I would listen to what they say to you and then tell them you are sorry for their loss. Then try to refocus their attention to all the good times by saying things like you were fortunate to have her as a part of the family for so long and that you bet they have some wonderful memories of her. That is really all you can do in this situation. It is also very easy at funerals to get caught up in the mass hysteria of so many people grieving in one place. Sometimes just holding a hand or offering a hug can do wonders when words seem hollow.
