Pool chlorine
We've always used chlorine and never had any problems. We've had our pool for ten years. The kids have already been in ours three times so far. A record for our area. Usually it's not warm enough to swim until sometime in June.
So, I should have poured bleach on my roof

Ditto this. Only bleach the whites. nm

Arm & Hammer unscented, no bleach...sm
used to use Tide but it's gotten to expensive. I have allergies and these are the only 2 products to date that I've found that I'm not allergic to.
I have dulited bleach with water and used that before
and it did a good job without harming my skin. This was in very small areas. My hair is also short and I color my hair myself, so I often have little spots here and there.
Bleach spilled on carpet
Yikes! My son accidentally spilled a large round area of bleach on my tannish-colored carpet and now it has a lovely orange spot reminiscent of the color old orange shag carpets. Anybody know if I can re-dye this spot?
I would think it might be cheaper
to purchase an extra lot (or two) than to move your mom.
I agree that they can foot the bill if that's what they want done.
Don't let other people's odd attitudes upset you. People often seem to ask someone else to go out of their way and then act like the one who says no (or I can't for whatever reason) is the one being disrespectful.
You have to be buying the cheaper
brand because at the QT close to my house, about the cheapest, in Atlanta, the price is $2.40 something for the brand I have to burn.
The Cheaper by the Dozen
movies are great, and my kids can watch them with me.
Cheaper Miralax
Costco has it 2 for the price of 1. The amount I've saved at Costco (on drugs alone) payed for the membership.
Where I live, gas is cheaper, and
then you also have the option of running the oven for heat in the event of an electric outage, or being able to still cook even if the electricity is out. Other than that, depends on preference. I can cook on either, just takes some getting used to. I guess I actually kind of prefer being able to see the flame size though...
Disney does consider Nov-Feb off season. Much cheaper. nm

Salonpas is cheap - cheaper still at Sam's
I think you can buy a huge box for under $10. They are good on sprained wrists, too, my daughter gets those after doing carpentry around the house (talented girl) and we put them on and they work great. I use the slightly larger ones on my chronic low back pain and while they don't last for hours, they give pretty good relief of moderate to low pain and last about an hour. And they really are inexpensive. I learned about them in a Chronic Pain Class I was taking at my HMO, thought what can I lose, and found they work well for me.
Wise
I pick at them until they come off. Cheaper than a dr visit

Eureka Boss is way cheaper and does as well!!

You could look into the human version of same med. Probably cheaper.

As for tags, they are infinitely cheaper in WA.

yes, this is good advice: It is cheaper to go to the
supermarket and buy the cheap stuff on sale, then plan what to cook and buy the additiional necessities.
closing a pool Help!
I just purchased a home with an above ground pool and have no clue as to how to close it for the season. First of all, the water is a yucky green because I didn't add shock (I think?). Is that what I need to do?
You should go to the pool store SM
We have lived in a house with a pool for about 10 years, in the ground not above. If you take a sample of your water to the pool store, they will test your water for free. They will tell you exactly what chemicals you need and exactly how to close your pool. If you close it correctly, opening in the spring will be a breeze. If you don't, it will be a nightmare.

Pool heaters
Google for In The Swim. They have AGP heaters. They even have those "floating solar" ones, but your pool is maybe too large for that. I think the cost is modest to run the heaters and certainly worth the cost if you want to swim. It is cold here too and we count the days until it becomes unfrozen, which is much too late for me!
Are you 2 the last to pool your money, probably so
Hubby and I both signed onto each other's accounts, but he has his bills he pays each month and I have others. When large bills come, we half those so it works well for us both. I do not balance my checkbook, though, and my daughter who is accountant just grits her teeth but it works for me. One good thing I found out, whenwe did our taxes the person told me next year just to send in about $2500 and that should be fine with out deductions and what hubby pays in. Sounds good to me! I have traveling on my mind. I would hate and I mean hate to let hubby know just how much I do spend.
I got mine of good 'ol E-Bay...cheaper that way!
I didn't buy from the company directly. I first tried a sampler size pack from QVC a few years ago, fell in love, and then bought full-size from E-Bay. I do the same with Proactive cleanser...I will never buy direct from those companies that insist on hooking people into some sort of "program." Crooks I tell ya!
It is o.k. to hire firends to do the work cheaper,
but this lady is crazy! Do not give her any money, a deal is a deal and the husband is happy. If she needs some money, she should ask her husband for it.
At my apt. we have a robot that cleans the pool ! (nm)

Does anyone have any experience with pool heaters? sm
We put in a 24 foot round above ground pool last spring, but didnt use it much until towards the end of summer because the water was to darn cold! We have a solar cover, but it does not help much on the cooler nights. We live in NE Ohio. I am looking into getting some kind of heater to heat up the water so we can start swimming in June when we get it opened up. I was thinking of an electric heater but dont want to run up the electric bill to much. Any suggestions or ideas?? Thanks!
Easter. The pool or the beach?

Well, we just got back from getting pool supplies. This is our third summer, we used Baquacil the first 2 years, dh said we were switching to chlorine this year because it is so much cheaper! Anybody done this before, I wanted to keep the Baquacil because of the grandbabies, but was just wondering about the switching.. any & all info appreciated.. tia.. gina
1 In 5 Adults Uses Pool As Toilet
Officials: Swallowing Urine-Contaminated Water Isn't Harmful
PHOENIX -- A new study by the Water Quality and Health Council found that nearly one in five adults admits to urinating in a swimming pool instead of using the toilet.
Eight in 10 adults are convinced their fellow swimmers are guilty of such a crime, the study said.
Nevertheless, health officials insist that swimming in and even swallowing urine-contaminated water isn't harmful to someone's health.
"Urine in itself has been purified through a whole variety of bodily processes so that it's removed a lot of the contaminants in it," said Don Herrington from the Arizona Health Department.
Swimmers should be more concerned about swallowing parasites than swallowing urine, officials said.
Last summer, dozens of swimmers in the Phoenix area got sick from pool water, forcing the closure of all 29 Phoenix city pools.
The parasite which caused the illnesses, Cryptosporidium, comes from diarrhea.
Phoenix Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Amy Blakeney urged sick swimmers to stay out of the pool.
"People who are sick need to stay home and remain at home for 14 days after they're symptom-free, especially if they have diarrhea," Blakeney said.
Though city pools electronically monitor chlorine levels, the city of Phoenix has begun to require swimmers to shower before they jump in the pool as an extra precaution.
"Taking a shower allows those materials to rinse off and go down as sewage, and then gets a clean body into the pool water, which is what we all want," Blakeney said.
Local pool place for sure. Or even have a service do it the first

she could have put big ticket items on there in hopes some would pool their resources together. sm
that's how my family does it. we will have several go in together to get an important big item. also, i think when doing registeries a lot of people home and kinda like a shopping spree. they know they will or will not get items, but what's the hurt to put the items on there just in case.
DE is sold in swimming pool stores to use in DE filters. It's not

Tami Hoag is great for summer reading by the pool or at the beach!
A Thin Dark Line is an awesome murder mystery with some romance thrown in. A lot of her books are set in Louisiana down in the swamps or in Minnesota and all are really good mysteries with strong female characters and a little romance thrown in for good measure.
A good carpet company can dye the carpet where the bleach spot is.
