Today is my 1st wedding anniversary! My husband woke up and went outside and spent all day working on his truck until it was time for him to go work. It has really hurt my feelings. Should I be worried that he may not be satisfied with being married to me?

Not trying to start a pity party, but today is the anniversary of my son's death, just very sad.
My son died 21 years ago today. I just really miss him. I honestly thought the pain would lessen over the years. On a happy note, today is my daughter's 20th birthday, and tomorrow is my son's 18th birthday. When they were little, I was busy taking care of them and planning their birthday party and that seemed to help with the grief and sadness. Now that they are older that has changed. This too shall pass. Thanks for "listening".
We didn't even spend half that amount on each of our kids.
Of course, our kids told us about their spoiled rotten friends who all got electric guitars, multiple gaming systems, flat panel TVs for their bedrooms, cell phones, mp3 players, etc. Then the little boy from across the street came over and told me what he got for Christmas, which wasn't much at all. I felt so bad for the little guy. If I had known they didn't have much, I would have bought for his family instead of my 25+ family and friends who don't even need anything. I refuse to buy into it all for my own kids. If they want all the electronics, they can work and save up for it, and then only with my permission. No unlimited Internet, no texting, no M, R or T rated movies and games. I just don't believe children need all that junk. DH and I grew up just fine without it.
In Montana and just me and husband spend $400 a month..nm

just spend time only with him, get him something just for him. Hug him.

No its not unreasonable and I do want them to spend time with her (sm)
I try to be as encouraging as I can and I tell them how much she loves them. But honestly when they find out they have to go, they cry every time they think about it, even if it is days away, and then cry all the way there.
Do they spend time with your parents
and willingly or just how is time split up between the g'parents?
We all have a right to choose how we spend our time (sm)
If that makes you happy then fine. That would not make me happy. I am not "simpering" or helpless. Also not a slave.

I called my Dr. he is out today. I didn't really think this could be serious...
I guess I was just assuming it was a problem with the way I was seated or something of that nature. The nurse didn't sound overly concerned when I called, but wanted to be sure the pain wasn't severe enough to warrant an ER visit. I really don't think it is a clot, as I'd assume that would hurt terribly, more than this is. Anyway, the Dr. is calling me back in the morning to let me know if he wants to see me prior to my scheduled appointment on the 6th.
I know noone here can diagnose or anything, but wanted to know if someone had experienced a similar issue. Thanks for the reality check though. I tend to not call the Dr. because I don't want to be a pest.
i didn't see the Straight Up Latte today :(
good luck with your search
On Jackson, what I said earlier today to husband was
since Farrah Fawcett died today, McMann yesterday I had always heard of hollywood deaths coming in 3s since I was a young child and I told hubby would not be surprised if another person dies soon. Unbelievable, sure did not think about Michael Jackson if this is true.
I woke up this morning to my husband telling me that we are expected to see snow today. sm
I got up and said, "what??" And there it was - on the news. In the little left hand corner of the t.v. is a sight I've never seen since living here (over 10 years). Our area covered in white!!! We are in the deep south, 2 hours north of the FL border. The forecaster says it's gonna snow today!!! It's been raining all morning, a very cold rain, but apparently there is a system coming our way and it will change to snow in the afternoon! I can't believe it. I've been planning trip after trip to take the boys (I have 3 small ones) to see snow. They've only seen snow on Nickoledeon. My 5 year old doesn't even own a winter coat, only pullovers, etc. I've been digging in the closet looking for matching gloves and made sure there are plenty of batteries in the camera (it's run dead before during a major event). Can y you tell how excited I am? I can't believe it.
I've been praying for this and asking God for it to snow. He knew my heart! Every trip I've planned to go and take my kids to see snow hasn't worked out for one reason or another. Maybe this is why......I really hope the weatherman is right.....I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used to watch it all the time, but then got where I didn't understand it
Loved the first season (or maybe it was the second season). Then it just started getting really weird and less medical and more weird. The son was on drugs when I first started watching, then he was married to the girlfriend of Troy, and she was into scientology, but getting money from him for drugs? Then where did the kid come in. One day I'm watching it where Troy's girlfriend was a lesbian and model with a life size doll of herself, the next thing she's married to the son and they have a kid??? Then next time I turned it on they were all old, and the daughter of McNamara and the blond lady is grown and McNamara's wife was a lesbian. It just got to weird for me to understand. I remember how much I used to like it when it was more of a medical show when they began, but then it was not a medical show any longer. Same thing happened with ER. They got less away from the medical and more into the personal lives. Every once in awhile I'll catch it and it's okay, but not like when I first started watching.
My favorite drama show on TV right now is Rescue Me and the Tudors (although Tudors season ended). Don't really have any others.
I hardly have time to eat before husband
is moving chicken off the table to be refrigerated. I trust him because he has been a chef in the past. We have leftovers but not staying in the stove nor out on the counter either cooked or thawing out. He lets things thaw in the refrigerator to cut down on possible food problems.
My first time was with ex-husband and it was nothing

I heard from my husband some time ago
that females have been totally aggressive with him, even to the point of grabbing his crotch in a grocery store. Once again, not saying all young girls, but pray tell, why is the prison/jail rate up for females- because they want equal opportunity? Do any of you read the papers or watch TV? When I graduated high school not 1 single female (nor male for that matter) involved in any fight. Can any of the kids say that today? The girls fight as well as the boys. OMG, watch me age myself, but in high school if you came up pregnant (first of all not even allowed to be married, much less pregnant) you were outta school. I think I knew of maybe 2 girls out of a school of say 5 or 6 hundred that became pregnant and had to drop out. Ask the so called "good girls" of today about how many pregnant in their classes and see what answer you get. Also, something else- BCPs did not come out until a year or so after I finished school or at least I did not know of them.

My husband diagnosed 1 time with diabetes, get this
he ran 1 high blood sugar and was diagnosed. He did have elevated blood pressure but for years and years controlled his blood sugar and the elevation was always and I mean always low- the insurance company would NOT cover him because of that 1 only diagnosis. I tried talking to them- they told me 2 counts against him- unable to get life insurance on him. This diagnosis was made on a job entry and for 7 years he kept his blood sugar average or below, made no difference. I have been there.
This was 24 years ago, but on our first anniversary
we went to a really nice Mexican restaurant. We spent our honeymoon in Mexico (Cancun before it was a spring break destination). Most of our bridal party joined us for our anniversary dinner, and we had a really nice time together.
Happy anniversary:)
Happy anniversary:) You do have all day and it could be that he is working on the truck to avoid you since he forgot to get a card or make reservations......if tonight he hasn't done anything-
You two need to work on your communication and expectations. Has he ever been romantic? Ever done anything to celebrate birthdays? He may just not be used to it-that doesn't mean it has to be that way.
Let him know (talk to him not at him) that you like anniversaries to be celebrated. Let him know that you were hurt by his actions and that you want to celebrate this day. Don't forget-you haven't done anything for him yet either-it's not just about him showing you affection or acknowledging the day-it's your responsibility too.
as for the financial problem of him spending the money-that is a separate issue and you two will be a lot better off if you start communicating about your finances and working together on them. Set limits such as any purchase over $XX.XX has to be cleared with each other.
How would St. Lucia be for anniversary trip?
I have heard from a few people it is fabulous and worth every penny, but I wonder what anyone out there has heard. I really want a special and very memorable trip because this is our 25th anniversary. Are there any tips anyone can offer? Any insight anyone has would be much appreciated!
Fist anniversary confusion...sm
Me and my husband's 1st anniversary is coming up on December 15th. I want to do something special, i.e. mini-vacation, fancy dinner at home, dancing, etc. I can't decide on what we should do. Can any of you give me thoughts or ideas or even examples of what you did on your 1st anniversary? Any suggestions helpful and welcome!!! THANKS
We're celebrating an anniversary.
Our 24th wedding anniversary was on January 26. But, we were both sick with a bug that weekend, so let it go by. Now that we're healthy, we're going to go out for dinner and a movie. Pretty low-key, though. We both want to see the movie about Nixon and the Frost interviews. LOL. Not very romantic, but that's what we like. Then, we'll probably stop by the neighborhood pub for some food and a drink or two. We always run into friends or family there, so we'll have fun.
50th wedding anniversary gifts
they are 68 and 66 years old - a very active, healthy couple. . the date is less than a month away - any gift ideas? It is my fiance's sister and brother-in-law and he is not good at giving gifts and asked me to come up with something.
They don't...just celebrating an anniversary date will show...
the math.
30th Anniversary of Elvis' Death this week
I know some of you weren't even born or were toddlers, but for us older folks, I was just curious where you were when you heard the news that Elvis had died.
I was working in a very small factory pasting crystals in a base for radios (gee - what a job that was!) making $1.85 an hour and that was with shift differential. Anyway, I was working 2nd shift & heard the news just as I pulled into the parking lot. My supervisor cried all night and the plant manager played Elvis albums on the overhead speaker all night.
Just thought it would be interesting to see where everybody was.
Has anyone seen The Notebook? I watched it for the first time today. sniff sniff sm
I've never cried so much during a movie. Wow. I'm speechless. Especially the end. I think it's b/c I saw myself in Allie. I had a high school sweetheart and he went into the military and we lost touch. He found me, proposed, and I chose the "other guy." I regret it till this day.
That was 15 years ago. I found him on line 2 years ago, found out he has been married 3 times in 15 years and was fixin' to get a divorce! He told me he kept trying to find "me" in those other women and just couldn't (yeah right.... but it was nice to hear anyway).
So, the man I am married to now. Well, let's just say it's more convenient than love and my heart is broken today. If anyone has love like Allie and Noah had, you are one blessed woman.
I had it during my pregnancy a long, long time ago. Husband

I think this is about what I spend
I'm not sure yet, but I think it's about $200 a month. But there are people posting who spend less than that for several people!
I hardly ever use coupons. It just seems like most of the time they are for stuff I never use. No one doubles coupons up here, ever. This mountain community caters to tourists, so things are more expensive on the weekends, when the skiers and boaters are here. I avoid going to town at those times.
No, I would not go. If that means he goes and you spend TG by yourself so be it.
After enduring 13 years of the "in-laws" I gave my husband an ultimatum - either them or me and I meant it. I was not putting up with them anymore. Fortunately, he chose me and his kids, and our lives have been so peaceful for the past 6 years without them in it! I just severed the ties.
Good luck with your situation. I really feel for you.
My mom always says "stay away from those who disrupt your inner peace." I listened to her advice.
I pay $85 in a big city, but she does spend 45 sm
minutes or so washing, cutting and styling may between chin and shoulder length hair. Five minutes is ridiculous. I don't see how they can even do a good job in that amount of time.
Yes, I know $85 is high (plus tip). I have just had so many hack jobs at less money that I got scared and went to a trendier place in the city.
For so many of the students they spend more
time with the teacher than they do with their parents. These teachers are preparing these kids to be the future of our country someday. Look at the money that atheletes make for playing a game. It is ridiculous.
Spend most of the $$$ on the grandkids now.
Give our four kids and spouses $50.00 per couple to purchase something they would like. Usually my husband will give the men a pocket knife or some small tool (under $15.00) the women get a Christmas ornament for the tree each year. Used to spend more on them before they had their own children. Probably spend $75.00 each on each of the seven grandchildren. Always ask for nothing from them, as I feel that Christmas is really for the kids and now grandkids. They don't need to spend their money on us and we really need nothing. I usually will spend about $200.00 on my husband. Don't exchange with parents per their request (only 1 set left), or with my or DH siblings (too many). Just happy if everyone can stop by for the dinner which we hold every year for the family. Also, I pick things up all through the year, to help spread out the spending, which helps.
Make sure you lie down and spend
some time on several. We are happy with ours, and I think it's a Sealy. It's the one that doesn't transfer motion because DH is bigger than me and he moves around a lot.

some time on several. We are happy with ours, and I think it's a Sealy. It's the one that doesn't transfer motion because DH is bigger than me and he moves around a lot. Ours has a pillow topper. I believe it's best to have layers of different types of foam for the most comfort.
I hear bad things about the memory foam types. Not only do many people find them hot, they don't perform well for activities that aren't sleeping, if you know what I mean. I've never had one, but the problem was described as feeling stuck and not being able to move right.
I think the adjustable air mattresses sound like a ripoff and I was not impressed when DH insisted I lie down on one at the store.
How much do you spend on groceries....
per month, & how many in your family? Anything special adding to (or subtracting from) the bill, like vegetarian diet? What part of the country do you live in?
Just curious.
I'm in Florida and spend about $175/wk for 5 sm
I'm in Florida, and it is me, my husband, our 2 kids (son 7 and daughter 11), and my father-in-law, and I swear my FIL, who is 5Ǝ" and 158 lbs, eats more than my husband, who is 6Ɖ" and 345 lbs. FIL had to have a feeding tube put in last July, and I had to cut down meals by half because we were having so many leftovers and wasting money. Just when I thought I had it figured out, he was able to get the tube removed, so I'm back to making meals for an army. I just wish I had his metabolism as he just does not seem to gain weight and even had to go on high-calorie Ensure when he had the feeding tube to gain weight. I shudder to think of what my grocery bill will be when my son hits puberty I don't buy stuff for lunches here at home as we (FIL and I) will just eat a sandwich or leftovers from the fridge
As far as special foods, we don't really buy anything out of the ordinary. I buy frozen vegetables instead of canned unless it is for a recipe, and for a while we were buying meat at a butcher shop but have had to cut that out for now. It was really good but was close to DH's work, and if he couldn't pick it up while he was in the area, it was a 45-minute drive. I cook most things from scratch, except lasagna because I hate making it. Once a month, we have a luncheon at church that I bring a dish and a dessert, and I cook Wednesday night dinner there one night per month, but I get reimbursed for the Wednesday night dinner. I do include paper products and toiletries in with my grocery budget but that's it, and I usually go to Sam's once a month for those.
I have it easy compared to my parents though. My dad got paid once a month, and there were 4 kids at home all the time, 5 when my sister came up during the summer. They used to have 3 grocery carts slap full of food, and my mom figured out that it took something like 18 boxes of cereal to last a month, each one with a date marked on it so we didn't go through them too quickly. And to keep my brother from using a mixing bowl and a serving spoon to eat cereal We also had a freezer to keep extra bread and other things, and my mom also used to mix in powdered milk when the gallon was half-way gone. I never knew until I was grown, so she definitely blended it well.
I think I spend less at the store when
we eat out/order in. Of course, then our "entertaining" budget increases. But some things are cheaper to just order in. For example, pizzas -- I can get 2 large pepperoni pizzas from the local pizzeria for under $20. If I buy them in the store, I spend about $15 and then have to cook them and my kids don't like the frozen kind as well. The frozen kind are also smaller.
I just got groceries this past Friday and spent $200. I had an entire cart full. In addition to the coupons I had, I also had a 20% discount on everything (one of those reward plans for spending so much the previous 2 months). I got value packs of skinless/boneless chicken breasts - buy 1 get 1 free -- $15 packs of chicken, breakfast sausage on sale, ham steaks on sale, plus my 20% off all that.
Overall, I think I spend somewhere around $150 a week on groceries. There are 5 of us -- me, my hubs, and 3 boys -- ages 6 to 11.
What I notice that I spend more on are school lunches. It costs $2.00 a day per child and I don't think they actually eat it. I'm thinking about packing my kids' lunches each day. $2/day x 3 kids = $6/day x 5 days/week = $30/week x 4 weeks/month = $120 for lunch. YIKES!!! I think I can do better than that if I pack them.
Will spend about $300 for the grandkids..
we don't buy for anyone else. DH and I buy what we want throughout the year. This year though he wants a metal detector, probably around $1200 and I have the same amount to do something with. We don't really buy gifts for each other but we do go away for Christmas week to a cabin in the mountains that we rent, no phone, no TV, have to drive 12 miles to get cell service. We relax, read, snowshoe, ski, bring the portable DVD player and catch up on movies, sleep late. That's our gift to each other.
maybe you should spend some more money
seriously
right!!???okay... they say they want us to spend money
to stimulate the economy
spending money is good...
okay... gonna give me some?
I really think some people/media are out of touch.
Good thing I work 10 hours a day. Otherwise, watching news, which is pretty much all I watch in my off time (a few murder real stuff shows), would drive me nuts.
The Obamas spend too much.... SO MAD
Seems to me like the Obama's don't have very good budget planning skills, at home or in the "office". People are losing their jobs, just like all the people laid off from Crystler, and hey she is wearing $600 shoes!!!! What a great example!!!
I wouldn't spend so much as a penny... sm
At any store that sells puppies and kittens. Why? Because they all come from puppy mills or other questionable "breeders" (despite their denials). I would never put money in the pockets of a puppy miller.
He really doesn't want to spend his only vacation like that either and his ...sm
solution is to blow them off at the last minute with some kind of excuse.
I say we let them know now so his sister and nephew don't get there hopes up for the next six months.
