Well, I had to send my twin 3-year-olds to a school.

Posted By: same boat on 2007-12-19
In Reply to: Me again! I am so frustrated, scared, and upset over here. I'm sorry, but sm - Mom

They are there all day long and I work all day. Paying for the daycare and making more money is about equal to when I worked at home with them in my way, only I am more sane for it and they are learning great social skills. I would really consider changing your hours and putting them in school/daycare/learning center, even if just for a few hours a day. It does help.

Like I said, I feel for you. I have twin 3-year-olds, and I swear they seem worse than when they were 2! LOL!

14 year olds
Boy I feel your pain.  I have 14 year old twin girls.  They do well in school, but boy are they smart mouths sometimes:)
Who is on the $10 bill? According to two seven year olds, it's President...(sm)

George Clooney!!  Ha!!  My daughter said it the other day, and tonight I heard her friend say the same thing.  They sat in the back seat of the car arguing with my 10-year-old that they were absolutely sure.  My son, also slightly misinformed said, "George Clooney is a comedian" to which my daughter's friend replied, "No, a comedian is someone who works with animals."  These really are pretty smart kids most of the time - but I got a huge kick out of their "facts" tonight!  HA!

Don't just send a note to the school...
Call the principal. We had something like this happen last year at one of the schools here where I live. It is a serious thing, because some of these kids actually try to carry through.
Our school send notices home when they - sm
are doing eye tests, hearing tests, etc. Permission is not needed. Obviously they expect the parent here to advise them of any issues in advance.
Update - has agreed to send him back to school
Thanks everyone for all your advice.  I prayed about it (and prayed that I would say the right things and not the wrong ones) and then I called my ex, who after discussing it for a couple hours, agreed to send him back to school with a note that he was not to go in the locker room unless the school has sanitzed it recently.  He also agreed to take the child to his doctor for a checkup and to make sure his immunizations are current, and to see if the doctor had any input regarding anything else that should be done.  Hopefully he will do as promised.
Anyone been able to get out of year-round school? sm
I applied last year for year-round school for my son - well I applied for magnet schools and clicked a box that said year round was an option for me.  He got in. My daughter was still in traditional.  We hated the year round schedule. Now they will not let him out. It is like we are trapped forever.  I just moved to another house and went to register him for a new school that is in our zone and was told that since there is a year-round option he still has to go to year round. I have to go to Growth Management to ask to get him out and they will probably say no.  What can I do? How can I get him out? Has anyone ever given them what they consider to be a valid reason?  I am very upset!
this year at our e.school they started a new thing...
the principal is a young hip guy...his new idea is called the "blue team", when a child is caught doing something "excellent", could be anything from getting along, teamwork, perfect paper..anything...the teacher writes a happy gram, sends him to the principal and he draws blue dots on one of their fingernails and is now "in the BLUE TEAM" ..its so corny, but eventually every child in the school is slowly recognized...its corny for sure but it gives them something to work towards.  my little kindergarten boy..who can be so difficult just thought it was the coolest thing ever.   my 3rd grade daughter got in at the beginning of the year and i really didnt think my son would, but just 2 weeks ago he did...he was so proud.  wouldnt let me wash his finger that whole night...its just simple things.....
That was me my senior year of high school.
Since kindergarten for me, I was always above average in school. I was always on the Honor Roll. I always did my homework. I always cared about my grades. In 9th, 10th and 11th grades I still cared. I was in the National Honor Society and still making As and Bs. If I made a C, I was crushed. Then my senior year of high school, something changed. Keep in mind, that the summer before my senior year, my dear Aunt passed away suddenly and we were very close. That year, it seemed like I just stopped caring. The classes I were in had none of my friends. My lunch period had none of my friends. I just usually stayed in the library during lunch. That was the 1st semester. I still did my work and tried to do good. Then the 2nd semester hit and I really stopped caring. I quit doing any school work and that was HIGHLY unusual for me. I was just so sick of school. In March with only 2 or 3 months to go til graduation, I dropped out. All my teachers called because they were just so shocked because I had always been such a good student. The counselors came out to my house and talked with my mom and thought I had social anxiety, but I wouldn't talk to them. I don't know what happened. I just knew that I hated school with a passion and couldn't bear going anymore. I spent like a year wasting around and then I knew I had to get my diploma. So I went to the community college and got my GED. And then I went on to college and got my Associate's. I think that nowadays, they just make school so aggravating and hard for kids. There are horrible teachers who don't care. They depend so much on students passing these end of grade tests instead of going by their grades throughout the year. Such as my cousin for ex., she in in 5th grade and had ADHD. She is in a special class. So far this year, she has made only 1 C. The school sent out a letter half way through the year saying she is in danger of failing. Now, does that make any sense? No. She does great in school but on those end of grade tests, she just does not do good. So, if she fails the end of grade testing, even if she was on the Honor Roll throughout the whole year, she fails her grade. That is NOT fair. The school systems are just stupid i think. I think a lot of kids, once they get to high school, are just so sick of school and how things are, they just don't want to care anymore. I am sure your son will get over this slump. But with me, I dropped out but I still ended up with a diploma and going to college, so I am sure he will turn out fine.
7-year-old with behavior problems at school inquiry...sm

Our 7-year-old has problems with peer relations, has always had this and it's getting worse.  She is a moody child and comes on too strongly with her peers which is why she doesn't have but 1 friend.

We're now having increasing problems with her talking back to the teachers at school when she's redirected for not doing as she's supposed to be doing in class.  We've had problems with both of these issues with her in the past but it was better last year when she was in a smaller classroom setting.   Now she's in a class with 25 kids and the problems are worse than ever.  Sigh.

We've tried role playing with her on how to respond to her peers appropriately.  She's been given everything from rewards for good behavior to restrictions for not behaving, but the problems continue.  The school psychologist has put her into a group of kids that have a hard time with peers once a week to help with the socialization skills.

Anyone else deal with this and if so, what strategies did you use to overcome this?  I'm more concerned about her negative responses to the teachers than anything.  We're not having problems with her behaving at home - it's only at school.  Any suggestions will be greatly welcome!

this is explained in writing beginning school year.
nm
get your facts straight. Rosie signed a school year

that was when her original contract was supposed to expire, June 2007, a school-year yearly contract.  ABC wanted her to sign a 3-year contract for the amount of $$ she requested.........and she only wanted to sign a one-year contract.......

I will miss her as I had given up the View due to Star Jones' fiascos....and now, once again, after June, I will never watch it again.  Rosie brought the ratings up because after 9 years of Star Jones, people were tired of the show.

Ta-Ta to The View and ABC.....

12-year old girl forced to take pregnancy test due to school rumor

NEVADA CITY, Calif. -- A 12-year-old girl was forced to take a pregnancy test at school in Nevada City, a lawsuit filed in Nevada County Superior Court alleges.

The Pacific Justice Institute, which is representing the girl, said in a news release that Steve Davis, a counselor at Seven Hills Middle School, pulled the girl out of class.

KCRA 3 has decided not to name the girl out of protection for her privacy.

Davis heard rumors that she was pregnant and wanted to know if it was true, the release said.

Though she denied it and told Davis a classmate had spread rumors about her in the past, the counselor got a pregnancy test from the school nurse and told the 12-year-old to give a urine sample, the Pacific Justice Institute said.

The pregnancy test was negative.

According to the news release, the girl was embarrassed and humiliated, and her parents were angry when they found out.

They worked with the Pacific Justice Institute to get an apology from the Nevada City School District, but didn't receive one.

The lawsuit, filed Oct. 29, 2008, seeks damages for violation of the girl's right to privacy and emotional distress.

"There is no merit in the claim," Superintendent Roger Steel said. He directed further questions to the district's attorney.

Reached at home Monday night, Davis said he had no comment on the lawsuit.

I agree, I would send just send a card....
maybe a mass card if they are Catholic.
Chevy ང flex fuel - love it! Big saving on price now, used to buy Olds.

Call the school. I had a threat like this in my high school and they cancelled school that day.
Thankfully, because the person making the threats was found with material for home made pipe bombs and quit a bit of ammunition and a shotgun. He was arrested and charged. Never allowed back in the school.

I think it would be safer to call the school and get classes cancelled for a day to investigate versus make a scene in the parking lot, especially if the student with the knife is inside with the knife.

Good luck. If nothing happens, pull your child out of school for a week. See what happens. I know that sounds horrible, but small towns is where this happens most often.
I have a twin.
My husband still can't read my mind like that sister can, LOL.

You could be my twin
I have the EXACT same issue as you!!!! My male cat Gus has urinated on my bedroom carpet in the same area over and over. I tried the pet odor cleaner from Petco called Naturals Miracle. It's actually a skunk odor cleaner, but it really worked for us. Also, there is something else you can buy at Petco that you can spray on the area that will detract your cat from urinating in that area again; probably would be in the same section as the skunk odor cleaner. I know exactly how you feel; it's driving me nuts. He's done it in other places too and it is the most offensive odor of all. My vet told me to change his food to one for urinary health and if that doesn't work then have him tested for an infection. I don't think he has an infection; I think he is just a big ol' pain in the butt that does what he wants.

Anyway, try it out; good luck and let me know how you make out!!!!
You have got to be my twin.
Everything you said is me. (except the bread winning part). Mine doesn't work and has been saying now for I don't know how many years he is going to get a job. But of course, this happens, that happens, blah, blah, blah. Think he's going through mid life phase right now. But he drives me absolutely NUTS!!!!

I'm 48, been married 26 years and every day I say to myself I WOULD be better on my own. We have no kids, own no house or property and the man can't figure out what he want to do. This is not the same man I married and I don't know what happened to him. There are so many times where I wish I would just keel over just to serve him right. HA HA. I always think...if I keeled over right now that would be just fine by me because I would be with the people I love who have gone on ahead and me, then he can do all the stuff I do and it would serve him right. HA HA

One thing for definite is if anything ever happened to him I would never, and I repeat NEVER, ever ever ever marry again. And if I did I think I would choose to share my life with another woman. Men! I've had it. They don't sit and listen, they try to interject how they think you should feel. I've spent 26 years hearing "you need to think about this the way I do". At least all my woman friends understand the ups and downs going on. This man doesn't even understand the simple concept of "when I am having a PMS attack please leave me by myself". No, instead he has to pick and pick at me and push and push. Then when I get me he lays into me and tells me I need to "deal".

I think society creates a life that everyone buys into. My mom always told me you go to school, graduate, get a job, get married, have kids, have grandkids and that's the way life is suppose to be. Everything I see in the news is pushing the idea that you have to have a man to be happy. I just say "oh quite contraire" (ok, could you hear my french accent there). HA HA. I really think that to be really truly happy in life you need to learn to know yourself, know what you want in life and take care of yourself before giving yourself to someone else (whether it be the opposite or same sex).
Are you my twin Tinks? lol

All of my joints pop especially during hanky panky (blush, blush), including hips, shoulders, neck, back.  It is kinda' creepy, but hubby says makes for good flexibility.  LOL  I pop my fingers all the time and always have even as a child.  They don't look bigger, but they do stiffen up especially in the cold.  I just run them under hot water, seems to help.  I can make my right ankle (foot pedal ankle) pop at any given time?  I'm going to wind up with my fingers all crinkled up aren't I?  lol  My Dad always said I was double-jointed!  Is that a true condition?

My husband has a twin!!!???
I ended up painting my room a dark olive color with burgundy curtains and heavy wood blinds. You might consider theater black out panels or black out canvas. I have seen these at wal-mart. Material are often used in hotel/motel rooms to block light. Since you don't want creeping in through edges you might consider velcro-ing panel around inside window frame so it is removable, or attaching rings to use like roman shades.

ABC distributing as some, fairly reasonable. http://www.abcdistributing.com/home/catalog/cat_item_pg.asp?G=350&P=25 If all else fails get him an eye mask.
does he have a twin; can I clone him?
nm
You must be my twin because you just wrote
everything about me to a T!!! I've been in a quandry for quite some time about what I should do.
lol I think I found my twin!
Same philosophy in my household. Don't think it doesn't take a lot of work and a few "episodes" to prove the point. My husband and son like to play those games every once in a while but I toss them right back and now it is to the point where we don't even have to discuss it. They get the message through actions loud and clear.

My favorite is when hubs does laundry and leaves all my clothes on the corner of the bed. Hahaha! First, folding is the hardest part...second, I have no problem doing only my laundry and no one else's. What's funny is it takes him a bit to catch on, usually when he runs out of underwear! lol What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Not to mention the kids too. At the age of 9 my son started doing his own laundry. Didn't like it at the start but now its just a normal weekly thing...and the best part I don't get those "but it's not clean and I need to wear it TODAY!" :)
Oh, my gosh, it's my kitty's twin!!! sm
your cat look's just like my

Sounds like my kids...on a school day "we just got home from school!" on a vacation day....sm
But this is our vacation! My husband takes vacation days and leaves town without us...lol! He would never dream of taking a day off to work around the house!
How is the school's fault if Johnny comes to school armed?
And how is the school's fault if off campus people are getting jumped? Everybody wants to blame the schools, but the reason places have gone "zero tolerance" is because every parent whose kid gets popped for an illegal weapon says, "Oh, my little pookie wouldn't do that." Which is exactly what the parents of every perpetrator of school violence has said. At 15, this girl should have been aware that it was verboten and, if they felt that strongly it was necessary, kept it hidden. If she is not capable of thinking that part through, maybe she shouldn't be trusted with pepper spray anyway.
How is this kid in school with chronic infestation? School nurse

Bigger issue - a 16 year old living withi a 29 year old and liability
Are you still not responsible for him until he is 18, how can he tell you where he will live?  Unless he emancipates himself and he does something wrong, can they go against you since you are his mother and legally responsible for him?  I worry more about him living with a 29 year old sister rather than returning a house key to me that is a bigger issue.
My 14-year-old is going to be a mother-in-law (so funny) if you google it and 11-year-old daughter

No lie. And now you have a pretty good picture of the kind of mother-in-law stories I can tell. And I do have MIL stories!

send the 2yo to the
I have found the best way to handle it is to refuse to buy my husband any clothes at all. He has to go and buy his own clothes, and live with the look. It is none of my business. I only fill requests for bags of socks.
I always send
I always give a beautifully illustrated children's book, which truthfully people are never impressed initially, but after they cuddle their babies and read to them about 100 times in the middle of the night when they are sick, and eventually teach their kids to read the book back to them, they usually decide to keep it forever.

But receiving blankets are nice also.. :)
I wouldn't send it and this is why . . .
People like this get off on how they are hurting people. She can see in your email that you are hurting, and although it is a valiant and kind effort on your part, she will see it as a sign of weakness and groveling, which is what would delight her.

I'm so sorry you're put in this situation. You sound like a kind, gentle person and you certainly don't deserve the way she treats you.

The only thing I can suggest is to be around her as little as possible (family gatherings, traditions, etc.) and always choose to be in another room, on the opposite end of the dinner table, etc., as physically far away from her as possible.

Continue to be pleasant, don't stoop to her level, and you don't owe her an apology for anything.

She's the one with the problem, not you.
Know anyone can send email...
I said sent in error and that is what happened, not that you had anything to do with this, you did not. Apparently by saying independent and asking about how to send in taxes, this person thought I was maybe owner of a company. Maybe rereading the post I held no one accountable, no one. I would never respond to a post like this because of it being from India and just too many scammers out there for me. The first sentence says - - I don’t know where they got my email unless this site is giving it out - this sentence did not come from me.
Where are you? Wish I knew how to send
pictures so I could show you what our place looks like. I live in suburb of Atlanta and even the bigger homes in my neighborhood, say the 2-3 story places do not run, say over 400-500$$. I could not imagine paying huge price for a home to have a cracker box. I think lot of people paying huge amounts for homes would be surprised if they went on line and checked for homes say in Henry County or Fayette County, both just right outside Atlanta. You really get a bang for your buck here. Not only the cost but wonderful place, clean, quiet, really nice. What are the costs of your homes there?
Maybe I should send milk
I can't believe the milk prices elsewhere. Anyone want NY milk. LOL.
Let me send you my address...LOL!! nm

Send the over 60 crowd to war....

Maybe this should be on the politics board but it's funny on any board......

Drafting Guys over 60
----this is so Funny & obviously written by a Former MARINE-----

New Direction for any war
:
Send Service Vets over 60!
I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards.  Instead of sending 18-year olds off to  fight, they ought to take us old guys.  You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35.

For starters
:
Researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds.  Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts!  I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some asshole that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for a while.

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10 a.m. Old guys always get up early to pee so what the hell.  Besides, like I said, 'I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them.  In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys.  We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food.  We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however.  I've been in combat and didn't see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training.  I can hear the Drill Sgt. In the 'New army' now, 'Get down and give me ... er .. One.'

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too. I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world  ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start up a conversation with a pretty girl.  He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head.

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten cowards terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see right now is a couple of million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons who know that their best years are already behind them.

If nothing else, put us on border patrol....we will have it secured the first night!

Share this with your senior friends.  It's purposely in big type so you can read it..........

OMG! Please tell me you didn't send this
While I fully understand wanting to protect your kids and trying to deal with the bullying this is definitely a letter that would create a bigger problem (at least that is the way I read it). If I was the receiver I would be outraged.
If my kids were being bullied, I would call the parents and introduce myself and tell them about our kids being in the same school then very politely and gently tell them what has been happening to your kids.
When I read this letter I was picturing myself being the receiver and found myself infuriated. It is very condescending, and is basically telling the parents they are really lousy (can't write the true word) parents. There has to be a better way to deal with this.
I would not send son back.
//
he did send a thank you letter
the following day. See I don't know if the secretary gave the interviewer the message and he didn't call back or if he didn't get it. If he did get it I'm worried if he calls again he'll seem to pushy.

They should just make it a law that you have to tell them right after the interview!! LOL
Anyone know of a place I can send...sm
My father took our wedding pictures as he is good behind a camera and we wanted to save some money. But now (a year later..lol) I want to have some of them cropped and black and white and softened, etc. Anyone know of a reasonably priced place I can send a CD of pictures to and have them edit them and print them out for me so I can finally create my wedding album? Thanks in advance.
$50 a week if I send DH. $100 or more if I go

I always overspend cause there's always something on sale that I will need sooner than later. DH goes by the list and the list only.

I live in PA and there are only 2 of us now.

Send me one of those. LOL I get pumpkin pie
only if I buy it. DH doesn't like it.
Tried to send but guess what?
My street address ends in Trace and it said I had to put in road, street, etc.- would not accept the Trace. I appreciate it anyway.
