i have a son that is a really good kid, never gets into trouble. but there are times here at home i have to get onto him and when i do, he takes it very personally and gets mad. i think there is such a thing calle hypersensitive kids. maybe your son has a touch of that.

If you make it legal then it opens up a whole other can of legal worms. I don't think I want my tax money spent on settling the dispute between hoX and hoY. Even if they are paying taxes by making it a legal transaction, most will be doing it "under the table" (ha ha) and it will only be a burden on society, not a way to make more tax money.
As for paying their medical bills - I'm sure we the taxpayers are already doing that thru Medicaid.

Woody Haralson was the host of a documentary about marijuana and how it came to be illegal in the US. During Prohibition, one man in D.C. wanted to make it illegal, but there was no data about it. So Congress ordered tests and everything came back finding no evidence of long-term effects so Congress found no reason to make it illegal. The man in D.C. wasn't happy, so he lobbied and was able to get a tax passed on pot.
Pot is not illegal to own wihout the tax stamps, which have never printed or distributed to The People. Pot is not illegal in certain quantities in certain states. Possession of marijuana without the stamps is the real reason it is illegal.

We are talking about a person who has never held a regular job, has lived off welfare, gotten food stamps and besides that, it is no where close to slave labor. OMG. It escaped somehow from its enclosure (they think it scaled the fence somehow as they know it did not go out the cage door). The tiger was shot and killed. It had previously attacked a zoo keeper a year ago (they lived obviously or it would have been killed then probably).

immoral. Those laws (drug use in particular) change according to societies. Throughout history humans have chosen to change their mental status through use of substances, alcohol, chanting, fasting and religion! Pot is no more harmful (and probably less so) than alcohol.
We are wasting so much tax money on imprisoning people for using a weed, in the privacy of their own homes - what a collosal waste of money.

You are talking about ancestors who came thru Ellis Island. They were screened for disease and such. Those healthy enough were let in the country legally. Those not were turned away. They weren't sneaking over the borders.

I do believe it's illegal to feed the deer in PA
because of the harm it causes (see other postings). Your neighbor might get in some serious trouble for doing this. My father and uncles were deer hunters and every year would put salt licks out for them, but about 30 years ago, they stopped. I really don't know the reason, but I would seriously do some checking on this.
You could tell your neighbor that she's making it easier on the hunters as they will start trusting humans and think that they (hunters) are coming to feed them. If that doesn't get her to stop, then show some printed material on the laws. DH isn't hunting this year or I would look it up in the manual he used to get.

It's never a good idea to feed them, anywhere. I was just reading an article about this. When deer are fed, they tend to concentrate where the food is being left for them. The local population of deer increases, the food left out for them is not enough to support all of the deer, and so many of them starve. It's actually counter-productive. Deer adapt to the winter weather. They spread out in their environment. Their metabolism slows. They move less and eat less. Some die over the winter, of course. It is nature, after all. But feeding them is not good for them. Your animal loving neighbor is actually hurting the deer.

who moved in a trailer who moved on the same 10 acres I live on. The land doesn't belong to me so it wasn't up to me whether or not she lived there. Anyways she took it upon herself to give my address as her own. Her mail started coming to my box. Never asked or nothing. Then she would go check the mail in MY box and sometimes my sales papers would go missing and such. Didn't like it at all. I started making sure I got the mail first and not giving her her mail. She would come ask if she had mail and I would say no you sure don't. I think she got the point. She doesn't get mail at my box anymore. LOL Got rid of that problem.

Just heard on NBC news that no illegal drugs or
alcohol were found. There was a rolled $20 bill found that had no traces of drugs. ET just reported that there were drugs found in the bill. Do any of us think the real truth will ever come out?
Use of illegal drugs, alcohol consumption, and cigarette
smoking are just as prevalent today as they were 20+ years ago. Perfect example: Look at the DARE program, that was introducted in grade school amost 20 years ago. There are no hard statistical facts that there are less drug abusers today than there were 20 years ago, so that 'program' was a complete failure and a waste of tons of money. These types of behaviors will go on until the end of time. No amount of education or imprisonment is every going to stop people from engaging in these types of behaviors.

got hers actually at WalMart. It was around $100 and very pretty with her birth stone and she wears it every day. Might not after she graduates, but that's up to her. Younger DS probably won't want one either, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
I did get the brochures from the jewelry stores at the mall, but they were unbelievably expensive.

I have a 17yr old and he will always have a key to my house unless he gives me reason to think otherwise. I still (at age 40) have a key to my parents house (why wouldn't I) what is the big secret? Really tired of this thread. Don't want to offend anyone but this seems to have really gotten out of hand. Just give him the key or don't!

thing. If your daughter does leave home, you MUST report her as a runaway to protect yourself.
You didn't mention, but are there other children in the home? If so, this is definitely something to take into consideration. If they are and they are being exposed to the constant "turmoil" this can be perceived in the eyes of social services as a form of "abuse" so you'd need to tread carefully.
Right now, take the emotional part out of it, take back control and know that a couple of years from now you will (hopefully) look back at this time and you and your daughter will have a few laughs. I remember when we hit that point and I just smiled silently thinking "I remember someone told ME back then I'd make it through this." You CAN handle this!

I did the same thing, broke up with this guy badly, he was so in love with me and I always felt guilty about it, especially since he stayed single and did not date for about 12 years. He knew I felt bad about it though as my BF told him years after our breakup that I have always felt guilty/bad about how I handled things. But I was a stupid 16-y/o so what do you expect. Sometimes have regreted it as he is now a successful architect, but then again something just did not click, hence the breakup. He finally met someone and is married now about 8 years. We exchange Christmas cards but that is it. I never formally apologized to him but I know he knows how I feel/felt.

was/is tired of the withdrawal method to be blunt about it. As I said he's only used 2 in maybe six months though (with me). Believe me I questioned him about it....and am being aware. I check all the email as he hates dealing with it, and the bills, he has no secret accounts, etc. He is pretty much an open book. His phone is a company phone and they would fire him if he used the phone for anything other than work or calling me, same with the company car. He is a real germaphobe as well, my kids call him Mr. Monk as a joke, he is not that bad, but sometimes it is, and I don't think would put me in the position of possibly getting a STD. He is also one of those men who would confess if he cheated as the guilt would eat him up. His honesty and fairness can be a pain sometimes, he won't even haggle when it is possible to like buying our house, and some property we have, did not even try to get it cheaper, same with our cars. I have to tell him to be quiet and let me handle the negotiating when I can. He has always been straight with me. Supposedly he cheated the 2-3 x because his wife used sex as a weapon/reward, and just was one of those women who really did not enjoy it....whether this is true of course I will never know. But I am not blindly stupid about his past, but do have faith in him that he won't do it again as we do have a good marriage, two great kids, and a good life together (and still a great sex life after 14 years). He has seen friends divorce and knows what it is like and does not ever want to go through it again, and he knows I am serious about making his life a living *ell if he ever did that to me. ---But the OP up there as I said before just needs to keep her eyes peeled. I would not let the letter wreck my marriage but I certainly would not blindly think, no my husband would never do that, foolish to think that way but it is a fine line to walk and you need to protect yourself but not let it wreck the marriage in case it is just a nut job out to cause trouble, like kids mailing them out to one house on each street in their neighborhood, who knows.
