Okay, I haven't watched the show but ...
Since you made the comment, my curiosity won over and I hit the YouTube to see it. YIKES!

Looks like HE was taking advantage. Naughy naughty! Did you see her eyes go huge? And what about how hard she hit the floor on the drop! My back hurt watching it.

Then, the encore performance, she starts shaking her head wildly as if to say, "NO NO NO! Don't you DARE put your lips on me."

He deserved to get dumped by his girlfriend.
I watched the show last night and ....
IMHO Kate is the one that has changed drastically.  I used to watch the show all of the time, always enjoyed it and she always seemed so focused on her kids and her family but last night things seemed way different.  To me, she seemed more "Hollywood" and just completely different than Jon.  I commend her for fixing herself up but she just seems fake to me now and in my opinion, Jon does not seem to have changed at all.  Even at the end of the show when they were talking to her about the things that had been going on (without Jon there at this time), she started crying and made the comment to someone off camera that she did not want to mess up her make up.  Also during the interview it was all about her speaking engagements and her book tours, etc., etc., etc.  Again, that was just my take on it.
I just watched the interview on the Today Show SM
where the a hung jury concerning the boyfriend of a woman after he kicked her seven pouond cat, Norman to death.  No penalty at all.  He says the cat bit him and he just "reacted."   He kicked it repeatedly until he broke severa bones, broke his teeth and injured his lungs and left it to die.  This happened after a heated argument between the this man and his girlfriend.  Can you imagine showing your face on national television saying you were pleased with the outcome in this brutal outright case of animal abuse?   Over 200 pound man kicks a cat to death and he and his attorney are trying to justify this.  What a poor excuse for a human being.   He claims it was not done out of spite to punish his girlfriend.   You decide.
I'm a Gilmore girl (maiden name) and I have never watched the show...sm
but my sister has, she says it's pretty good.
I watched a show called The Falling Man last night on Discovery, SM
a show about one of the people who jumped from the World Trade Center. Very moving.
Watched all for the past 6 years now
but went to their show after year before last and really disappointed. I thought they would have more of the singers together, left before it was over but I love the show and wouldn’t miss for anything.
Glad you liked it to. I watched it for the 2nd time

I ordered the 3-disk set called "What The Bleep Do We Know, Down The Rabbit Hole."  (from amazon.com) I haven't even started on the other 2 discs, but I'm looking forward to watching them!  My husband actually watched it with me and was impressed too, and it's usually like pulling teeth to get him out of his comfort zone, so I am so glad he watched it too!

I would highly recommend The Secret too.  Many people have criticized it by saying it focuses too much on how to make financial gains, but since most Americans are drowning in debt and having trouble getting ahead, it does make sense to me for the movie to focus (at least in part) on obtaining financial success.  I think spiritual matters are more important than money, but sometimes it's hard to appreciate the wonders of life if you are constantly stressing about unpaid bills!

I really do think The Secret helped my outlook on life, and I'm trying to focus and my positive feelings more and appreciate all that I have.

lol at your 2 selves enjoying the movie  (I can't rember your exact quote).  ~KAM~

Watched it last night. First time I have followed this competition. (sm)
I really enjoyed it. They doing this annually?

No, I've watched this gal for a long time on the boards &

My children watch it to see the babies...I watched it one time and decided (sm)
I could not stand the condescending way Kate talked to and about Jon. She was so insulting and demanding of him, I can't see why anyone would want to live like that. I feel sorry for the children, but they have not been allowed to have a normal life anyway, and they should not be raised to see their dad take abuse from their mom, so good for him for standing up for himself.
Some news show I watched called those jars "sucker jars" sm
Because the places that have them out are places like Starbucks, pizza joints, the like.  What would you be tipping for, exactly, in the case where you order a coffee and the person hands it to you?  The same for the pick-up pizza places.  The person preparing your pizza gets an hourly wage.  I definitely do not tip and the show I saw this on said only suckers do.
back in 98, did anyone see me on the Today Show?

I lived in LA during and after OJ's trial.  I always thought I would see him on the freeway and that I would have to ram my car into his to let him know how I felt.  Well, one sunny day at Venice Beach, I had my chance.  There he was, OJ.  Everyone was like, "There's OJ Simpson, there he is."  He was being interviewed by Ruby Wax of the BBC.  There were four camera-men and four boom-operators following OJ and her around as they browsed the shops at Venice Beach.

Well, for me, it really went into slow motion.  To this day, I still don't know exactly what my plan was.  I start scurrying up to him (which is really funny to watch on the video), I get up to him, tap him on the shoulder, he turns to me and extends his hand.  So, I'm shaking his hand, and as I look down, my brain says, "There should be blood on his hands."  I say to OJ, "I've never shook the hand of a murderer before."  He quickly grabbed his hand away from me and they walked off.

They showed that footage of me and OJ like crazy on the Today Show, Dateline NBC promos/show, and a special on HBO.  I even called NBC to ask them to stop cuz they were only showing the video without the audio on the promos, making me look like an adoring hand-shaking fan.  Katie Couric was interviewing Ruby Wax and introduced me as "that woman who insulted OJ."  My phone started ringing like crazy with all my friends finally now believing me and what I had done.

So now, I'm good with OJ.  He knows exactly how this one little American feels about him. -- my brush with infamy and a true OJ slam.

I remember a show years ago that I saw- sm
on squirrels. The show was about how they can figure any deterrent out. They had made an elaborate set up to a bird house, probably 100 feet long of booby traps, etc. to prevent the squirrel from getting to the food. I think it took them half a day to figure it out but eventually they got through all the obstacles and got to the food through trial and error. One would try and the others would learn from the mistakes, it was pretty incredible to see.
first beagle ever in 137 years to win best in show...

at the Westminster dog show last night!...Hooray!   Snoopy and his brother Needles are celebrating today for sure!  The regular guy's dog wins!  Cat

Years ago... (~20) I went to San Diego for a trade show -sm
my boss left me after 3 or so days for another trip and left me to pack up, etc. I had been scared at the beginning of the trip being only 22 or so at the time. But I had asked to stay a day after the close of the show so I could do sightseeing. I took the rental car and drove up the cost to the San Diego Wildlife park (alone) and had a blast. Best day I have ever had a zoo, granted this was not your ordinary zoo. It was nice driving down the Pacific Coastal Highway too and seeing the ocean on the west coast (I am from the east coast). I have not had the opportunity to do this ever since, planned to but never did a trip to England I wanted to take alone. But I never felt alone at the hotel or anything, eating alone was the only thing that bothered me in the resturant in the hotel; did drive through otherwise. Go and enjoy yourself. I plan to take off for a week so with the kids next summer and go camping, sightseeing, etc. and if my DH can come great, if not it will be just me and the girls!
Martha Stewart did it on her show a couple years ago.
I wrote the directions down and never got to them.  I remember you soak them and dry them  and then sand them lots - I think acrylic paint and glaze.  There are lots of local craft shows where I live and there are a couple gals that do them - bird houses, bowls, one does the neatest bright red apple ones.  Just looks so neat and think it would be fun.  SO - you might try doing a Google on Martha Stewart/gourds or something like that.  Good luck.
I had something like that a few years back - sm
and it turned out I was sensitive to DRYER SHEETS (fabric-softener). I stopped using them, and the problem went away.
I went back 11 years ago...
... and graduated in 2001 at the age of 45. Got my degree in info tech in business--and then decided to stay in the MT racket anyway. The reasons why are no big secret, and if anybody wants to hear 'em, I'll be glad to expound.
I did years back, but made up with her..and then

SO.....don't waste that emotion *hate* because we don't know when our lives end.  My sister was 30 when she died, in the late 1970s.  I'm just happy we had made up 6 months prior to that.  Her death was a shock to all of us.  One of my children was named after her AND even looks like her....

One never knows around the corner........

I was actually dxd with adult ADD several years back sm
by a psychiologist. I had symptoms similar to yours and was being treated for depression at the time and sent by my psychiatrist to this person who gave me a computer test and then gave me the same test 6-8 weeks later on medication to see if the results were different - and they definitely were. If I recall correctly it had to do with reaction times and how long my concentration was, etc. The results were a little shocking. I think I knew for years I had it - my oldest son was dxd years ago but it was just kind of lurking in the back of my mind and didn't come forward until I started having serious problems with getting my work done and making a decent living at MT... I finally took medication upped my BP so badly I had to quit. I just try to go with the flow now - I have white noise playing in the background while working, shut my door, note on it not to bother me unless house is on fire, set goals for myself and treat myself with done with work and try hard not to let emails and IMs distract me. I leave all my other chores until the very last minute/second and then rush to complete and am always late and cook everything on high and burn or overdo things as always in a hurry - can't remember all of the other things I do - they have just become a part of me. I did do much better on medication and if I seriously needed again would definitely look into another one.
One day a few years back I was driving
to work (when I actually left the house to work) and I saw a man shoveling snow in his driveway, dressed like a normal man, but wearing a pair of red pumps. I almost crashed into a parked car doing a double take. He was tall and husky, built like a man, so I know it wasn't a woman. I got to work and told everyone and I don't think they believed me.
Not only that, but a few years back the USPS sm
sponsored the Tour DE France and was a MAJOR advertiser spending MILLIONS of tax payer dollars to advertise. Who the he** doesn't know who the USPS is? That ticked me off. I know: Try NOT advertising and pass some of the savings on to the consumer!!

Has anyone seen The Notebook? I watched it for the first time today. sniff sniff sm

I've never cried so much during a movie. Wow. I'm speechless. Especially the end.  I think it's b/c I saw myself in Allie.  I had a high school sweetheart and he went into the military and we lost touch. He found me, proposed, and I chose the "other guy." I regret it till this day.

That was 15 years ago.  I found him on line 2 years ago, found out he has been married 3 times in 15 years and was fixin' to get a divorce!  He told me he kept trying to find "me" in those other women and just couldn't (yeah right.... but it was nice to hear anyway).

So, the man I am married to now. Well, let's just say it's more convenient than love and my heart is broken today. If anyone has love like Allie and Noah had, you are one blessed woman.

Oh, I remember back way years earlier
when Elvis was serving in the army overseas and he met Priscilla- get this, very hush, hush now but he brought her to live with him when she was only 14 or 16 years old, just a child and he was in his 20s. She finished high school in Memphis. Heard years later she was living with his family, not what happened. Now what would that be called today? Older guy, really young girl?
I will be 40 in August and am back in school after 20 years -
I will be graduating with my associates degree in accounting in December. May go on for my 4 year, but may just do an associates in business management also. I am like you - ready to ditch the MT world.
Yes but I went back again and found it this time. sm
Thanks...had to follow some links all around the 'Net but found it...should be about mid November or so.
I would do it right back, all the time in inappropriate - sm
situations. Give his crotch a grab and squeeze, or pinch his butt, etc.....and I would do it in front of others and see how he likes being treated as a piece of meat. Of course if you do this when no one is around he will take it as in invitation so this approach does have its down side. If he persists, then I would just slap him or his hands until he cuts it out.
Years back we lived in the country, and mice

were commonplace in the old farmhouse we were renting.   One year, though, our landlord moved about 30 round bales of oats or wheat and lined them up next to the barn outside.  Apparently it wasn't a good year to sell it as grain, so he baled it to feed his cattle.  Anyway, those bales of grain really lured the rats to the property, and one got in the house.  I was shocked and horrified.  I think we got it out by using a sticky trap, which slowed it down enough so that we could corral it into a trash can and take it outside.  However, the barn cats which we had a-plenty DID NOT catch and kill these rats.  They didn't know what to do with them, I guess because they were so much bigger than the mice they were used to.   I remember watching one of the cats when he had a rat cornered, and the rat was hissing and squeaking because it was trapped, but the cat never killed it.  He just looked perplexed and a little scared himself.  I guess my point is that you can't necessarily count on a cat to solve this problem.  Good luck, though.  Mice are bad enough, but rats are downright creepy.

Don't count on getting it back. Sad, but it happens all they time. Look out for the girl sm

wearing that distinctive jacket.  And inform you child to  bring her stuff home with her.  She learns a valuable lesson here.

I keep going back to this response...thanks for taking the time to (sm)
post that.
A few years back I tried joining a ladies bowling league sm

on Tues. mornings. Worked out perfect since I'm off Tuesdays. Here's the dilemma. Most of the women (90%) were so rude to me. No matter how friendly and nice I was to them (which I am very outgoing) it just did not matter.

I'm thinking of joining it again. How does one put up with bad attitudes in this situation? Don't I have the same right as they do?? I mean, just because I'm young doesn't mean I can't be there. The bowling alley was the one who put me on the stupi*d league in the first place! I should add that my average at the time was 160 (I've been on leagues since I was 8 years old) and I am an above-average bowler. Now my average is even higher. I was constantly winning small pots due to high game (200s or more).

Why am I so afraid of going back? There were at least 75 women in the league. Most of them retired. Why do older women like that have bad attitudes? Is it the environment? Jelaousy? You'd think after all those years they'd be over that. There are no men around, so it can't be jealousy. I'm so upset and annoyed and I haven't even signed up yet! UGH!

Darn! I meant to say FORMER not fellow! I moved a few years back sm
but would LOVE to visit. My dad was stationed at Griffis AFB in Rome, outside of Utica..they moved and I stayed and attended college in Syracuse with a few friends. After a few years I finally left the area. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone in that area anymore!!! So sad....I would LOVE to take my family there one day and show them the Adirondacks, etc. I actually have step-grandparents in VT who owned a 100+ acre farm they just sold for a million dollars....Now they have a small log cabin in the mountains but they are in FL most of the year! I actually live just outside of Atlanta now....I remember being snowed in the dorms for 2 days during a bad winter storm. You are right! The snow is like NO ONE ANYWHERE can even imagine..LOL Nice to meet you!
next time you go to her house, steal your stuff back!!
may you should start marking your stuff w/those markers. Every time I take anything anywhere anymore I am going to mark my stuff.
I'm sorry. It's rough losing a pet. I lost my dog, Tate a couple years back. SM

He was a sheltie and he used to lay under my desk when I worked and I would rub him with my foot and he was a great foot warmer in the winter!  I used to say, he wasn't my dog, I was his person.  He got sick and then his liver failed and I had to have him put to sleep because he was suffering.  I cried for weeks!  I still haven't gotten another dog.  My kids have been begging me and they've almost wore me down, but for a long time after Taters died, I just couldn't bring myself to even think about another dog.  I compromised and got the kitty last summer.  I've never had a cat before, so I didn't know if I'd like a cat or not.  I've always been a dog lover, but I've been quite taken with my little cat.  He's ornery little guy and I love to play cat and mouse with him.

Listen to me just gush!  Sorry about that.

You aren't possibly related to that vice-president some years back who SM
spelled potato incorrectly are you? LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist that one!  Have a good sandwich!
All the time and I was RN years ago.

3 years is a long time. Don't you think
What if the carpet store does not have the same carpet after 3 years.  Also, carpet repairs are not cheap.  You have to pay labor and the cost of materials.  It would probably be easier just to get the whole room replaced or simple as it sounds, put a throw rug over it and call it a day.
Six years is a long time; I'd probably go with 100.00
gift certificate to a nice restaurant or a spa/massage.
When I got married the first time (years ago!!) sm
I asked a very close friend that I could not have as a bridesmaid monitor my guest book - and I have no idea what happened to that book!!  I would say it was nice that you were asked - it is a little bit of an honor if you will - but this late you are obviously a replacement for someone who may have had an emergency or something - and the bride will jsut have to accept your dress or ask someone else as you are out of town and don't have the time or money to purchase another dress at this point.  Tell her thank you - you are honored - but you will have to pass???
First time in 9 years that I have a 4-day weekend...
And I plan on doing NOTHING! Happy Labor Day!
One time years ago we did CCCS.
It did help with interest rates.  We made one payment instead of many, but not all companies will "play along" with CCCS.  It all depends on what you're looking for, but CCCS makes you cut up your cards and close accounts (I think) so that you can no longer charge.  It does put a dent in your credit score as well.  I'm not so sure how it works for late payments already either.  We were current, but struggling and needed help with all of that interest.  It worked for us.  Have you considered snowballing your credit debt?  I wonder if this could work for you?
There was a time a number of years ago -
when everything was so frustrating at work, at home, and everywhere else, I came within a heartbeat of just getting in the car and leaving EVERYTHING behind: Abandoning my job, my friends, my family, my apartment, even the pets in my apartment. EVERYTHING. Just leaving and becoming somebody else, somewhere else.

But I decided to give it just ONE MORE DAY. The next day I called in sick and didn't go to work, just to give myself one more day to think about it, and to pack and close out my bank account, just in case I was really going to do it.

The next day I went in to work, and guess WHAT? The boss had been fired! From that point on, things started looking up, so I stayed.
2 years is a long time to be doing what you're doing.

A time of 5 years should not have caused kidney failure.
This is too short a time.
Did she have heart problems also?
I know people who drag along for 30 years until they finally succumb to organ failure.
Time. That's all it takes. I took in a recliner full of smoke and a few years later sm
looks brand new and smells like my own home now. It was really bad with smoke. Same with books. It just takes time. It will eventually go away. Unfortunately, nothing I know works for that without ruining the books.
My daughter is 35 years old and has been having pain in left lower abdomen for quite some time . . .

She had a CT with oral and IV contrast and it was normal, but showed she had an enlarged uterus.  Dr. called the next day and said she needs to go for ultrasound.

There is lots of cancer in the family, so my daughter is very concerned.  Can any of you who have experienced this help out here.  Thanks.

I lived in Montana for two years. Every time I opened my mouth, they said, "What part
of the South are you from?  I said, "Golly bum, South Carolina".
I missed the show but yesterday on her show
a couple of brothers came in and gave money to the family. Sorry I don't have more info, but like you, I do love the show. The brothers tried to give some of the credit to Oprah but she wouldn't take it. She really wanted the brothers to get all the credit.
Then they can get right back on their tires and rafts and float on back to Cuba! nm
