Thumb sucking

I sucked my thumb for many, many years and did not need braces.  My teeth are still perfectly straight at 51 years. Lucky me:)

my rule of thumb has always been--sm
if the critics hate it, I will definitely go out of my way to see it. If the critics love it, to me, it is usually the most boring movie I will have ever seen. I don't understand it, but it works for me! lol.
and neither one every sucked their thumb though - sm
my youngest (7) does now in times of stress and when she is upset, started this about a year ago; luckily does not do it much though (once a month maybe) so I don't think it will ever become a habit for her. Both my kids will probably need braces just due to some slight crooked teeth on the one, and my other is missing 2 teeth (the ones on either side of her top front teeth) so there is a gap between the front teeth and the canines, she looks like a little vampire. I know 8-y/o that are getting braces now but I think that is too soon as the 12-y/o molars will probably just screw up the alignment all over again and they will have to have braces twice (my neighbor's kid will have them 2 x but she already well aware of this). What a racket the dentists have going now.
That's often a great way to get your green thumb on. sm
I did it for a couple of years in Minneapolis (and I lived in the middle of "Concreteville" downtown). A grassroots (no pun intended) organization got a local company to donate (temporarily) their vacant lot next door, just outside of the downtown area, and the organization collected some ridiculously small fee from each gardener (like $15 or something) for the season, and then we each had a small (8' x 10' ?) plot to do with as we wished. It was fenced in, and locked (we had the combination) just to keep our produce from being stolen, and the plot was just a short bike ride away for me.

It's a great way to meet others in the community, as well. I'd be surprised if your city doesn't already have one in place, if not a number of them. I'd suggest calling one of the food co-ops (as I don't know how one would find the plots otherwise unless one stumbled across a notice about them), and they likely will know of such efforts near you.
I'm not particularly superstitious, but I did iron my thumb today. :)
Which I've never done.  I was ironing a shirt and was holding down the hem flat and ran the iron over my thumb.  Gotta nice blister and everything!  Then my dog tripped me with her leash on the way to the mailbox.  So I would say as far as Friday the 13th goes, I'm not having much luck.
I have a lot of pain on the fatty part of my hand just below the thumb. Anyone have that? nm

Sore thumb joints from hitting space bar (sm)
They are sore on the opposite side of the thumb, not the underside that hits the space bar.  Does anyone know anything I can wear on my thumbs to prevent this from getting worse?  I'm afraid I'm giving myself arthritis in my thumbs!  Thanks
I'm not working either; it's a good thing, since my thumb feels like it will soon fall off - n
