Yorkie! If I can get him shipped, HE'S MINE!  He will be as big as my Diet Dr. Pepper can! I LOVE these things...isn't he precious????
Miracle baby born with 2 faces

This was NOT in the Enquirer. This was really on the first page of the Lakeland Ledger in Florida.  An Indian infant was born with two (count them) two full faces. That is four eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, and the baby eats with both mouths.  They are calling this child the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess and a temple is being built to this goddess in the small town.  The family is being given lots of money and gifts, and visits!

You should see the picture of this kid.  Perfectly normal, except each side of the face is a full face.  Nothing else wrong that they know of.  I did not know what to think today, if I feel sorry for the child, or worried about how this defect will affect her life.  Also, what's it like to see with 4 eyes, and how much food will it eat with 2 mouths! Amazing. Maybe you can look it up on the web to see the pix.

Love it. That's where I'm from (Philly) and can spot a Philly one a mile away!

!!

Where in Philly? From there and ...

miss it terribly! My whole family is there.

Home for me is Philly....
I live in Oregon now, don't fly well, and all my family is there. The DH and I drive cross country every year to see them. I would give just about anyting to be with my sister, brother, and their families at this time of year! Our dad just passed a year ago, mother many years ago, so we are all that's left. If my DH did not have such a great job here we would be there!
Agree w/Philly...
what can you say: Cheesesteaks, Italian water ice, pretzels, TastyKakes, Hogies, pizza, Wise potato chips, Amoroso rolls...the list goes on!
Some snow in Philly
It's been snowing lightly for hours, but ground is barely covered. Expecting about 5 inches tonight, though. Haven't had any real snow this winter.

Philly and Shenandoah NP
It sounds like you enjoy U.S. history. If so, you shouldn't miss my hometown of Philadelphia. See Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and all the other sites run by the national park service. Olde City is the part of town that Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams walked through. Philly is a very walkable city, easy to get around. In addition, we have a great food culture here; everything from street food to haute cuisine. The Phila Museum of Art is pretty amazing. (It's not just the place where Rocky ran the steps.)

If you're looking for some beautiful vistas and you plan on being in DC anyway, it's not a very long drive to Shenandoah National Park, the first national park on the east coast. Geographically, the park is a long narrow strip through the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can camp, hike or stay at one of the lodges. Big Meadows is my favorite lodge, but stay in one of the annex rooms there, and pay a little extra for a room with a view/balcony. I love a little wine and cheese on the balcony while watching the sunset behind Masanutten Mountain. Be sure to try the buckwheat pancakes and blackberry syrup for breakfast. You can hike part of the famed Appalachian Trail if you'd like, or take part in some of the ranger programs. The place is full of history, as well. You can hike to, or ride the ranger van down to Camp Hoover, President Hoover's "Camp David". The new visitor's center at Big Meadows tells about the role of the CCC in the park during the Depression, and also the controversy about moving the local people out of the park to make way for the national park. There are beautiful waterfalls to hike to. (I'm not crazy about Dark Hollow Falls, which is the closest to the road and can be crowded during the summer.)You can also do some horseback riding in the park, as well. Shenandoah's Skyline Drive is also very, very popular with bikers (motorcycle and the pedal crowd). The drive is 100 miles long, with vistas, wayside cafes, campgrounds and two lodges along the way.

While you're on the east coast, be sure to have at least one breakfast at a diner!

These are my top two suggestions, but I have lots more. Email me if you'd like to hear more.
It's snowing just outside of Philly.
We'll see what happens tonight.
You Give Philly a Bad Name
Her life is not perfect. If it was she wouldn't be so full of venom. Don't let her cavalier attitude fool you. She is a spineless little whiner hiding behind her anonymity. She is the one I pity.
What's the best cut of meat for homemade philly...
steak subs?  Our family loves them and we usually buy the frozen philly cheese steak meat...but I just can't stomach the smell of it even cooking anymore because it is sooooo greasy.  I want to try to make some homemade from a fresh cut of meat.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!!
Philly Cheese Steak
I saw them making Philly Cheese Steak on the Food Network the other day and they used New York steak.  Kind of expensive, but it looked really good.  They said you could freeze it and then slice it thin while it was still slightly frozen (to make it easier), but I can't see why you couldn't have the butcher do it.
Me too....in the suburbs, outskirt of Philly. sm
Grew up in Philly, moved about 15 minutes out of the city. Love it here!!
Philly is #1....now live in the Pacific Northwest...

would give anything to live on the East Coast. This is like a time warp, still see blue eyeshadow, Farah Fawcett hair, and more flannel than I care to think about!

How to make a REAL Philly cheesesteak
Sorry! I sent this to the OP by email. My brain was turned off, and I didn't realize I wasn't posting to the board.
-------------------

I understand... if you are using those Steak-Umm type pressed and formed meat things, the smell is atrocious, and you end up with loads of grease. They smell oddly like fish to me. I don't know why.
I live in the Philly area, and when we want a cheesesteak (we don't call any sandwich a "sub" here), we generally just go down the street to our local cheesesteak and hoagie place and buy one. But, on occasion, I will make them at home. A top or bottom round roast makes the best steak meat. (I've used both and it doesn't seem to matter. The meat should be reasonably lean.) If you have a butcher who'll do the work for you, that's great. (In this area, you just say "sliced for cheesesteak" and they know what you want.) But you can buy the roast, partially freeze it, and then slice it very, very thinly. If you want to give it a real authentic Philly taste, just a tiny bit of oregano and garlic powder (very tiny bit) tossed in with the meat when you're cooking gives it just a boost. I never use cheez-whiz here. The big tourist trap cheesesteak place, Pat's, uses cheez-whiz, and that's an abomination! Ick! American cheese is the usual, but I really like provolone. I also like fried onions, and sometimes mushrooms on mine. If you use onions, take a good long time frying them so that they are carmelized and almost syrupy, not quick-fried to a crisp.

I didn't even comment on the rolls! That's a whole other topic!

I hope this helps. Enjoy your cheesesteak.
Nope, Missoui, Philly and New York

thank you, anon. And this, Philly, is why your posts are inappropriate.

GO PHILS! Forever a Philly phanatic!...nm
//
I live on the very edge of Philly, just into the suburbs.
Lots of people, lots to do. The weather changes a lot, which is good because I have a very short attention span. :) I love it here.
Philly/South Jersey accent
I have a Philly accent, though not as pronounced as some. I definitely say "wooder" for "water". But I don't have that over-long "Oh" sound that you hear around Philly. I do say certain phrases that are Philly-distinct. Like, "I'm gone downa shore," which means that I plan on going to the New Jersey seaside. And we tend to say "yiz" for the plural "you", using it the same way as southerners say y'all and New Yorkers say yooze.

Oh! And I do shout out, "Yo!" when I want to get someone's attention.
I'm from Philly so I love hoagies and steak sandwiches! nm

Wonder if they would take my first born?
I was gonna hold back, I think someone above said 20%, but after seeing your post may hold back the 30. I have already taken money out of an account to redo my house where I live, about $20 thousand (that counts as income)and with this upcoming closing, I will just set the 30% aside. I detest the IRS but also fear because I do not want them showing up at my home!
I was born 10-26-62, ...
dh was born 10-03-63
My dad always used to say I was born in the -(sm)-
wrong century! Actually, I would like to travel back in time to around 1915, so I could attend the Panama Pacific Exposion that was held in San Francisco. The only remnant of that amazing, year-long event is the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District.
Well, lets see, I was born in
1943 so I think probably around before most on these posts and lived through a myriad of history and information. What I said was if Merck did not make the profits, another drug company would. That is all. Millions, trillions made all the time on drugs. I am sure all pharmaceutical companies lobby for their drugs. If not 1 drug company, just will be another. I have no children that would require this and I do not live in Texas but if they are going to be mandatory in Texas, probably coming your way before long.
Born in Korea, but.....
I would say the guy definitely Americanized during his 15 years here. After all, he spent 2/3rds of his life here. Now honestly, look at our society over the years - what is more American than using a gun to solve your problems? Gun violence is NOT part of the Korean culture.
No, not illegal, born here but
from the getto part of town. Don’t assume about things, ok? We are talking about a person who has never held a regular job, has lived off welfare, gotten food stamps and besides that, it is no where close to slave labor. OMG. She has been around so long she does what is the basics and then watches a lot of televison. Slave, she usually calls me and asks if I have anything for her to do.
why could not have I been born rich
instead of goodlooking?
for me, they have to be born 1966 or later...

Born and raised here but.......
I have never had sweetbreads or like you call it organ meat, not in my lifetime either unless starving. I know of no one in my family nor have I ever met that eats such. Oh BTW, my big chain grocery carries liver (as I suppose most stores in the US do) but have never seen the other organ meats you speak of so I guess in the south maybe not so popular?
Nov. 22, 1990 my son was born. sm
He was due on that date, kind of unusual for a baby to actucally come on their due date. I went into labor about 10:00p.m. on Wednesday night while watching "It's a Wonderful Life". So, labor all night long with really bad back labor. Found out about 5:15a.m. he was feet first (went to the doc on Tuesday and he was head first). So had a c-section and he arrived at 6:13a.m. I didn't get the turkey and all the trimmings but something so much better. Of course his b-day doesn't always fall on Thanksgiving but it did yesterday. It was fun visiting with all the family and hearing their take on that day. My mom's first thought was who will make the broccoli casserole? LOL!
She is just beautiful and was born on my b-day
I have vacationed at Myrtle Beach many many times. I had a friend from high school move there a couple of years ago and she loves it there. Being a resort town you just have to deal with a lot of tourists certain times of the year and right after graduation look out for the teenagers. That is where I went right after graduation (and hey, I didn't end up in jail! LOL)
Thanks - I love it too - was born there sm
My parents moved to Jacksonville but I still go to Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach almost every year.
It says she was Brazilian born - nm

Do you think the ONE world leader has been born yet? If so, who.
nm
I was not born rich but over the years
I have had untold wealth given to me, quite a bit. I think where this comes from is the fact that I always and I mean always think about the underdog. I give from my heart to things whenever I can, when I hear a story that I feel I should try to give, animals, people in distress, you name it and if the story says I should try to help a particular cause, I do. I really have tried to impress upon my children and grandchildren IF you give from the heart, it so much comes back to you. I have not run out of money giving, in fact just the opposite, had wealth literally fall in my hands and I think this is why. What a person needs to understand is I give because I really want to, not because I have to and I never look for a return but there always is. I cannot count the times when giving and here money comes back. This is how I try to live my life.
you'd bet your first born on an anonymous post

I think YOU might be ill and need a therapist.  I'm not that poster but I think your response here is assumptive and presumptive and you *seem* so much smarter than this.....you cannot assume anything on a public board online....and you said YOU'D BET YOUR FIRST BORN on your thoughts about that poster.....I think you need to recheck your priorities...........

JMO..........

Born and raised in Ewa Beach,
have not been home in almost 21 years. I think I like Bermuda better.
depends on how the kids were born...

How do I know this?  My hubby and I have Hep C (in remission) and our child was born via vertical C-section (she was in a posterior-transverse lie, almost breech).  She never got the hepatitis because she was not born vaginally.

There's so much online to back up what I'm saying, just check it out - Google for the issue.  She has been tested twice and is totally negative.  *happy*

BTW, specialist hepatologist told me I'll never die from this disease, I have that mild a case my entire life (since my 20s)...and have remained at Stage 1 all these years....

I, too was born in the 40s. Sure you heard of disrespect and

bad kids and teenagers, but there it was never, ever to the degree we see it today, and all sorts of new problems like the drug addiction, animal cruelty, arson, carjacking drive by shootings,  constant robberies, etc. In my home town a chain of convenience stores was hit about 5 times in the last few weeks. They say they caught the four who were doing it. Also on today's news was the report they caught the murderer they have been looking for. . a youth who killed someone in my home town over drugs. We had our problems back then, but nothing like this. It is totally out of hand.

Was born and raised in WV. Now I live
just across the state line in VA. Am still a WV girl at heart. Can't think of a better song to sing. Would rather sit in the sun as opposed to raking leaves though! LOL!
Oh, so it's better to abort a child then let it be born

You have a right to have an abortion obviously, but I don't think you have much room to judge someone else accidentally getting pregnant since you obviously accidentally got pregnant too.  I guess you're judging her decision to give birth to the baby then - not the fact that she got pregnant.  interesting.

This reminds me of one of my sister's friends.  She is a catholic (no offense to catholics - it's just what she is), and she has had 3 or 4 abortions because she cheats on her husband and doesn't want "2 different kids from 2 different men."  Yeah, she judges people that have kids from 2 different guys, yet she just aborts babies left and right to avoid having the kids! The interesting thing is she just had a baby that was supposed to be her husband's but the kid looks NOTHING like him.  She disgusts me.  I can't figure out why my sis is still friends with her!

I was so tired after my children were born (sm)
I wanted to be left alone because my house and myself were a mess. I was exhausted and did not have enough help from family, but the kind of mess you don't want your friends seeing. I should clarify that I had a c-section each time, so was recovering from that. I would maybe bring her food and give it to whoever answers the door with a note that says "I know you're still exhausted - I'm here if you need me - call me when you're up to it." And leave it at that. Just be patient. Unfortunately some of my friends abandoned me too and a few weeks later when I needed them, they were unavailable.
People don't 'become' gay - they are BORN gay.
