You're lucky (or he's lucky) the parents care

I have 2 kids just down at the end of the block from me and their parents don't give a rat's behind what they're doing.  They're real smart alecks - ages 10 and 12 (?), both in elementary school.  Apparently, they're quite the bullies at school, too.  They like to mouth to any adults when they whiz by on their bikes.  Is it wrong that I'd love to take my kids' BB guns and shoot their tires out when they're doing this?

Their mom doesn't care.  When we first moved into town this past fall (short-term thing while we're building in the country), I felt sorry for them.  They put on a good act.  After a few weeks of them coming to our house and pretending to want to play with the boys, we soon realized they were freeloaders -- wanted to eat everything in my fridge (without even asking first) and then wanted to play our computers or video games (without my kids).  I put the klinks on that real fast.  After that, they started treating my kids like crap.  I told my boys as long as they didn't do anything physical to just ignore them because they didn't care if they got in trouble and neither did their parents.  Their mom even had the balls to come looking for them 1 night after they didn't go home.  It was 9 o'clock at night and it got dark then around 7.  I couldn't believe it.

Just a few weeks ago, the 2 perps beat another kid with a baseball bat at the ballfield.  The cops were at their house quite a bit, but I see they're back out on their bikes again wreaking havoc.  I can't wait till we move back out to the country!

My hubby was lucky to find her..
on e-bay, and we received her in time for Christmas a.m.  My daughter was pretty excited.  She also got an easy bake oven with extra "recipes".  If only the directions said at the end "now clean up your mess".  It just tells them how to cook the "gritty" cakes.  She likes that a lot too, and of course it is next the microwave in the "real" kitchen.  My son is 12, and he has to "taste" everything.  He doesn't seem to mind though.  On Christmas day, my daughter says to me "Boy Mom you must have really been busy taking care of us, because Baby Alive is a lot of work!"  "I'm gonig to turn her off now."  If only....  lol
She needs to find out more about the system, and just how lucky she is. She is a misgruntled sm
middle classed woman, resenting any hands up those below her get.  She needs to count her blessings.  If she is not eligible for food stamps, then she is way ahead of the game.
You're lucky
Mine are home again today too. Luckily it was an okay day (still cold), but they went out for a few hours, and today they're going to the park so I can be alone for a few hours, but next year I definitely have to plan my days off better. It's hard to get anything done and it gets frustrating.
I'd say your're one lucky gal....(NM)

Low payment.  I think the plus with a mobile home as opposed to a condo or an apartment is pets.  A lot of them allow a fenced in yard - at least here some of them do.

you're lucky you can control yourself with the ol' Mastercard and Visa - I can't
I had to sell my house once to pay off my debts, and then I was still paying on them.
Lucky for me I live in the rural midwest. Personally, I don't care about designer shoes

or pedicures, etc.  The average person doesn't think about those things and I could care less what "Michelle" is wearing or who she is wearing or where she shops or if she has sleeves or doesn't have sleeves.  I don't give a rats patootie about any of the superficial crapola that is the Obamas.  Good God, people, this country is going to heck in a handbasket, the unemployment rate is rising, and we are talking about Michelle Obama's ugly, way overpriced shoes!

Have to find a new place to live - need opinions

Okay, gang!  I have a situation (not serious as life issues go) that I would like some other perspectives on it.  For over a year now, I have rented a room in a house owned by a professional student (health care field) who is gay.  His partner did not want to move here with him a year ago, because of his job prospects.

Today, I am told - by the boyfriend, not my roommate, that he, the boyfriend, is moving here in 6-7 weeks and they won't be needing a roommate.  Now, he said this very nicely, as nicely as anyone can say, get out.

This is not a big deal, but I want to say something to my roommate about having his BF (whom I barely know), tell me about this major change in my life.  I feel that after 16 mos., I deserved the courtesy of hearing this from him.  We have never had a fight of any kind and have never gotten in each other's way, so I thought we had a respectful relationship.

So, ladies, what do you think?

You are right, Misha. They can live up to 20 years and are (sm)

just darling. One came in second at a dog show I attended in April in the Nonsporting Group and I nearly fell out of my chair!  Screamed so loud I was hoarse the next day as the captain ran the ring!  No wonder they used this great little watch dog originally on barges. If the Scottish Deerhoud would have won that night they would have carried me out!

Not where I live, 30 years to life?
Most do not even get 30 years for a murder.
My vet said that parvo can live in your soil for up to 7 years.

Also that puppies have a lot of the antibodies in their system from their mothers for a couple of months after birth and that if the parvo immunization is given to early, it can be ineffective because of that.

Also, fleas can spread parvo as well, which my new puppy did get fleas right before she got sick.  I try to treat fleas quickly, but I guess I may not have caught them quick enough.

The world you're teaching them to live and survive in
seems to be a very cold, harsh one. I wonder if you're as hard on yourself when you make a mistake and "forget" something.

Find a lawyer, find out where you would stand - sm
in the event of a divorce/separation, regarding custody, house, etc. Custody was my main concern as well since I lied on numerous occasions about the finances. Where I am I was told that would not factor in to the custody at all. I can prove that I am my kids caregiver 90% of the time, I ferry they around everywhere, help with homework, get ready for school, meet at busstop, etc. I could also point out my husband is an alcoholic, self treats his depression with alcohol instead of getting proper medical treatment, has threatend to kill himself (or me) numerous times (though he always says he was joking and did not mean it.....that is his standard answer to everything, or that he never said that). Now I do love him enough to deal with all that because deep down inside my DH is full of it, luckily for me, he has never followed through on anything he says he is going to do. But I thought my confession would be the straw that broke it all and send him over the edge. He still is angry with me, I am sure he will be for a long time, but is keeping it together pretty well, though he has said the stress was going to kill him, now he know how I felt I guess. I am sorry your husband is such a smuck. I feel like a dog sometimes with the sex demands, have to do it the night before he goes out of town....he will be traveling a lot for work for the next 3-4 months, which I am more than glad about, much calmer here then, though it gets tiring for me but as he is not really helping much right now it really won't be much of a change. As for yours going on 5 day weekends.....have you considered having him followed, sounds like there may be some infidelity afoot, and if so that would strengthen your case in the event of a divorce and custody I would think. Sounds a bit fishy going out until 1 a.m. and his frequent trips. My DH fishes too, but he goes 2 miles from here with one of our male neighbors, they shoot the breeze and he gets to unwind some which I encourage. Very rare weekends with a buddy of his, I am talking once every 2 years, which again is fine with me. Start keeping track of all you do, when he is home, where he supposedly goes, with whom, etc. He cannot show he will be a responsible dad if he is never there or never interacts with his own kids. My DH would probably suggest I take our older daughter and he the younger, spliting them up, he has the same perception, the oldest is mine, the youngest is his. Our younger daughter is much easier to deal with, our older daughter drives him nuts and she is only 10. My younger one (8) knows something has been going one though, and worries we will divorce, which she does not want. She is very perceptive for her years. I hope that if you do go the divorce route, which would actually probably be best in your situation, that it all works out for you and you get your fair share of assets, etc. Make sure before you do anything like that you have all your ducks in a row, so talk to divorce lawyer. I talked to one for 45 minutes, cost me $160 but was worth it to set my mind at ease. Good luck.
I do live in Arkansas - my parents live up in Branson so I'm in Missouri quite often!

Calling all you animal lovers - live and let live or intervene? - sm

I have a dilemma.  I am an animal lover and have something I cannot come to a conclusion about.  At a restaurant where I eat lunch every Friday with a friend of mine, I have noticed a young male kitty hanging around outside looking for food.  This past week he ran up to my friend and rubbed her legs and quietly meowed.  I purposely did not try to pet him because I knew I would get attached and ignored him.  Well, ever since then I find myself thinking about him and wanting to rescue him.  Meanwhile, I already have 4 inside cats (2 rescues, 2 Maine Coons) and hubby really does not want another cat in the house because a few years ago I promised we would  never have more than 4 (had up to 5 at one point previously).  I actually have a huge screened deck he could stay on indefinitely because I do not believe in letting cats run loose for their own safety.  I could provide plenty of food, a warm place to sleep, and veterinary care.  At some point I would even probably work him into our household, but I just cannot do it at the moment.  Just not sure I would be doing right by that kitty because I am sure he would be upset and confused for a good while as to where he was and what was going on, but is that better than being hungry and cold?  I know there are lots of animal lovers out there.  What does everyone think??

I'm a live-and-let-live person but had to draw the line

after I found HUGE holes in the walkway between my house and barn.  I thought they were just little mice stealing grain, but then I spotted one and it was a HONKIN RAT!  My poor olderly cat was out there with me at the time and saw it, and he hissed at it and ran away!

I asked for advice on what to do at a local agricultural board, because I have other animals and didn't want to use poison and conventional traps weren't working.  They advised putting a large pale of water out with some seeds floating in it, figuring the rats would go for the seeds and end up drowning.  That was a no-go because the water just froze up solid.  I wound up reluctantly going with Decon because I just can't have my house destroyed.  I haven't had seen any more rats or evidence of them stealing grain, so I'm guessing they have died.  The guy at the grain store promised me the rats would not die in the building and stink the joint up, rather they would crawl off and die outside.  I don't know if I believe that, as it is still winter here and decomposition would be holding off until it warms up.  We'll see, but at least the destruction has been halted.

Good luck and I too say have no mercy, because you just don't need them destroying hour house or causing a spark chewing wires and burnin' the place down.  It is war!

  (How un-PC is this emoticon?!)

Make them live outside? This is so funny! Ours live outside, where they WANT to be. sm
Not all dogs want to be in "indoor" dogs, mind you. They have plenty of space to run around and play, fenced, and if they are brought in during bad weather they whine at the back door to go back out! So before you comment on outside dogs, you really need to get your facts straight. Seriously. Not all dogs are made or want to be inside all of the time.
You're not 'low-class', you're FUNNY, & a good writer!
Which is often the case then someone is the first to cast stones!

My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
You are so very lucky!

You are lucky! sm
I think you are so lucky to get these "signs" that your loved ones are still around you. I wish I could have similar experiences. I love Lisa Williams' show. Sylvia Browne can be a bit harsh but she's a real character. I live in Upstate NY and wish I could still get John Edwards' show.
How lucky!
That would be nice!! It would be nice just be able to take time off when you are behind on everything like housework, etc. Oh well, high ho high ho it is back to work I go
Yes, you were very lucky. sm
I tried match.com, put in a 30 mile radius ( small area here).  I found I had already met all of these losers, about 10 of them, in one context another in real life, and would never have considered having even a cup of coffee with any of them.  Lucky you!

Lucky for me...
I'm not a Harry Potter person, but those who reside here are...

My daughter is 20, son is 26, and son's GF is 22. One is asleep after reading all night and the other two are quietly reading... the house is so QUIET!!

So... Lucky for me, they are reading and that I don't feel jealous because I have to work!!

They preordered and got the books last night. Unfortunately, my son accidently ran into a spoiler on the internet w/o even trying... so he's a little bummed.

Well... happy reading when you get off!!!
Wow, lucky you!
Was he a real ladies man and as good looking as he is now?
You will be lucky if
the kids don’t come back and wreck the meeting place where you were. I agree with you about the parenting. It should start really, really early. Hubs and I out last night for dinner and couple next to us with child, about 3 I would say that was all over the place but mostly a danger to himself as he was climbing up on the chair up on the booster seat. There were 4 adults at the table but not one called this child down. I am glad my children grown. Call me overbearing or whatever, my kids were never out of control like what I see now. Oh, I did not spare the rod either.

He's been a lucky cat (sm)
Look at all the years of love you have given him...that is so sweet. Most animals never get a forever home where they can stay and live for 15 years. It's sad but it's sweet too. You have given him a good life :-)
Lucky you!
Believe it or not, I sure wish I was there! I have lived in central Florida since 1994 and have not lived in snow since. So sad. I was so glad to throw the old ice scraper and mittens away, but I really miss it. I miss snow days (not horrifying like Hurricane days are here), I miss cozy in the house while the flakes drop outside and how pretty it is. I know you in snowy areas might think I am nuts, but it is still 80s here and the only snap in the air is something for about 10 seconds between 6 and 6:15 a.m. No sledding here, only A/C in the house. Oh yeah, there was snow at my downtown, fake snow made by the town council for a holiday fair. There was roasting chestnuts, hot chocolate and hot cider. Too bad my little boy wore flip flops, he could not go in the snow and it was too hot out to drink the cider. Oh well, at least it looked like Christmas LOL.
Yep, consider yourself one of the lucky ones!

I remember my one brother at that age...wouldn't be caught dead near his mom, especially not in the kitchen!  My other two brothers though, they were/are good eggs like your son.  You must be doin' something right!

He's definitely one of the lucky ones
I would be very happy if my husband received anything. Granted he gets a monthly bonus depending on profits at the shop (he works at a car dealership - sometime good, sometimes not), but it would be nice if he got an actual Christmas bonus any amount.
