Special recipe for frosting?

I need help with finding a recipe for frosting.  Years ago, I ate some wonderful cookies that had a frosting that was hard on the outside but soft on the inside.  I tried and tried to get the recipe but to no avail.  Can anyone help?

I think I would like your frosting better..
one of my sil's makes this, but she uses an already made chocolate frosting & the frosting is just tooooo sweet for me, maybe this would be better, I have even thought about leaving it off.. lol which kinda defeats the purpose
Is it a white frosting? could this be it?

I don't know if this is crunchy, but it does get sort of a crust on the outside after awhile.  If this isn't it, maybe some more info?
FLUFFY BOILED FROSTING
1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup water
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
3 egg whites
Pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

In a heavy saucepan combine sugar, water and cream of tartar. Slowly bring mixture to a boil, stirring sides of the saucepan with a brush dipped in water to remove any sugar crystals. Cover and boil for about 3 minutes or until a candy thermometer registers 245 degrees.

Beat egg whites with pinch of salt until glossy and peaked. Slowly pour in syrup as you continue to beat the whites. Beat until cool and frosting is soft and fluffy. Fold in vanilla

Cookie frosting
When I read your post I thought of the black and white cookies, the frosting you described is very much that consistency, IMO. Here is a link to that recipe. You may want to make a few of these too. Yum..

Funny you mention the frosting
make this frosting as directed and be sure to use the corn syrup - it tastes like a melted candy bar. When I serve this people always comment on the frosting.
Frosting fudge from a few days ago is awesome sm

I made 4 different kinds, and they all turned out incredibly good. Here's the combos I used -

Caramel frosting (which I think is something new) + butterscotch chips + half a bag of Heath toffee pieces

Regular chocolate frosting + Hershey's Special Dark chocolate chips + 1 cup chopped walnuts

Milk chocolate frosting + Andes mint chocolate pieces

Coconut pecan frosting + milk chocolate chips

All of them are made the same - microwave the frosting in a bowl for about 90 seconds. It will be bubbly. Stir in chips & nuts/toffee/etc. Pour into lightly greased 8x8 pan. Cool, cut, & eat.

The coconut pecan one tastes like German chocolate candy, and the caramel/butterscotch/toffee one was the biggest hit of the party last night.

when i first read that i thought wow that's eating frosting and chips
but then i thought about the fudge i make - milk, p-nut butter, & marshmallow cream and it's probably just as bad, loaded up with the calories. Once i was going to count up the calories in an 8 x 8 pan but never did. It's at least 2,000, and it really doesn't make a whole lot volume-wise.
I think probably they did not have as much to put on special -
I bet that people are just not buying as much and they are having to mark it down before it ruins.

I don't think they ever threw it out - they just were able to sell it before it got old.
No, there is nothing really special about
Danny's voice and Danny in general. Very common. I have already forgotten his voice, I remember only his rock shrieks......
What brought him that far was only compassion for the death of his wife or girlfriend........
Well, isn't that just so SPECIAL.

20/20 had a special on E-Bay the other night,
warning about scam sellers - it was actually a repeat though they touted the show as new. On the test buys they ran, all the sellers who scammed them in one way or another had 98% or above feedback. The feedback means nothing, really, as there are lots of ways to remove it - i.e. paying for it to be removed, and also lots of feedback blackmail, where most buyers are too wimpy to leave a negative, as it means they will get one, too. So the feedback system is not valid at all.
I remember a 20/20 special about this...sm
I remember seeing something about this on 20/20 a couple of years back and just remember it's not always the best way to go. Doctors recommend it too fast without looking into other ways. There were women on 20/20 that wished they didn't have it done, can't remember all the reasons. Do tons of research before doing it. Good luck!
I do know a special needs trust will not

I remember seeing a special on these
odd animals many, many years ago. I was probably about 18. I found them quite upsetting, LOL. I have only seen anything about them one time since, and my impression the second time was that they were very small, like mice, instead of the larger rat-like creatures I was picturing the first time.
There are special chews that have
enzymes in them. They are sold along with the toothbrushes and toothpaste at the pet stores. You are using doggy toothpaste when you try to brush them, I assume. Even if you only get a few swipes of that enzyme paste on the teeth and feel like you aren't doing any good, it actually does make a difference, judging by the comments my vet made about my Misha's teeth. We did do it from a young age, but not often, and she would only tolerate a little bit. But she had great teeth for her age.

Another good way to keep plaque down is to use true raw bones and let them gnaw on those. They work pretty well also.

But I do see the most benefit from any attempt at brushing, and also of course when I've gotten them cleaned under anesthesia if they needed something else done.
There is something special about wintertime.

It's hard work getting things prepped for this weather...but when you come inside in at the end of a day--it's a good tired, a satisfied-feeling kinda tired.

Of course that specialness lasts about 48 hours (or at the first slip and fall on the ice) and then it is so not fun anymore!  Anyone down south wanna swap joints, er residences, with me for a few months or so during the winter, you know where to find me!

Me too! I feel so special! (nm)

Thanks - they are running a special
It's for 11 pieces including brushes, video, etc. I'm starting a new job in a couple weeks and if I don't get it by then I'll check out WalMart.  Thanks for the tip.
There is a special place for them
The worst crimes committed are abuse to children and to animals. In the bible it does state that hurting or maiming an innocent animal is one of the worst sins, the first being abuse to children. These are innocent creatures who are here to help us and give us comfort and love. They never ask for anything, are always there for us and never complain. It sickens me to my stomach to hear of abuse to animals. When I was younger I had a dalmatian pup. He was outside one day, fenced in, and got out through a small place in the fence. Someone in our neighborhood saw him, hit him with their car, and left him to die. I was heartbroken and it took me a long time to get over it. I would not like to be the person that will have to stand before God in judgment when it comes it comes to abusing these blessed animals. Only a coward and a bully would commit such an act.
We did not do parties except on special
occasion birthdays, normally just took the kids to see their grandparents as they did want to see them on their birthday. However, it is your tradition and if your in-laws do not want to participate leave it up to them. Invite them and they can choose what to do. Don't change your traditions because they don't "approve."
There's a special collar
I bought mine at Petsmart or Petco. It has spikes on it that grip into the dog's neck. Sounds painful, but it WORKS. And my dog has never yelped, not even once, so I don't think it actually is painful (my dog is a yelper at the slightest amount of discomfort, like trying to wash out his ears).

Anyway, look in the collar aisle at Petco or Petsmart for it. It's around $10-15 and it will make your walks peaceful!

Anyone ever been trustee of a Special Needs Trust?

I've been the trustee of my older sister now since 2001 when our mother died.  She is mentally retarded because she fried her brain on LSD and mescalin when she was a teenager, also is bipolar and on SSDI.

She just called me to say she is on the edge of losing all of her benefits, including her state-funded housing, because her love toy went and blabbed to the housing authority that she was getting this "extra" money and it's a huge amount.  Well, it's not a huge amount by any means, not even $40,000 to last her lifetime.  I'm sure she and her benefits are protected via the whole category of "Special Needs Trust" but to say my blood pressure is up is an understatement of the decade.

I just want to drive 8 hours to smack the sh*t out of her and her G-spot Johnny (did I mention she's also hypersexual?!) boy toy.  Now, I'm not a violent person, but the attorney told me that the government could also come after me if they feel there has been any sort of fraud here.  I'm not the one that did drugs, yet for some reason this responsibility was tossed in my lap.  Hmmm...could be that whole atheist thing and this is mom's retribution.

So, anyone know anything about Special Needs Trusts I should be particularly concerned about?

Oprah just had a special on the other woman....
and found it very interesting to hear from these women who had affairs with married men. Only one of the 4 women was still with a married man, while the others ended it. The psychologist on there asked her what was it in her childhood that brought her to this point in her life to feel like she didn't deserve better. You deserve better. Your child deserves better. His wife deserves better. They also said how the men tell you what you need to hear...they know what you need to hear, so he's not real. He could also be saying the same things to another woman at the same time, or maybe not, you never know. Please don't feel sad...get out now and meet the man of your dreams. He's out there waiting for you, but you're not available to him yet. You deserve more. Your child deserves more.
Has anyone bought the special toothbrushes...

Okay, way off the wall and out there.  Have any of you bought the fancy toothbrushes they try to sell you at the dentist's office?  Mine in particular is pushing Rota-dent.  I REALLY want the results, etc., but $120.00?  Is it really any different than the electric spin brush you get off the drugstore shelf?

I'm going in tomorrow to start some extensive and expensive dental work, and I want to take the best care I can, but again, is it worth $120.00 or should I just stop by Walmart on my way home?

They look pretty, I wear them, if I am going somewhere special.
To make them look real, I stole an idea from Marilyn Monroe. I cut the lashes in half and then I use the resulting minilashes and put them starting from mideye to the edge of my eye nearest the ear. Be careful just to put a little glue. Then, you can put eye liner over it. I have very blonde (almost platinum) hair and eyebrows, so it can't be heavy handed. Also if you use the half lashes, you can put a light color like cream under your eye brow arch and on the lid, with a bit of brown in the crease. Blend it together and it will look glamorous yet natural. Only you will know, because it looks like a lot of mascara on the edge, or you are blessed with long eyelashes! Have fun with it. I do.
Your cabin sounds so special
I love where I live because I do have animals around. Some deer were standing close by my home when I started out the other morning, a bunny ran across the road the other evening and I told my husband my home is magical. Coming home the other night I could have sworn the moon was sitting right behind my home so big and bright. I have loads of birds and squirrels and I feed those.
It's always crowded but more so on special shopping days. nm

Same here, only animals and special needs orphan children.

my DIL and grandson are in flight from Hawaii to LAX to be with her mother, his grandmother in the last few days of her life. Her name is Pat. She lives in Placentia. She is in the hospital right now but wants to come home when they get here.  My son also in HI, scheduled to leave within 10-12 days to Iraq but he is having some medical issues. Please pray they will not be of a serious nature. Please pray, he is thinking his men will think he is faking this.  It is just all the stress he is under....Thank you in advance

Now wait a sec - the woman did NOT ask anyone for special favors - sm
There's not a single thing in the original posting asking us to pity her or that she was suing anyone. Nothing. SHe's not asking for your judgment or your forgiveness either. I'm just saying your tone is all holier than thou. Obviously you've never struggled with fat or any other addiction; I have and I didn't ask for anything from anyone else either. You're just self righteous is all I'm saying.

My husband built special houses outdoors for
our cats. We have strays, which we have collected over the years. He built a couple small houses that look like doghouses. He installed infrared heat bulbs inside each house -the kind you can buy at a pet store to keep reptiles warm. He bought guards that go around the bulbs so that the animals don't actually touch the bulbs, which I think you can get at a Lowe's or Home Depot. It may sound complicated, but it did not take him long at all. We have used these houses for years and the cats love them. I can look out my back window on a cold day to see 6 cats(3 in each house)keeping warm in those houses. A girl I work with liked them so much she had him make one for her cats. Gee, maybe we should start a business!
I remember mine and he certainly holds no special place
I could probably use every horrible word for him. I was just another "trophy" for him to brag to his friends about. We parted on horrible terms and when we'd see each other in public we'd be screaming horrible things at each other for everyone to hear. Gosh and it's been almost 30 years (yes I was very immature but still no reason for him to treat me the way he did). It was my first time and he told all our friends I gave him some terrible sexual disease (of which I didn't even know what that was back then). I just say good riddens to him.
I am a CASA (court appointed special advocate) and I personally see nothing (sm)
wrong with mothers working at home while their children are there. For goodness sake, the mother can get up and check on them, the children can come to mommy with a problem. They are not unattended. If I were investigating a case as a possible neglect situation where the children were at home with mom working I would have to laugh.

I have seen many more neglectful moms who were doing nothing, I mean nothing except talking on the phone, watching soaps, napping, engaging in all sorts of sexual behaviors, using drugs or alcohol, etc. These parents are by far the more neglectful and causing more harm to their children.

The children of MTs are observing mom multi-task and yet they still have the advantage of having her there to break up an argument, put on a bandaid, etc.

With all the horror stories of day care anymore how can you even suggest they are harming their children.

the length is about 80 minutes long, per the client, no special format.

Recipe

I love this and you can use a variety of types of yogurts/berries.

Frozen Yogurt

An 8-ounce container of yogurt (I uses Dannon Light)

An 8-ounce container of cool whip (Lite or Low-Fat)

A package of berries (no sugar added).

Mix all together and freeze in a pie plate or cake pan. I mostly use strawberries and strawberry yogurt, and now they even have strawberry cool whip, but not lite or fat-free.

For other company, I sometimes add in some Splenda to sweeten the berries, or put in a graham cracker crust.

You could also make sugar free chocolate pudding, and mix in cool whip.  Stir together and put in parfait cups with a shot of Reddi Whip on top.  This is always a fun treat.

Sorry it is late in coming but, hopefully, you can use in the future as well.

SIL's recipe....
It sounds like your SIL is just the ticket!!!!

I've seen other recipes that are quite similar, and people have raved no end. But, in these recipes the meat cooks for a much, much, much shorter length of time.

I'm sure they're just as wonderful as the cooks and their dinner guests swear, but I've been rather stuck and quite stubborn on "my" recipe.

So, tell your SIL: Help!...Dinner is this weekend and my co-host and I were hoping to go shopping today, tomorrow at the verylatest.

Why I'm stuck on this one, I don't know, but Lord how I remember that taste, that smell!

Thanks so much!

Does anyone have an easy recipe for a yummy, ooey, gooey cream cheese pastry that they'd like to share?  Thanks!!
no recipe but
Try going to allrecipes.com and see if you can find one there for that! Do you want hamburger beef or real like beefsteak? Just buy some refried beans in a can, some tortillas, fry up some burger and add some burrito seasoning or salsa and wrap them up! Add a bit of sour cream and black olives, the works on top..oh I'm getting hungry now!
Bonappetite!
recipe help
Anyone have a good easy recipe for cornbread dressing?  My mom has always made it, but I 'm making everything this year and want to use something other than hers to surprise her!
My BBQ recipe...sm

I brown 1 lb hamburger with a couple of tablespoons of green pepper and onion. Then add 3/4 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 3 drops of liquid smoke. Simmer covered for about 20 minutes on low. You can add a little water if it gets too thick. If you don't like it to be sweet, cut down on the brown sugar. Sometimes I use left over roast instead of the hamburger.

Another recipe
I use 1 small can of tomatoes, whole or chopped but without seasoning, 1/2 green bell pepper, 1/4 onion, 2 cloves of garlic (or powder in a pinch), 1 packet of salsa seasoning mix from the grocery store (I haven't found one that I don't like), and if I have it I add a little lime juice (about 1 tablespoon of juice) and a tablespoon of dried cilantro. Add hot sauce or jalepenos if you like. You can chop it as chunky or smooth as you like using food processor or blender. We like it fairly smooth.

I keep the chopped onions and bell peppers in the freezer so I always have them and the seasoning mixes go on sale a couple times a year at the grocery store (3/$1) and I stock up on those. This is always what I am asked to bring to parties and gatherings. For some reason even kids who don't like salsa like it - haven't found a kid yet who doesn't like it. It's great because I can keep everything on hand and it takes about 5 minutes to make.
There is a recipe
on the side of the Hershey's Cocoa container. It is simple and a great recipe! I'm sure you could add your own chocolate chips, chunks, or shavings to make it extra special. Maybe even some Andees mint shavings to make it peppermint, yum!
Recipe for you!
