looks like my boxer a bit
to me, the girl definitely looks mixed -
In the one picture I saw, the girl is mixed. the boy, I agree that could go either way, but I still say if he says it is his, then its his. Never saw the baby in pictures.
One year I mixed up all the 4 kid's names
example.. put Debbie's name on Scott's gifts, Scott's name on Mark's gifts, etc. Just let them keep shaking and guessing on the presents.. that were not even their own... It was a real payback for Mom and Dad to see the looks on their faces on Christmas when they recieved their real gifts, with the wrong names on them and they realized they put all that work into guessing and trying to figure out what was in boxes that were not even theirs! LOL
Honestly I have mixed feelings on this.
On one hand...I feel it is your body, you can do what you wish. Who should say what you do with your body. Providing it is willing, agreeing, consenting adults, that should be their choice.
On the other hand...I think some, if not many, who get into prostitution, it is a bad life...they have low self esteem, no respect for themselves...and they are at their lowest and do not know what to do or where to turn. Many times they are so involved with drugs and alcohol, they can not think clearly.
But at the same time...the ones who are "low", are going to do what they can to make money....whether it is prostitution, selling drugs, stealing....illegal or not, they will do it if they are that desperate.
Heck, there are women and men out there selling thier bodies, making good money...or at least money...why not make it legal so you can tax them!
I think I'd add some mixed shredded cheeses & scallions to this. Yum! nm

You are soooooo wrong, mixed marriage
mixed kid. I am saying we should NOT under any circumstances be paying for feet bath just because of their religion. We are not allowed to have anything religious put up, be it a cross, nativity scene at Christmas, the 10 commandments. Why in the crap should they be treated different. Wake up and smell that strong coffee that is brewing and I do not mean Starbucks.
mixed drinks . summer or winter?

Oops - got my name and subject line mixed up above
Guess its time to call it quits. :-) The two are backwards.
I got a vase of roses and other flowers mixed in ...sm
delivered from the local florist to my house. It was sweet.
Years ago had a mixed breed (1/2 pit) and he was allergic to the carpet! sm
We tried everything and finally had to put in outside. My husband built this beautiful kennel for him. He actually thrived outside! I missed having him to snuggle with, but seeing how his health improved outside it was the best for him.
I love Bell's Seasoning mixed in with mine.
...along with the ol' standby's of mayo, onions, black pepper, and I line my bread with cranberry sauce.
Now I'm really really really hungry!
Early riser...margaritas (mixed drinks)
My son loves fruit juice with vanilla yogurt mixed in, over ice.

I know full well that I was able to...
say "no" to sex at 18 years old, and 17 and 16 and even before that. I knew what sex was and how babies are made. I dated older men and I held my ground. I do believe that all 16, 17 and 18-year-olds know exactly what they are getting into. I think the man is a creep and that he, because of his authority position, had an obligation to stay away from her, but I just can't see two consenting adults having sex as a crime. Inappropriate--absolutely.

You are full of information!
Thanks!
Do you remember when Nick went away to boarding school at something like 7 and came back 19? It's completely crazy but I know they have to do it to keep the story line going. I can't wait to see what he looks like though...Sharon or Nick. Michael's dad, I thought that was a dead issue. I wonder who decided to go ahead with finding him. Here we go with Gloria again huh. lol
I missed today but watched yesterday's online. I'm so glad Victoria got a chance to talk to Sabrina. I'm still hoping Sabrina doesn't kick the bucket but sounds like she will. I wonder how Adam will like step-mommy Niki moving into the ranch...I think that's where things are headed.
You are still full of rage.
Shut up, you say? Tell it to yourself and then, see professional help. A pastor would be a good place to start. Many of them dedicate their ministries beyond the pulpit to domestic violence and abuse. For those who do not feel at home in a church, they have many resources to sliding scale social services, often some of which are free of charge.
Because this is a board full of
professional people who strive to be as accurate as possible in what they do. I just figured they'd want to know. You never know when you're going to be called upon to type that next national security document that needs to reference a Navy SEAL and you'd want to be correct, wouldn't you?
Yes, now I'm being silly.
I'm just saying, she might not know the full story if
she wasn't around until the friend actually died. Perhaps, they had marital problems before the diagnosis. I'm not saying he is or isn't a scumbag, I'm just saying if you had no idea the woman's husband left her until after she had died and you were at the funeral, then you probably don't know much else about her personal life.
She already stated that the garage was full
and that they said they would take them instead. Sometimes you do things like that for family, ya know?
Also, she would most definitely say, "why did you store them near the street where you had other things stolen before and stored yours in a safe place?" That is negligence!
Since their quads were not stolen, only the ones right by the street, it is obvious they acted negligently. She stated that the only things stolen on the property were right near the street before. Why would someone put something that they are storing for someone in the same place? That is negligence.
I have no doubt she would probably tell the OP that they should have cleaned the garage and took care of their own quads, but legally, her sister is at fault.
