Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It really helps to talk about this. Thank you for listening. I know age really has nothing to do with it, but I'm trying to stay positive. My grandparents on my Mom's side were both young, 42 and 62 and passed due to heart problems, diabetes. Her brother (my uncle) was physically active and somehow developed masses of blood clots around age 40. He has a Greenfield filter, and the doctors say it's a miracle he is still alive.
After a car accident last year in which someone totaled my car by making a wrong left turn, I went for some routine tests, MRI, etc. due to numbness I was having. I am only 30 now, and they discovered white matter changes on my brain MRI. I was completely shocked as whenever I type about white matter changes, it is usually on MRIs of people in their 80s. I am of average weight, no known problems before this. They did a complete neurological workup including MRI of brain and spine, spinal tap, EMG, SSEP, etc. and still no cause has been found. I am vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficient somehow (My neurologist so far is saying it could be diet-related, but I eat a variety of food and meat, so I am not convinced that this is the cause.). I was so worried when I heard that I could possibly have MS as I have 3 small children, twin boys 19 months and a 4-year-old daughter and my niece. It is just so beyond scary when things like this happen. I think the worst part of it is not knowing the cause. I'm hoping what my Mom has is just something little that will go away on its own.
