That's nothing! How would you like

the Irish Setters we had... Momma had 3 litters - the first litter was 21 pups (she was given to us and we didn't know she was pregnant) of a husky, german shepard and/or doberman and probably a little beagle mixed in. They were beautiful. Some with blue eyes, especially the one. Looked like a beagle with 2 blue eyes.

The second litter was 19 pups of pure Irish.

We kept one of the pups from the second litter and when momma had her third litter, 2 days later baby had her first litter of 18 pups! We didn't know she was old enough to have a litter.

We didn't want this to happen, but Irish Setters are, at times, too smart. The dogs were kept in the house but they learned how to open the sliding glass door (back then you didn't have to lock doors) and sneak out during the night or during the day while we were working.

We finally put up 8 foot fencing and put everybody outside, but the pups soon learned how to get over the top along with momma and baby. We eventually found homes for everyone of them and they all lived to ripe old ages.

We were pretty young back and didn't know a lot about dogs then, but the moral of my story is: Always spade or neuter your pets!
