There's talk about creating one in a couple of years...sm

In Reply to: Is there an option for a charter school in your area? - anon

Some of the areas in our state that have had charter schools start up have had much better test results and happier parents than the public schools.

I had it done a couple of years ago too
It really was not that bad. My understanding of why they only will do two quadrants at a time is that it is because they will not numb up both sides of your mouth at one time, so it is an upper and a lower quadrant done together.

My sister also had to have it done last week, but the weird thing is they only said she needed two quadrants done (I believe on the same side, so upper and lower). She or I neither one could get our heads around that, so she decided to "treat" herself and have the other two quads done as well.

Also, I do not have dental insurance, but had bought a plan from dentalplans.com (had the Patriot Plan at the time I had this done). It was about $90 per quad with the plan, but around here it was $300 per quad without the plan.

Good luck!
A couple of years ago my son was a Lego man (sm)
We just spray-painted some boxes red, yellow and blue and cut holes for his arms and head to go through, put two small boxes over his shoes, and printed out a lego emblem and glued to the front. It was really easy and really cool!
A couple of years ago for Christmas sm
I got my daughter, who is an NYU graduate, a sewing machine for Christmas. They didn't even have a home ec classroom in her high school, all academics. No sewing, no foods classes. (That is where I learned to cook, my mother was a terrible cook).

All the "kids" are into Project Runway, and she and her roommates wanted to try to design some clothes. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. (I learned to use a simple sewing machine when I was 12 years old, and she learned it very quickly, too). LOL.

Everyone needs to know how to sew, by hand, and by machine.
Unfortunately we've had to do that for the last couple of years
We really wanted to go on expensive family vacations, but we have a rather large credit card bill that we're trying to pay down so we decided no elaborate vacations until we can really afford it.
When I was looking for a puppy a couple of years ago...sm
I was looking for a female and I wanted to name her Jasmine. I ended up with a darling little male puppy, so I settled for Jasper.
I'd say she has a couple of years left.

My grandmother died a couple years ago.
She was not a churchgoing woman but believed in God nonetheless. As we were setting up the funeral arrangements, the pastor asked what Bible verses my grandma would have liked read at the funeral. We told him nothing particular, just whatever he wanted. She wasn't a churchgoer. Well, this Christian pastor took MY GRANDMOTHER'S FUNERAL as an opportunity to tell everyone there that she wasn't going to heaven because she wasn't "born again." I have never been SO MORTIFIED in ALL MY LIFE!!! So, believe me, I have hostility towards Christians who try to "save me" or any of my family.
I stopped watching a couple of years ago....
whatever did happen to Carter? I loved when he was on there. How in the heck did Luka and Abby get together again??? I know he was with that nurse and her son and that's it. I did see one commercial where Abby was pregnant? I'm sure I'm way out of the loop now. It just ain't like it used to be.
When I adopt my granddaughter in a couple of years
it is not going to make a difference to her dad - he could care less about her (literally). With my daughter, though, our relationship is already nonexistent so I don't think it could get any worse when I change her daughter's last name to my maiden name. She is more upset that the child has become accustomed to me being the one "playing" momma and calls me that sometimes. I don't refer to myself as "mamma" to my GD, but she choses it to use it from time to time. My daughter thinks she can spit out a kid, walk away from it, and still take all the credit for success at potty training, dance recitals, the child's extensive vocabulary...all the while not visiting, only calling once every few months, not paying court-ordered child support, send presents on special occasions...

A name is just a name. My 4 yo GD told my daughter she was going to call her "sissy" now instead of "momma." My daughter started crying and the child said, "don't cry. We'll find a way for all of us to be together somehow." Out of the mouths of babes. Think my daughter actually heard the child was saying she wanted all 3 of us to have a relationship? Nope. Too wrapped up in herself to listen.

I think people overreact to names. I think it is the relationship that counts, and if the family of Heartbroken doesn't see that, it is the child's loss and that is who I feel sorry for.
A couple years ago I asked about the same thing - sm
it my case it turned out to be the dog food. Maggie was on Purina One, I switched her to Wellness a good quality dogfood, and presto no more smell. So if the dog has always been stinky the dogfood may be to blame.
Have used only cell phones for probably a couple of years.
Saves us about $80-85 a month.
We had this problem a couple of years ago but from a cousin.... sm
Forget the medicated crap. It does not work that well. Take a bottle of Crisco oil and put it on the person's head. Wrap the hair in plastic and leave it for a minimum of 4 hours. Then wash the hair in dishwashing liquid (of course one that cuts grease). Do this once every 7 days for 2 weeks. No more lice problems. My eldest has gorgeous hair. Super thick, super long and this took care of it. I did also take the time to take a comb and work in through her hair to be on the safe side.

Yes, I of course washed all bed linens, pillows, stuffed animals etc. I personally used Crisco oil and Palmolive dishwashing liquid. Worked like a charm! And BTW: this was actually recommended by a doctor as he even says the OTC products work but are not that GREAT!

Hope someone can talk to this lil girl's parents or the school steps in and does. Hate to see anyone living through this. At times in our lives, we all made fun of for some reason or another... I would hate it to be this way for this child.
I lost 77 pounds on WW a couple of years go. I agree with
meeting and learn from others new recipes or great low cal/low fat things at the store. On-line or at meetings you cant go wrong with WW IMO.
I tried the Jergens stuff in the tube a couple of years ago and
it did really well. People thought I had been in the tanning bed.
I grew up in FL, too, and we got these every couple of years, no permission slips. sm
I forget who did it, but it was one of the service organizations in town. The Lions Club did the hearing tests, somebody else did vision. They do it as a service to those families who either can't afford the exam or are just ignorant to the fact that it should be done. There's nothing invasive about it, it's a service to the community. I understand your kid has a special situation, but save your energy for something bigger.
Martha Stewart did it on her show a couple years ago.
I wrote the directions down and never got to them.  I remember you soak them and dry them  and then sand them lots - I think acrylic paint and glaze.  There are lots of local craft shows where I live and there are a couple gals that do them - bird houses, bowls, one does the neatest bright red apple ones.  Just looks so neat and think it would be fun.  SO - you might try doing a Google on Martha Stewart/gourds or something like that.  Good luck.
My mom noticed this when she started glaucoma meds a couple years ago - sm
Her lashes are so long now that they actually hit the inside of her glasses lenses! Amazing.
I'm sorry. It's rough losing a pet. I lost my dog, Tate a couple years back. SM

He was a sheltie and he used to lay under my desk when I worked and I would rub him with my foot and he was a great foot warmer in the winter!  I used to say, he wasn't my dog, I was his person.  He got sick and then his liver failed and I had to have him put to sleep because he was suffering.  I cried for weeks!  I still haven't gotten another dog.  My kids have been begging me and they've almost wore me down, but for a long time after Taters died, I just couldn't bring myself to even think about another dog.  I compromised and got the kitty last summer.  I've never had a cat before, so I didn't know if I'd like a cat or not.  I've always been a dog lover, but I've been quite taken with my little cat.  He's ornery little guy and I love to play cat and mouse with him.

Listen to me just gush!  Sorry about that.

Creating your own web store sm
Anyone here ever created your own web store?  If so what software did you use?  I'd like to give it a try some time down the road and am checking out software, thought maybe someone had used a good one.
I wouldn't have quit - I'd have reported her for creating

Actually it is answering the one who said should be canned, creating hostile
work place- yours was not a good working situation also. I think people, unless in your situation, just do not realize what a problem others have. It is not something you try to do by making so many trips to the bathroom. People working for others sometimes just have to suck up things and as my mother would have said, consider the source- if you are rude, crude, inconsiderate, lacking manners- a person fits this category and you just take with a grain of salt and overlook others like this.
Wow, a couple of people need to take a couple of happy pills!

Did ya ever just wanna talk about nuthin' just to talk?

As I said before in another post, I miss everyone so much...

So, I have absolutely NOTHING to talk about.  Love my new job, love that spring is on the way, and I love that my belly is absolutely filled up with pancakes my husband kindly made for me just now...even though it's lunchtime and not breakfast.  I'm one of those freaks that could eat breakfast-type foods at every meal.

...and that reminds me that it's almost that time of year to order some baby chicks for next month.  Laying hens, not for meat or anything, just eggs and entertainment.  I can't wait for warm weather--it's been a long HARSH winter this year.  In fact, I think we're due for another ice storm at the end of the week.

I hope everyone who stops by to read my note about nothing finds themselves and their families in good health.  Miss you all, even the ones that can't stand seeing that "Hayseed" name up there.

Go try it, talk, talk and listen sm
Counselors are trained to "listen" and direct you to talk (not them). I have transcribed many, many mental health reports. They do dig deep and keep it going for a very long time, very long, usually (perhaps not for you). But if you both don't tell the truth, you are wasting your money, so why not just get it all out on the table and get it over with and get on with your lives? Don't pussy foot around, get it all out and deal with it. Gosh, life is too short to put on a show, it's not a dress rehearsal, it's life. Go forward, forgive, forget and forge ahead. Don't need a degree for that!! But a little help can't hurt. Might help.
My husband is 7.5 years younger. Been together almost 20 happy years...nm
nm
My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
Been with a man 13 years older, now with a man 4 years younger.
Younger is better, at least in my case ;)
Sorry, meant 75 cents. Still, that was years and years ago.

I studied to be a scopist years and years ago
Back in the early 1990s I took a course called Note reader Scopist. They read court reporter notes (those long skinny papers that looks like a cash receipt) and types them into documents. I had found the course through something called At Home Professions but just didn't finish it because it was too expensive for me. But I am familiar with them and even found my book from the first course I took. Looking back I think it would have been a blast if I had kept up with it.

It is definitely legitimate. A lot has changed since the early 90s, so I'm not too familiar with the industry now. I do remember what was really weird was it didn't take a lot for me to learn it. For instance I could look at a line of court notes and see something that looked like: NV p srn - and I seemed to know exactly what it said. Just weird. My DH used to say that I understood it because I was an alien and my ship crashed in Roswell. HA HA HA Anyway...that's what I know about it. But if you Google note reader scopist or at home professions i'm sure you could probably find a lot of info.
I have been vegetarian on/off for 35 years, was vegan for about 5 years sm
not that hard. Right now, I am having so many issues with food allergies and celiac disease, having to give up nightshade veggies...nothing left to eat. I am eating some meat now, but not when the gastroparesis sets in!

Being vegan is not hard...unless you are a celiac. This is how I figured out the celiac part because so many of the meat analogs and vegan packaged foods use gluten for the protein and I got really sick from it. I gave up all the premade things and the whole grains with gluten and I was fine.

There is vegan and then there is VE-GAN. By definition, vegans don't wear, use or consume anything that is derived of animals...no leather shoes, most shampoos and toothpastes are off the list, as are deodorants. No wool or silk. Anything with soap usually has animal byproducts. It is very involved and rather difficult to do.

Giving up meat, eggs and dairy is no big deal, except for cheese. You hear that ad about "comfort proteins" in a baby formula and there is such a thing. Mother's milk, be it human, cow, goat, whatever...contains a chemical that triggers the release of endorphins in the brain so that feeding feels good in more ways than one. The purpose of this is ensure that the nursed young want to nurse and thrive. Human milk has a lot of these, so does cow's milk and cow juice triggers the same reaction in the adult human brain. Cheese is concentrated milk and therefore these chemicals are also concentrated. As a result, cheese is an addictive substance. This is the hardest thing to give up when going vegan. Vegan cheese substitutes are nasty and they don't melt. If a dairy-free cheese melts, it contains casein, an animal protein and not vegan.
I studied this years and years and years ago
Most definitely is legitimate. In the late 1980s I studied to be a note reader scopist through a group called At Home Professions. I loved it, but unfortunately could not continue due to no funds. It was reading the court reporters notes which looked like a grocery receipt with a bunch of letters scattered on it. The weird thing was I found it extremely easy. For instance I would see a line that looked like: av e cr, and for some reason I would know what it said. My DH told me that's because I'm an alien and my ship landed in Roswell. HA HA. Well I know that a lot has changed, after all it's been over 20 years since I took the first course and know a lot of it is computerized now, but it is most definitely legitimate and I've heard people like to do it. I think I remember one of the courses was in medical terminology and another course was in legal terminology. Should be able to find a lot of it on google, or maybe go to your local college if they offer it and talk to an instructor.
My mom had a couple of

brothers who wet the bed until they were about 13!  There was no abuse and it was a model household.  Bedwetting is very common in boys.  My brother also wet the bed until he was about 7 or 8.  He quit when he got a brand new bed.  My step-dad (ignoramus!) thought that proved he was being lazy, but this is a phenomenon that happens a lot, that a new bed stops the bedwetting.  Michael Landon even made a movie about it.

My daughter wet the bed until she was about 4.  (My two boys never did.) The solution for her was simply waking her up at about 12:30 every night and walking her to the bathroom.  After about 3 or 4 days (I am not exaggerating) she never wet the bed again.  That is all it took to train her body to wake up when her bladder was full.  I'm not saying that it would necessarily work for this child, but I am saying that his mother, winner that she is, probably never thought about how she could help him solve this problem.  It might be easier than you think.

Other couple....
If other couple are that into sex that they like hanging pics around and acting out in front of people, maybe they are using him for a third person (if you get my drift...) Lots of people in that lifestyle that you would never know about.
I have a couple (sm)
Inis, which is a perfume from Ireland that smells like the sea, and Amazing Grace by Philosophy. I am looking for a new scent, though, as I have been wearing these for a while. Am interested in Dune by Dior and the lily of the valley perfume....hmmmm
A couple from me...
My nephew (now 27 years old) used to day "pink-honk" for ping pong and "cowadoctor" for helicopter.

I also hate to hear "ax" for ask.
here's a couple
feminine products and birth control. they are the dumbest commercials and do they really need to advertise them anyway?
I took a couple....(sm0
...English (the 6-hour) and Psychology. Basically, what you save is the tuition, not the study. You'll see people on various forums saying they studied for 23 seconds and passed, but don't believe it.

Study guides vary in quality, so I can't really advise you on that except to check reviews on Amazon and places like that, and also make sure that it's one that covers the current exam because CLEP does change them.

The exams themselves aren't "tricky", but they do require you to know the subject.
A couple of thoughts.....sm
The pain could be from either the swelling, peripheral neuropathy or a blood clot.  You should see a doctor right away as if you have a clot it could break off and cause a stroke or heart attack.
sometimes in couple relationships

one couple is the _leader_ couple and the other is the _follower_ couple.  It may just be that after a period of time, this couple is feeling that they want to spread their wings a bit and establish their own traditions...and just don't know how to communicate that to you without hurting your feelings (which hurts because of the noncommunication and you are left to wonder what is going on!).

You have extended your offer for your New Year's party.  Maybe pick a time when you know that no one will be home at your neighbors and call to leave a casual message that even if they have something else planned, they are welcome to drop in for whatever time they could spend so you and yours can wish them a happy start to the new year.  Otherwise, I would just let things play out.  When the time is right to talk about what is going on, you and the other family will know it.  Try to keep an open mind and a good relationship.

I have a couple of techniques.
I read the bible in bed. It is the only book that I am motivated enough to keep redirecting my brain until it focuses on the message. Otherwise my brain keeps doing what yours is, reaching for the same addictive ideas to obsess over.

Are you aware of any thoughts that trigger relaxation? There are just a few memories I can conjure up that cause the relaxation to start. Like lying in my grandmother's hammock in the sun, listening to leaves rusting in the breeze and the occasional motorboat buzzing by on the river below. Ahhhh, I'm there.

Another one is swinging on my swingset on a very sunny day in my back yard one sunny summer day. Overhead there is the occasional sound of a prop plane high in the sky, sounding like a big, lazy insect.

If you can remember something like that and have your mind go over those details and allow yourself to relive the relaxation, then you are "meditating."

But I didn't figure out how to even recognize this until I took biofeedback.

(But I also use melatonin, Effexor and lately Benadryl to help my annoying brain, and I can tell you there are meds that cause BIG problems for me, like Topamax).
just a couple more ideas
Some good ideas on stretcher.com and suite101.com for using leftovers. I always end up with a few tbsps of corn or fresh peas, carrots or other veggies. I keep a bucket (icecream) container in the freezer and add my veggies to that and then make veg. soup. I also save the juices off of roasts, hams, canned veggies if not used, etc. and put in freezer in ziplock bags to make soups or even gravies. Good idea to freeze in ice trays and add as needed.

I have to include my favorite daytime lunch for myself. A batch of instant potatoe soup in a jar. There is nothing hot that can be quicker. I gave everyone one I knew a jar of this for thier desk last year for christmas.

Potato Soup Mix
1-3/4 cups instant mashed potatoes
1-1/2 cups dry milk
2 Tb. instant chicken bullion
2 tsp. dried minced onion
1 tsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. ground white pepper
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/8 tsp. turmeric
1-1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1 tbsp popcorn butter flavoring.

Combine all ingredients. in a bowl and mix. Makes 6 servings. Place in 1 quart canning jars to store. Instructions to attach to jar: To serve: place 1/2 cup mix in soup bowl and add 1 cup boiling water. Stir until smooth.
Couple of methods.
For slimming without looking like you are building muscle, jumping rope is just the ticket. Of course you have to wear really good, supportive shoes and have undamaged knees to do it.

Otherwise, yoga, pilates, working with light weights, and an eliptical machine have been my favorites.

I currently walk my dogs for my workout, but with huskies I get an upper body workout and ab workout at the same time, LOL. And dogs are very good motivation for walking if one fits into your lifestyle. :oD

couple recipies.
Cornbread salad is an easy quick one that lasts about a week so it can be made a couple days ahead of time. I do this and bring home and empty bowel every time. I also add a can of white shoepeg corn. http://www.recipeusa.org/Salads/Cornbread%20Salad%2012903.htm

Shoepeg Corn Salad - 2 cans white shoepeg corn drained, 1 lg bellpepper, 1 lg onion, 1 lg tomatoe chopped, 1/2 cup mayo, S&P, Chill. Make a couple days ahead of time. Can double or tripple recipe.

Have recipe for Italian chicken roll ups like cordone blue with ham, cheese, italian breadcrumbs, olive oil that you bake and can slice or serve whole, make ahead of time or serve cold after baked.

Also Chicken roll ups that you do with chicken, green onion, cheese, lemon peper and roll up in crescent rolls, mix remaining with cream chicken/cream mush. and bake.

If you have company you need to throw a breakfast casserole in fridge for breakfast next morning, just bake and serve.
sorry should be couple of months.
;(
I loved the first couple of those they did but since then
it has gotten just too cutthroat for me, and the people they have on there are not likeable enough to make me want to root for any of them.
I read a couple of them too
and thought they sounded really nice, especially the ones on Friendship and Marriage. Congratulations to you both!! I hope you find just what you're looking for.
I say there are a couple of things to look at....
1. What would the apartment or extended hotel cost? I'd look at the latter because a lot of people use them when they commute. With gas being $3/gallon and him making a 4 hour total commute a day it is probably cheaper to do this.

2. With his job, is there any way he can change his work hours to avoid the worst of the traffic?

3. If it were my husband I'd probably be willing to do it just until we moved because I wouldn't want to drive 4 hours a day myself! However, I would miss him being at home but we'd talk a lot on the phone while he'd be at the place he's sleeping at.
A couple inside
If you want to put together your own curriculum, sort of in the Charlotte Mason, classical style of education, there is nothing better than
http://amblesideonline.org/. They kind of lay out a plan of study for you for each level, and most of the materials can be found online or free at the library. My sister is using it for her 2nd and 4th graders.

Another one that I use for lots of extra printouts is
enchantedlearning.com

In fact, I was just printing out some of the Christmas worksheets for my 2nd grader to work on.
I have a couple of questions
When is your daughter's b-day? I.E. is she "young" or "old" for her grade? Also, is she involved in a lot of extra curricular activities, sports, etc? I had a child in advanced math and one was just too tough so he took it later on. Really I see no harm in waiting either.
A couple of suggestions are.....sm
1. Buy baby clothes/onesies in 3-6 month or 6-9 month size. Everyone buys the newborn/0-3 stuff and moms always love it that I give them something for the child to grow into.

2. Make the mom a basket of lotions, bubble bath stuff, etc. for her. She'll appreciate some extra pampering tools!
Here's a couple for you -- you pick!

1)  I was on the phone with my boyfriend sitting on a no-back barstool.  I was rocking back and forth against the wall when the barstool went out from under me.  It not only went under me, the leg came back to jam me up the rectum.  Of course I dropped the phone and immediately started yelling, IT HURTS, IT HURTS!!  My boyfriend stayed on the phone all that time and my mom had to pick it up and tell him I'd have to call him back later I just gave myself an impromptu colonoscopy.  Talk about red!!  My butt hurt for like a week.  I couldn't even poop for 2 days after that.

2)  My boyfriend (now husband) and I were making out in an orchard one night.  Afterwards, he took me home and the next morning I awoke to find my entire backside covered with poison ivy.  I also noticed I was missing about $60 I had shoved into my pockets the night before.  I immediately called my boyfriend and explained that it must have fallen out of my pocket in the orchard.  Since $60 was a lot of money to me then (now it barely fills up my tank), I asked him to go back and look for it.  Lucky for me he found it and I used it to buy some Calamine lotion.  Man, did my butt itch for a week.  We still laugh about this one.
