Siberian huskies have a life expectancy of 12-15 years.
One of my Siberians did die of a brain tumor recently at age 7. I do use Frontline here in NC. I am more suspicious of chemicals to treat lawns and gardens, however.
Yellow...
is the warmth you feel on your cheeks as you face the sun on a crisp fall day.
shepherd's pie
Hamburger with spices and can of tomato sauce/soup topped with corn and mashed potatoes.
Yup, all true. He's my 3rd Siberian. (sm)
In fact, they are both looking out my office window at a squirrel right now.
CJ (my new Siberian) story
CJ was playing with a stuffed hedgehog he found at my house. My niece showed him that it squeaked. As she continued to squeak it, he started to cry ... and then softly howl. I had to ask her to stop.
He's 5 years old and looks just like a miniature wolf, but ...
Don't hurt CJ's stuffies.
"Siberian Huskies"
this was a really cute video. Those are really beautiful looking dogs. How long have you had yours? Tell us a little about them. When I was living in Georgia I knew a lady with a Golden Retriever (Buster Brown) and he would try to dig bigger holes in the ground that chipmunks make and put his whole face in it thinking he would catch them. If I ever won the lotto I would purchase a farm and have rescue dogs and give them the life they deserve :)
I love huskies!
But will not have one because I live in Florida and I'm afraid it's too hot for them. :(

Yeah, my huskies have all done the same - sm
thing, nothing is safe from them. Our recent one grabbed the family cat once, luckily we were all there, miscommunication, someone let him in without the gate up, cat happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, dog came in, saw her and lunged. I grabbed him and pried his mouth off the cat (whose body was fully in his mouth as he grabbed her over her back). She escaped (minus several lives) with losing just a tiny tuft of fur, no blood, no cuts. But he doesn't even like small dogs....kids want to get a puppy soon but not sure if that is going to work or not. He has slowed down some now though and is almost 7 so it might work, but would have to be very careful. He is good dog though, big boy at 82 pounds, quite large for a purebred husky (not fat).
definitely Australian Shepherd
they are intelligent, sensitive, kind yet capable of protecting well, very responsive...but they are not for everyone (for their need to be with you a lot, need for exercise, etc)
Do you have a yellow cake mix?
You could do a pineapple upside down cake. Add about 5 tablespoons melted butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar to the pineapple. Spread on the bottom of a well-greased baking dish, pour the cake batter over it. You could even go crazy and add a dash of rum to the pineapple before you bake it.
Huskies are great dogs! I have had 3 so far - sm
They love to dig, run, and jump over or under fences. They also kill every animall smaller than them if given a chance, birds, squirrels, oppossems, etc. We have our backyard fenced in so our dogs can run free. My current husky does not dig or jump (or howl, I miss that) though, but he is hindered by having only 3 legs, but he can run like the wind. My previous husky though would try to dig out on a regular basis, still have plugs all along the fence in spots where she tried to get out to chase deer or squirrels, luckily she never got out though. My Cara was a very picky eater, and our new husky, Slade, used to be too until he came to live with us (he was with my dad before). He has competition in eating now and eats every piece of his dinner now. My other dog (choc. lab) practically inhales her food and we jokingly call her Hoover, though her name is Maggie. When she is in the house we have to make sure everything is put away or she will eat it no matter where it is. Slade is better behaved but will steal food off the coffee table if left there. Huskies are great dogs though! On cold nights he does not come in on the first call though, loves to sit outside in the cold, all curled up with his nose in his bushy tail, with his beautiful blue eyes peeping out watching the yard. Just make sure he gets plenty of exercise and love and he will love you back all the way!
what could be cuter than a siberian husky
A Great Pyrenees, working/herding dog, looks like a polar bear, keeps the coyotes at bay. .
What I love about huskies is they can be filthy - sm
and then you look at them 30 minutes later and they are spotless. Really amazing how they can clean themselves off (or at least mine have always done this). My boy now does not get that dirty but when he does it does not last long.
German Shepherd; I like big dogs nm

Misha, talking about the huskies
My husband had said he always thought he wanted a huskey. About a week ago I told him his dream had come true. At my mailbox stood 2 beautiful huskies, 1 white with gray and 1 white with tan. Animals are not supposed to run loose in my neighborhood so figured someone's dogs, they were beautiful. Took me most of the afternoon and evening to locate their parents - someone had apparently tried to break in while people not home and let the animals out. That was the first time I had petted one and their hair is so plush. What type of work are you doing now besides MTing?
Shepherd's Pie with lots of veggies
It's very filling and you can do wonders with only 1 lb of ground beef if you make this. Add enough veggies to displace some of the meat, whatever you have on hand.
It only takes about 4 potatoes to make enough topping, too.
Our neighbors used the yellow caution tape
and I thought it was a very clever idea. Their house looks great. Myabe depending on the area you live in. We are in a new housing development and they are at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Help me find a yellow rain slicker
I kid you not. My 20 yo son has asked for a yellow rain hat and slicker for Christmas. He's always been a bit... ummm .... eccentric. He has shown me a picture, and it really looks like the Gorton's fisherman.
On the practical side, my son is majoring in meteorology, so I guess this could be useful one day and more than just a strange fashion statement.
So, does anyone know where I can find something like this for a 6' tall, 190-pound young man?
When the gray color is yellow-tinged,
that's when it can look good to use that blueing treatment. If you overdo it you end up with blue or lilac hair, but in the right dose it can effectively take out the yellow and give a more pleasing shade of gray or white.
Tell her to buy you the yellow bulbs, increases productivity. sm
On Good Morning America this morning they said the yellow light bulbs would increase productivity by 30%!

Vote for Hans and benefit Siberian rescue
...Southern Siberian Rescue may win $5,000 in free food from ProPlan. http://www.rallytorescue.com/more_for_pets_voting.aspx Please crosspost and pass this email to any and everyone you know as well!!! I attach a flyer in the event you would like to post at your vets office, your work, local pet stores or anywhere you deem appropriate. :-)
Some of you may remember Hans, the 8 y/o boy we pulled out of Franklin County, NC in August of 2006. He was beat up pretty bad with infected holes in his head and face, teeth hanging horizontally in his mouth, fractured jaw, emaciated, heartworm positive, etc. etc. We did an ebay Auction to raise monies for his medical treatment. Well, Hans was adopted in March to a wonderful couple in Raleigh with a 7 y/o silver and white female Siberian. They just adore him and he is the perfect fit for their family.
We are signed up with ProPlan's Rally to Rescue Program and in February they asked the Ambassadors to submit up to two stories on our rescued pets for their Doing More for Rescued Pets Contest. We submitted Hans' story and they selected him as one of the top 10 finalists. YIPPEE. As a top 10, Southern Siberian Rescue and Hans's adopters win a year of free food for one pet and a 3 day/2 night trip to CA in October for the Rally to Rescue
Ambassador Party, where they will announce the winning pet. They have listed the finalists at http://www.rallytorescue.com/more_for_pets_voting.aspx and voting will go through September 30. Please take a moment and vote for Hans. It only takes a second and costs you nothing. :-) You can submit one vote per email address so if you have multiple email addresses, please vote under each one. The winning pet/rescue will receive $5,000 of free
food and we could really use that food. If you would like to see his transformation pictures you can go to www.southernsiberian.com and his personal website and full story can be seen at http://www.southernsiberian.com/foster_dogs__hans.html.
What a great journey for Hans. It's a true rags to riches story. I can't believe he's a star and going to CA!!!!! He is also a TV star now too as NBC 17 did a story on him June 22. It was a fantastic story. What a great adventure for a boy that had such a rough start.
Thanks.

Whenever our German shepherd wants to go out, she'll grab her leash bring it to you - SM
and if you ignore her, she will start hitting you with it...with the metal clip end!!!
One time our neighbor's kids fed our German shepherd candy corn while she was out on her run.
I was out in the driveway washing our car at the time, and I saw them playing with her, but then saw what they were feeding her. She then came inside and threw up yellow and orange all over our beige carpet. Thankfully we own a really good carpet steam cleaner!
now- white lab, dobe/shepherd, terrier mix, beagle/blue heel, from shelters.
