I swim recreationally - my DD is on the swim team (sm)
She is 7, so it is fun to race her in the different strokes. Sadly, the only one I can really beat her regularly is backstroke. Our whole family loves the water.
I wear contacts and cannot see a thing without them, so I either keep them in and wear goggles or take them out and wear prescription goggles. Good thing I don't really care if I look goofy!!
on adult swim
I've seen it.....What about The Boondocks or South Park? I have too have a sick and twisted sense of humor.....
swim class
Hi trose,
Thank you for being so thoughtful and asking about swim class....Many responded, gave some great ideas, shared personal experiences and were still concerned about the outcome.
swim party...sm
Make sure you're dressed to dive in and rescue...(The lifeguard was busy chatting up a young lady and I got in before he did)....One of the kids told a fib and said he could swim, jumped in the deep end of the pool. This happened way back/years ago at my son's pool party in February.
It would also be good if at least a couple of the parents stay there to help you...not just stop, drop and roll and leave you all alone with 30+ kids. Safety first around water!
Credentials? I'm a seahag, grew up swimming in the ocean and my sons could swim like dolphins by the age of 2. Cat
Anyone ever buy swim wear online?
I'm having a heck of a time finding a bathing suit anywhere locally (Wisconsin). The only place I see them are online, and I'm a bit hesitant about purchasing because it's a hassle returning, etc. Any suggestions? Goin' on a cruise in December. Thanks for your suggestions.
It is hot upstate, definitely swim weather, sm
You tend to have cooler temps over there. Upstate and across the river, much warmer.
For undertow, swim perpendicular
to the current. The "rip current" is very narrow, but can push a person out quite far, so swimming parallel to the force will get you out of it quickly. We just got back from the beach where there is an inlet. I like to ride the flow out where it's shallow for a long way there.
I swim for fun a lot - and I wear contacts - sm
I keep them in and so far haven't lost any but don't open my eyes under water unless I wear goggles :-)
Just let them swim, do water balloons, etc. if it's nice out. Just have
s
? for not happy about daughter in swim class sm
I was just wondering how things turned out? Hope you got good results.
Not allowed to swim at Disney "beaches" though
They have little man-made beaches at some of the resorts, but you are not allowed to swim in the water. Stayed at several places at Disney... Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Caribbean Beach, Coronado, Dixie Landings, Dolphin/Swan... and it's the same at all. You can play in the sand, but you have to use the pools.
Sure - I always swim in high heels! Gives you the edge in water polo. nm
