ignorant but what about the humane shelters who refuse to adopt them out because of their aggressive nature? You can talk and talk but it does not change the fact that these dogs are well known for their mauling and killing of people. Just because you love does not make it otherwise. Stick your head in the sand, no one else cares but most people have sense enough not to own.

I've lived in the snooty HOA places and amongst regular people
With all due respect, I'm not a conformist and have no desire to feel 'unique' in a development simply because I get to choose 1 of 3 styles of carpeting, 1 of 4 styles of roofing material, etc. I don't like being boxed in or having others make my decisions in life. I'm far too independent to be subservient to a group of individuals who decide what is aesthetically 'acceptable'. I've no desire to associate with people who exude your smug, self-satisfied attitude that simply because you pay others every month to dictate what you can and cannot do with your own home. I've lived in a place like this, very briefly, simply because I got tired of trying to explain to first-time visitors which condo was mine because they all looked just alike, nothing unique about ANY of them.

MT work is isolating in and of itself. I've no desire to further isolate myself from society by feeding myself a false sense of security or self-righteousness that because I'm in an HOA-dictated community that I'm better (or safer) than anyone else.

The day someone tells me I can't put a decoration up without permission is the day I move.

If I wanted to live by someone else's rules, I'd have lived with my parents all of my life.

Indepenence equals freedom to me, and by letting someone else dictate what I may or may not do with something I pay hard-earned money for is just tacky.
I dod get regular paps (sm)
Had one about 7 or 8 months ago. Had dysplasia about 10 years ago, conal biopsy and LEEP. Have always had normal paps since. I have a lot of symptoms don't want to be too graphic - hot flashes, bleeding between periods, pink dschg and another I don't want to say on here. I had attributed all this to perimenopause until this last symptom which has me scared now.
You are a regular laugh

How is it different from regular shampoo?
Is it conditioning? I have to avoid conditioning shampoos, so I've wasted a lot of money trying shampoos that are all about conditioning the hair (It irritates the skin).

Oh, and you forgot, his is not on a regular basis
either. I think he does not have enough information to make any kind of judgement on a home at this time. Where I live in the US you do not borrow from family/friends/anyone to put down a down payment. Rules are strict and no interest is a crazy thing to do. Repossessions are at an all time high- probably because of this.
Does he do this at his regular feeding times?

Have you cut back not only on the amount of food but the amount of times you feed him? If so, that may be why he is reacting this way.

My dog is overweight, too, and since he has problems with his legs, the vet wants us to try to help him lose weight. She said to feed him small meals more often so that he will feel satisfied but to make sure we cut down on the total amount of food given per day.

So maybe that would work with your cat - smaller meals, more often. Worth a try, right?

Relaxing..my regular days off are Wed, Thu, and Fri...

Bake like a regular potato
They are good if you make them just like a regular baked potato too and just add butter, salt, and pepper. My husband also grilled them in foil this summer with butter and just a touch of brown sugar and they were great. I do not like the canned, fresh are MUCH better and less sweet from the start. I also saw a recipe for sweet potato chips in the oven. I haven't tried it yet and can't remember where I found the recipe but I'm sure you can Google it.
So you do regular maintenance on the computer..sm
Such as check for Windows updates, deleting your cookies and browsing history, scanning for errors, and defragmenting? If you need help with any of this let me know. I can give you instructions on it. I have Windows XP so that is the version I know about. I don't know about other versions. These things really make a difference.

I get mine from a regular grocery store

What you want to buy is a "city" ham, not a "country" ham. City hams have less salt. Smithfield hams are good. I've also tried Cooks' and Hatfield. Don't know if they sell those in your part of the country.

I get a catalog called Burger's Smokehouse and those hams look absolutely fantastic. I would love to order from there but I'm strapped for cash right now.

The past 2 years, we have gotten a 1/2 pig from a local butcher. DH loves them. I'm not crazy about them.

The only show I watch on a regular basis
is Grey's Anatomy - could NOT live without it!! Really, that's the only TV I watch too. I catch glimpses of other shows as I'm walking through the living room but have too much to do to just sit there.

She's a regular on Court TV and has a show on Headline News
I'm not a huge Nancy Grace fan, but I do appreciate her spunk! She is an advid advocate for the prosecution. When she was young, teens or early 20s?, her fiance was killed in front of her in a convenience store. After that she became a prosecuting attorney and then got a gig on CTV.

She's very, very pro-prosecution to the point of when the person is arrested, they are guilty according to her. Many times they are guilty, but she just takes it a little too far IMO.

She also never forgets the victim, who sometimes gets lost in the shuffle, and for that I do admire her.

Anyhow, she has a replacement tonight if you happen to be watching.
My husband is drug tested on a regular basis

you can give the people the facts, but the decision making process should be left to the people

This is what our country is founded on FREEDOM OF CHOICE!   I'm laughing already; you are just as mortal as the rest of us, and don' even attempt to that you've never done anything in your lifetime that was unsafe or unhealthy. NOT gonna buy it.

it is wonderful to see how many people have such strong opinions about people in debt.

I thought that the purpose of this board was to be able to post without being judged unfairly or have somebody tell you how wonderful their personal life is, and therefore you are causing their life to be less wonderful with your irresponsibility. Well, the saying "walk a mile in my shoes" is a good one in this case.  Since you have no personal information about the person you are lambasting because they are looking for information on their debt, you can feel superior.  Had you had personal information about them, you might act in a more human manner. Consider fighting cancer for 4 years, working and being debilitated while you do, suffering the effects of chemo, going into debt to maintain your home for your children and looking for a way out of debt SHOULD YOU EVEN LIVE THROUGH THIS!!  Thank you for the kind comments.  To the judgmental people I say please take a step back before you judge.  You do not know who you are talking to and if you knew the personal information maybe your comments would be kinder.

I get frustrated by the double standard they use when judging people. They let certain people go sa
What do you think about the voting process?
People who go around calling other people "low class"
have their own issues in life. Ignore them. Nothing like a misplaced superiority complex to make a person feel good about themselves. Like they've never done anything gauche or made a faux pas. It must be nice for them to be so perfect and live in a glass house.

For that matter, you probably saved your piggy's life by popping that mondo zit! It could have gotten infected or something.... (yes, I have a zit popping fixation myself, but you were really descriptive on that pig zit. gag LOL)

Man, you would have appreciated the time one of my relative's popped a HUGE cyst on her face. I was standing right next to her at the time and leaned back because I knew it was going to blow. It did! Big time! All over the wall, mirror and light fixture. I'm still disgusted by the thought of it 10 years later. LOL In a revering kind of way...
Does anyone know if you can play Xbox 360 games on regular xbox? sm
My daughter wants the guitar hero game in the worst way for Christmas, but I am only finding it for Xbox 360 and Play station 2. We have a regular Xbox and a game cube. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Slow-Mohs versus regular Mohs
I am a patient, not a doctor, but my understanding is this:

A regular Mohs procedure takes many hours but is finished the same day you start the procedure. The doctor cuts out the visible tumor, then makes either vertical or horizontal slices from what she has removed. Those slices are made into frozen slides (not literally frozen) and analyzed by the doctor while the patient waits in the office. This allows the doctor to "map" the tumor. If a part of a slide doesn't show a clear (tumor-free) margin, the patient is called back in to a little more tissue removed. Again, that tissue is made into frozen slides and the doctor looks for clear margins. The patient will keep being called back in to have more removed until all the slides show clear margins. This can take many hours, but once the margins are clear, the wound is closed and that is the end of it.

Slow-Mohs is when the wound is left open for a day or two (and up to a week) while the slides are analyzed. That is why it is called "slow" (the time you spend in the office on the first day of surgery should be about the same as if you had regular Mohs). The reason it takes so much longer to analyze the slow-Mohs slides is because the doctor uses paraffin-embedded slides instead of frozen slides. Paraffin-embedded slides are of much higher quality than frozen (my doctor said it's the difference between a huge HD TV and an old black and white TV with bunny-ear antennas).

For most of the malignant tumors treated by Mohs, frozen slides (and thus regular Mohs) is sufficient. But there are some types of tumors that have long, finger-like extensions (like roots) that are hard to see on frozen slides. If they are removed with regular Mohs than these roots could be missed and lead to a recurrance of the tumor. So that is when Slow-Mohs is usually used.

Sometimes Slow-Mohs is called Modified Mohs, but I have also heard Modified Mohs refer to a regular Mohs procedure with other variations. So if a doctor says they are going to do Modified Mohs, ask them exactly what they mean by that.

You should also ask if your doctor will be using vertical (bread-loafing) slices, or horizontal slices. I think vertical is the norm, but horizontal is better for tumors with irregular boarders.

Also, sometimes after doing regular Mohs with frozen slides, the doctor will take a final slice for paraffin-embedded slides to be analyzed just in case. This final paraffin-embedded slide isn't the same as Slow-Mohs. In the rare instance that the final slide comes back with a positive margin, the patient will be brought back in for another Mohs procedure, but usually regular Mohs is a one-day affair.

Overall, Mohs and Slow-Mohs are a great alternative to a wide surgical excision that could result in greater (and unnessesary) tissue loss. I think it is widely accepted for skin cancers, but more controvertial in other cancers like sarcomas.

I have a very rare sarcoma called Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) and while most of the literature I read says Mohs is at least equal to or better than wide excision (but with less tissue loss), I have seen 2 sarcoma specialists that are strongly opposed to Mohs for DFSP. However, their reasons are that vertical slices and frozen slides are inadequate for DFSP. However, it doesn't seem like they are aware of the horizontal slicing options and the ability to do paraffin-embedded slides in Slow-Mohs (and doctors don't respond well to any implication that there is something they don't know). So I am trying to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible...and I suggest you do the same if you have one of the more controversial tumors.

Here is a good (technical) article about Mohs and DFSP that describes the different types of Mohs:
"Modified Mohs Micrographic Surgery in the Therapy of
Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans: Analysis of 22 Patients" http://www.annalssurgicaloncology.org/cgi/reprint/11/4/438

If this helps...I know people who know people (sm)

who can make people disappear.

Not really--I'd be lyin' if I said I never thought such things though!  ;-)

IME, people don't feel sorry for fat people either
They actually have less sympathy than they do for people who have substance abuse, IME.

At any rate, I do feel sorry for Britney but the safety of her children should be everyone's first priority, then her safety. It would seem to me that all these hangers-on she has are jeopardizing that safety. It's all just very sad.
Some people just look at me
like I am crazy. You should see the looks I get when she rides on my shoulder in the car. Most people associate rats with dirty animals, etc. They are just like a hamster, only very smart animals. Plus they don't bite like hamsters or try and get away from you. They want to be around you. They are very loyal and love attention. She's my baby.

Unfortunately, she has a cyst growing under her arm now though. She is getting old, and I know her time is coming. :(
OMG! You people are bad, bad, bad!!! I'm going to
!
For me, over 25 people to buy for......
including mine and my husband's immediate families we see separately Christmas eve and Christmas day. We also visit grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc. a week later. We don't have kids yet so still spend a few hundred on each other. It is probably closer to 1500 combined for us.
What about NJ? People here act like
they're the best beaches in the world and I can assure you they are NOT. LBI is the cute nickname now given to Long Beach Island which is a dump as are most NJ beaches and everyone acts like it's the Hamptons or something. Been to NC outer banks and loved it. No comparison.
I think there need to be more people...
in the world like you! You are doing a wonderful thing and are a shining example to your children!
Pet (Dog in particular) people -

I have a Lab/Pit mix, probably 8 or 9 years old, who has a terrible problem with itching and scratching all over.  I am hoping someone on this site has a solution for us.

I will tell you what we have tried that has not worked.

Benadryl has not worked. Seemed to help initially but stopped it and she shows no change.

Changing her food has not worked.  Have tried all kinds of food, wheat free, have not helped.

Adding oil to her food, 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil twice a day, has not helped.  Seemed to help initially but she went back to scratching.

Getting her groomed with dry skin shampoo/conditioner has not helped.

What DID help was steroid injection and prednisone pills on a tapering dose.  But once the dose was tapered down, she started scratching some.  I dont want her on steroids indefinitely.  PLUS, the steroids made her very very aggressive and being part pitbull, that was not a good thing.

When it gets to the point that she and I are both waking up multiple times during the night, I have to go back to steroids.  Before I do that, I wonder if anyone reading this has another remedy we could try before going to steroid route.

We also have a cat and I am beginning to think she may be allergic to the cat.  Do you think this is possible?  My vet technician told me it is possible but it would involve costly allergy testing and injections if it proves positive.  Would like opinions from others before I take her for allergy testing.

Any info anyone could provide would sure be appreciated, not only by me but by my best friend who is suffering with this.

Thank you!

um, a lot of people don't go to the, uh, gym.

I know 5 people who have had this...sm
1 has kept the weight they lost off.

2 had major complications after the surgery and 1 almost died - he was healthy before surgery.

4 lost weight but have regained most if not all of it. You can restretch the stomach back out by eating too much.
I like those too - I know a lot of people don't :-)

Yes, but LL should have people to look out for her
be watched 24/7, but LL could be and should be. She should be protected and anyone with any interest in this girl, either for financial or other, such as her mother, should be helping her better than this.

IMO there is no excuse for this. Maybe I am being harsh, but give me a break already with these celebs.
