Carpet people pretty well. They sell furniture as well. I guess they just thought they might have some ideas on how to take care of the problem. They were going to have it patched, until the carpet/furniture store owner told them they could have it all replaced and covered by their homeowners insurance. Apparently the insurance company is allowing them to replace it because the adjuster went out and measured all the wall to wall carpeting yesterday and told them that the bedrooms would not be included.

I mentioned to SIL that their insurance premium may go up, and she said they already knew that, but they had no choice because it is an "eye sore." She is very, very particular about her house. To me it would make more sense just to replace the living room carpet. It's a small room, so they might be looking at 200-300 dollars for that room. I think that makes more sense than filing a big claim and then paying a higher premium because of it. But, to each his own, I guess.
