Thank you - belated card and flowers to you :-) sm

I can't figure out why some people get treated well and others don't. I think maybe those of us who take care of others a lot are just taken for granted...I just don't know what it is. Thank you for caring!

Happy belated - you are entering
a phase of your life where most of your efforts can be concentrated on you - your dreams, your desires, your goals. Our teens are mostly spent trying to make our parents happy (at least superficially so we do not get in trouble), our 20s are on the early steps of a career path or beginning families and attending to the needs of bosses, spouses, children. By the time most of us hit our 40s, our kids are grown enough to not need (or want!) us 24/7, our careers are whatever they are.... now is the time we can focus on what we want to do with the rest of our lives. What do we want to be as people? It's a great time to reassess and change paths.
Happy Belated Birthday
It sounds like you had a great evening.

Credit Card Reform Can Cost Good Card Users
Part of article:
Credit cards have long been a very good deal for people who pay their bills on time and in full. Even as card companies imposed punitive fees and penalties on those late with their payments, the best customers racked up cash-back rewards, frequent-flier miles and other perks in recent years.
Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit.
We pay off our balance every month. If they do this (punish those who have sterling credit) Ridiculous!! I'll stop using my CC and pay by cash or check.
So much for reform.
IMO a card would not be out of order at all. Except a sympathy card, of course.
I totally agree a sympathy card wouldn't quite be the thing, but it sounded to me that the original poster of that idea didn't mean a sympathy card like one for death. I think sympathy in the sense of "hey, you had a rough time of it with this birth, and maybe things haven't been the way you imagined, but know that I'm thinking of you and I'm here if and when you need me."
I got PPD when my breastfeeding relationship didn't go right, following a birth plan that went seriously awry, and the reality of a fussy, picky baby instead of the happy, sleeping one that I had imagined.
I *did* spend a lot of time on the phone, but then everybody's different. I would have loved to get a cheerful card from a friend, however. Does anybody NOT like a card?
Flowers
I've had several close people die and frankly everyone bringing food is a good thought but we had to go to shelters to get rid of a lot of it.
Flowers for you!
Hi Hayseed!
I don't have your email address anymore, so I will send you to see flowers I chose for you! Have a great day! Hope this works.
Thank you for all your help in the past. I really appreciated it!

Oh you're killin' me with those flowers!
Man, it's gonna be weeks before we even see a hint of green, as first we have to go through "mud season" up here. April showers usually follow March's snow melt and boy oh boy is it a mess! I do think my pussy willows are about to come into bud and that's always a treat :) Usually it starts really greening up in May, but no one dares go outside to confirm it because of the friggin' black flies!
Ah, gotta love New England!
I planted flowers! Too bad we were supposed
to be buying grass seed. We completely forgot the grass seed, and bought impatiens and flowering ground covers and tall blue flowering plants and some purple accent plants. Got some dirt too, and got on the road and said GRASS SEED?!!
I got the impatiens in, moved a dwarf hydranga that has never flowerered where it it is, and a put in a few other flowers and it started sprinkling and getting dark, so I had to come inside.
It was fun playing in the dirt again. But it's grass we need to make our yard look better. It's just not as fun as FLOWERS! http://forum.mtstars.com/smileys/cutelaugh.gif
I have no clue as to what type the flowers are
just know they are a beautiful shade of purple, hopefully still are. I just brought some English ivy back from his home and plan on planting that in something containable because would not put outside to run. Also, get this, I will have flowers galore when I finish. I am going to get some of his purple iris when they lose their bloom (which is July or the next 2 months) but I have places to put those out at my home. Just wish I could bring 1 of his big ole magnolia trees home. By the way south Georgia but do not know my zone- have seen on a planting map before but just not sure right now. My hydrangea, by the way, has bloomed big at the bottom of the plant but last years limbs are just dead- is this what they normally do? I really babied this plant, put covers over it when had some early frost so have really tried with it.
Do you mean cut flowers to bring inside,
or do you want an inside plant that blooms?
I am an outside gardener myself. If it's outside flowers you are interested, where do you live or what is your zone?
Late summer flowers
Maine is probably in the same zone as Siberia, so these may not work for you in Indiana.
My garden is now finally in full bloom, though we have not had the heat like the rest of the country and every day starts with fog. It is a very pleasant 75 degrees here right now and sunny.
Perennials currently blooming: Tall phlox, Rose of Sharon, butterfly bush, day lilies, yellow roses. Asters are loaded with buds. I put my indoor plants out for the summer and my Christmas cactus is huge and in full bloom!
Annuals: Geraniums, pansies (they came back full force after 'resting' in late June/July), inpatients, cosmos, trailing licorice, sunflowers, petunias, Helio double-pinks, phlox.
I don't allow my husband to buy overpriced flowers...sm
that day. When we were engaged he made the mistake of ordering flowers and we'll just say it turned into quite an ordeal that before it was over with I ended up with 13 dozen roses and couldn't get them to stop sending them every day or 2 (he ordered 1 small arrangement without roses and it went crazy from there!).
We'll probably just grill some steaks and swap out small gifts, nothing extravagant.
IGood smelling plants/flowers?
I love nice smell! I have loads of green plants in my home but would like to have ideas of something I can have on a regular basis inside that gives off a nice fragance. I do not have a clue as to what to buy and I would really like to know of something that would not require too much care. I can do the plants but do not have much of a green thumb. Thanks!

delivered from the local florist to my house. It was sweet.
The problem is that these drapes have pastelly pattern of flowers - sm
which I think is a beautiful pattern and at the time I had them made I figured she would not outgrow the pattern, but apparently she has. Now I have these really expensive drapes that I don't want to give up, but she is upset because she does not want them anymore. I thought if I could "paint" them or dye them with some other pattern, we could keep them and she and I would both be happy....[sigh]
Anyone have any ideas on how to clean artificial plants, flowers?
I do have the real things in my home but in the bedroom I have several plants and/or flowers that really need a good dusting. I do not think I should put them under water. I would rather have the real plants all over the house but have to be careful of some because of my furkids. Thanks!
Might be able to use fabric paint on some of the flowers and find a funky trim/border at a

gas card
I always go with cash, but if you don't like that maybe a gift card to the local gas station. Ours has this in any denomination you choose.
Credit card (SM)
There was information about credit cards and interest rates going around late last year/early this year. Basically, from what I understand with the new bankruptcy law this was attached to it. The credit card companies can and will charge you and me whatever interest rate they want to, and the only thing we can do is cancel the card and pay off the balance. There were these little inserts with your statements that many of us just throw away and never think about it. But I did read the ones that were sent with several of my statements, and I kindly told them to keep my rate where it was and I canceled the card. Sad but true.
Gift Card
Just a note. I learned from my daughter and my neices that the VISA gift cards are the prefered gift card. They can be used anywhere salons, stores, and even gas stations which for a 16-yo can be a lifesaver.
About my credit card
I owed close to $10,000.00 about 2 months ago on my credit card and called to make sure I sent the right amount as paying it off. After I paid in full, they also sent a "finance charge" for around 35 to 40 dollars. I paid that but have discontinued using that card. I have another card, used during Christmas, interest about half of the other one and getting that paid off before long also, just sent $500.00 towards that yesterday. I on the first had asked for payoff amount but the finance not there when I asked.
I think a card or something simple would be
appropriate. It is the thought that counts. I'm not talking a diamond ring or something! He just doesn't make much of any holidays. Yes, my kids are very young so they cannot do much themselves. One time he did take the kids for part of the day and let me relax.
Anyone Want a Calling Card?
I just bought a calling card for work and it screws up the dictation too bad. Would anyone like it for personal use? I can e-mail the number and PIN to you. No charge, just don't want it to go to waste, and we have a cell phone for LD.
When it says no gifts, I always take a card. nm
!
yes, I got a Kohl's card
I love to shop at Kohl's. Will be heading there Saturday, after my son does something with my hair - can hardly wait!!!
not a sympathy card...
Just a congrats on your new baby and friendship, etc... No, sympathy on behalf of the baby would be totally out of order. The baby is fine except for a common foot deformity. It is correctable. No she needs a pick me up card. Something to brighten her day.
all of them that I can because my debit card

credit card
I've not had personal experience, but I know to be wary of some of those companies that advertise. I saw a financial advisor on the Today Show and she said to make sure you go with Consumer Credit Counseling; maybe there's a link on the Today Show website. Good luck!
Pay off our credit card
And with the little we'd have left just put it in the bank
Maybe not a gift card
but a gift certificate to a groomer might be nice!
I've never used an air card, but
I hear they are just as fast. I don't know anything about them, really, sorry
Questions about your card-
Have you paid on time every time and have you paid the amount due? I have credit cards and mine have not gone up- in fact if they did I would call, tell them what an excellent customer I have been and then ask for a reduction in the credit rate. Have done before and they did this for me.
Used my debit card for everything - sm
but spent too much, about $800 in all. Got overcharged on my gift cards, bought 2 at $50, but got charged for 5.....just got my money back from the offending store on that one, which was quite a fight. They would not even listen to me, filed papers with the bank and sent the company a nasty detailed email to their complaint department, which believe it or not did the trick. My bank did not have to do anything in the end, just kept me informed on what the store was doing, took a week to get it resolved, but got my $164.85 back.
My husband and I have one card
that we pay off every month. I am so sick and tired of being punished for being responsible when irresponsible people are constantly getting "taken care of." We should be rewarding responsible people....not the other way around. This is ridiculous and frankly....it p!sses me off.
credit card debt
Not sure what will happen, but I do wish you luck. Credit card debt is an unsecured type of debt. I don't know what more they can do to you other than a judgement. Not sure you can put that under a bankruptcy either once the judgement has been placed. I know a lawyer that handles a lot of bankruptcies -- did some work for him. He always asked his clients if late payments had gone to judgements. If they had not gone that far he was pleased about it. I guess it made things easier legally. Not really sure.

I use my credit card!!!! Priceless!
Actually it was an expired one. Hubby laughed. I use Dawn Power Disolver in the blue bottle. Works wonders. Then IF I have to scrape I have used the credit card of course, but fine metal spatula or a razor, but I use one of those like you scrape paint with that has the handle like an ice scraper.
I LOVE the gas card idea...nm

I got a card at Christmas that I did not open
and put in a drawer- so no not everyone wants a card. The poster needs to mind her business and cool it. I would be totally put off by a popping in to see me, taking a dinner over for me, etc. etc. I think the mother said new mother does not WANT to be bothered. What is so hard to understand about that? Lots of people are worn out after giving birth and want time to recuperate. The poster made to do about her friend not accepting calls while hubby home and she does, and so? The new mother in her own home makes her own rules and the rule she has for right now is not seeing any people or talking on the phone, her wishes.
I think a card is a good idea to let her know you are there for her when she is
good and ready. Those cards did help me.
I wanted to tell you that my PPD was so severe I ended up overdosing and spending 2 weeks in the hospital due to severe depression. It is a serious disease.

My husband has a CitiBank card - sm
They call 4-5 times every day and are demanding that he make payments AHEAD. They want him to pay through March 2009. What the heck is that about? They will not stop calling and he has made his monthly payments so why are they demaning that he pay ahead now?
Did anyone's credit card payment any go up
seems chase is changing policies on their credit card holders. charging 10 service fees if you want to keep your promotional rate. also doubling minimum payments. Didn't they have financial problems in 2008?
The credit card companies are going
to be do everything they can get away with in the next year because of the new rules that will go into effect in 2010. Keep an eye on your interest rates. I have a couple that went up for no apparent reason. I called them immediately. One company lowered my interest rate below what it had previously been. The other did not, and I paid it off and did not use it for a while. They sent me a notice a recently that my credit limit had been increased and the rate had been reduced (back to what it had been previously, of course).
The link below has a synopsis of the new rules that will take effect next year.
Nope. Usually, we use the credit card...
just because it keeps my husband and myself from seeing how much was spent and where until after Christmas (we both frequently check the bank account online). This year, though, the one positive thing about my husband being in Iraq is that I did not go crazy with Christmas like I usually do and I explained to all the extended family that I was not buying much for anyone except my son. Thus, no debt this year, although we always pay it off fairly quickly. I think the highest my credit card has ever been is $700.
I always give handmade card. Also, SM
a romantic evening is in order. If you have small children, can they stay at relatives home for the evening? It falls on a Saturday, so might work.
Make it real romantic. Details of which I would be too fearful to relate here. Show him how special he is to you.
Why would you send in an RSVP card
for dinner. The answer I would give is NO. I got an invitation to a cousin's wedding, someone I never heard from, her mother (paternal aunt), never heard from her either and I laughed and threw the invite in the garbage. Why would you even think you had to go or even respond?
