I would call for a conference with the
principal and tell him/her exactly what the teacher told you. It sounds uncalled for and who is she to tell you what your daughter should do or not do at home!!!!!!
Spitzer
He was not a very popular governor, especially since he wanted to provide illegal immigrants with drivers licenses but that's another story. The sad thing is this type of behavior is nothing new - let's not forget Clinton and Monica Lewinsky for example! Yuck. How can men be so stupid. I feel sorry for his 3 daughters most of all.
NY Governor Spitzer
Another sleazy slime bag politician gets caught here in NY State by an FBI wire tap. $5500 an hour for a call girl ???? I can't even wrap my mind around this. I feel sorry for his 3 daughters. It's just disgusting.
French Press..
I have never personally had one, but a physician I worked for did and he would grind his own beans every morning and make his own coffee in it, rather than just the regular stuff we drank. I believe I tasted it once and it was very good, stronger than the regular coffee but of course that may depend on the type of beans you grind, etc. He was a coffee-fanitic!
french press
Love mine! I started with a glass one but then found a thermal one which will keep the coffee hot longer.
I have an HP, but and I sort of have to press
out, but I've got it down now.  I think I know what you are talking about, but it just sort of pops out, once you press down on it.  Then you have to set the new one in there and click it in by pushing it towards the back.  I hope this makes sense.  Also, I try to say nice things to my printer, so it will act right.  This always worked for faulty copiers and fax machines when I worked on-site.  People think I'm weird, can you tell?
Call the Press!
Does your town have a/several TV stations that "investigate" these kinds of scams? TV stations love this kind of stuff, would expose the store in public. (Years ago I did some freelance transcription for an attorney who served as "city attorney," saw her on TV all the time when they showed tapings of the common council meetings here in town. Upon completion of the project I did for her she said she couldn't pay me, that it would take her a few months--or something stupid like that before she'd have the funds. (And, her husband was the city engineer! Never doubted her ability to pay). After two or three weeks of calling her looking for the money I finally sent her a certified letter, a very persuasive note letting her know that maybe the mayor might like to know how she treats her "hired help." She sent the check to me within 2 days of her receipt of the letter.) Moral of the story: Find some bigger weight to throw around. Best of luck to you. (PS: What about the state attorney general--fraud, etc., maybe you're not the only one they've done this to, put together a class action suit. That's a hornet's nest and takes forever though. Then the darned company declares bankrupty. But it's poetic justice even though you didn't recoup your money. They have to quit being crooks.)
why did they opt to press charges?

Lighthearted Press
This is from the website of Christine Davis, who wrote For Every Dog an Angel, one of the things that helped me through the desolate time after I lost my beloved girldog, Noni.

There may be some ideas about how to talk to your mom in here.

It has been 2 years, I have 2 new dogs who are wonderful, but still. Not a day goes by.
And don't forget to press 1 for English - or is it 2?
nm
Sure, like he'd press charges for assault
Doubt it very seriously. Besides, it'd be worth a night in jail to slug a slimeball like that...
Has anyone used a French press coffee maker? sm
if so, did you like it or dislike it?  Thanks!
Here is the news from Associated Press on Swayze...Yes, he has cancer, but doing well. sm
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Patrick Swayze's doctor is "optimistic" about his prognosis for battling pancreatic cancer, and the "Dirty Dancing" actor's upcoming cable pilot is still in contention to become a series.

With the writer's strike over, the A&E pilot "The Beast," starring Swayze as an unorthodox FBI agent, is being considered to be turned into a series by the cable network. If that happens, the "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" star hopes to continue to be part of the show, his representative Annett Wolf told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Swayze has been undergoing treatment for the disease, Wolf confirmed in a statement. The National Cancer Institute estimates there will be 37,680 new cases of pancreatic cancer in 2008 with 34,290 deaths in the U.S.; only five percent of patients live more than five years after being diagnosed.

"Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," Swayze's physician Dr. George Fisher said in a statement released by Wolf. "All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."

Wolf said Swayze, 55, shot "The Beast" pilot last December and isn't currently working on any new projects. A&E issued a statement Wednesday stating "The Beast" was still in contention to become one of the network's new original drama series and wished Swayze a speedy recovery.

and he sounded so scripted in the press release
not like it was coming from his heart at all. Am sad for his family. I sure would not have been the adoring wife, on stage with him. She ought to have him ducking and dodging. To whom much is given, much is expected, but he certainly has fallen short. No integrity. Maybe when he hits bottom, he'll look 'up'.
