WW

In Reply to: Anyone willing to share some basics of WW core plan - and points system? Please.

It is based on a point system. The amount of points you are allowed to consume a day depend on your current weight. The more you weigh, the more points you get. As you lose, you get fewer points.

Not sure of the scale, but my son's GF is on it and she gets 28 pounds (she weighed 214, I think, when she started). She's lost 6 pounds in 2 or 3 weeks.

Rule of thumb is 50 calories equals 1 point. The points are calculated by calories, fat, and fiber. For instance, something that has 100 calories, 10 g of fat and 0 fiber, may have 3 points where as something that has 100 calories, 0 fat, and 4 g of fiber has 1 point.

It really teaches good nutrition and portion control painlessly.

My son's GF LOVES to eat anything and anytime. I mean this girl can put it away, but she is really doing well and not suffering too much LOL :-)

Oh, and you get more points for exercising.

I also did WW and lost about 75 pounds 3 years ago. I'm up or down 5 at any given time, but the program really instilled in me awareness of knowledge.

Hope this has helped. I believe a few things have changed since I was on WW, but from what I see from son's GF, it is pretty much the same.

Oh one more thing, I did the meetings. I needed the accountability and discussions. Son's GF ordered the pack through the mail. It was about $135. Comes with all kinds of goodies. It was my valentine's gift to her :-)

Good luck if you choose WW. I think it is the best, smartest diet out there. No gimmicks, tricks, or empty promises. Just good nutrition.
