She will still have that little piece of your heart. I hope you feel peaceful, you did the loving thing.

Rainbow Bridge
If you Google Rainbow Bridge there's a beautiful website on this. Just a warning - it'll probably get you bawling if you're like me!
Another animal crossed Rainbow Bridge today (pic).
This is a picture of Buck. He was a Belgian horse, late teens maybe early 20s, who was found by a friend of mine at a livestock auction with his teammate (another older Belgian) who were both skin and bones, sores on their skin, bad hooves...the whole enchilada of problems that neglect brings. She bought them both for a couple hundred bucks just so they could go to her place and die with a belly full of food. They both made a miraculous recovery, gained weight, and went onto great homes. I was blessed with being able to take Buck on a 3-week trial to see if he would be a good slow riding horse for me (I'm kinda crippled up and that was my therapy).
He was a sweet old fella but his heart was in pulling...either wagons or twitching wood out of the forest, so he moved onto a home that was better suited for him. We kept in touch with his new owners who loved him as much as I did.
Today I got a phone call and was told he just dropped dead, apparently of a heart attack. Sadly, the years of neglect took their toll and his heart just gave out. I'm thankful he was at least surrounded by people who loved him when he needed it the most. Please hug your critters--we never know when they may leave us.
when I roll in the driveway I see my dog sitting there staring out, waiting, waiting, and (sm)
When he sees me he yawns and stretches, then puts on this act of being all bored and sits on his tail so I cannot see it wagging... like he was not eagerly waiting for me the whole time and seeing me is no big deal. Every single time. If I have someone with me I'll say, "watch what Walter does..." and he does this every time. Oh, by the way, don't feel bad for this guy for having to wait for me once in while, he has the life of a king.
Rainbow
I've had several vacuums over the years and now own a Rainbow. Way expensive (I must have lost my mind when I agreed to the purchase) but it truly is the best in my opinion. Doubles as an air purifier too when you're not vacuuming. The only thing I dislike is that you have to empty the water cannister when you're finished, preferably outside.
Rainbow
I had one and would never get another one. A lot of work to set up and like another said, no place for the dirty water. I have a Dyson and love it.
rainbow vacuum
I have the one my brother was going to kick to the curb. LOVE IT! No dust being recirculated! Just remember not to leave the top part on the water-filled base, bad idea.
Does anyone have a Rainbow vacuum and if so ..sm
would you share your likes/dislikes? I am considering buying one but would like unbiased opinions please! Thanks.

I had a Rainbow that my mother gave me when
she moved to a smaller place. I used it until the motor burned out, but like the poster below, they are very cumbersome and not very quick to set up and put away. I have an upright Kirby now and love it. I bought one with the shampooer and all the attachments and it works just as well as the Rainbow. I wouldn't ever think of buying one for myself.
i have a Marilyn (sp?) bridge and it
works great. had a partial for a long time and hated it. had to take it in and out like dentures and was terribly embarrassed. the bridge also didn't cost as much. i've been told that there are drawbacks to bridges though, so might want to ask about that. good luck. i didn't smile for a long time.
Jump off a bridge already.
I find myself wishing that toward all the pedophiles I've been typing about lately. My heart just aches for their victims. I'm so disgusted by what they do, have done, that I just about puke by the end of the notes. As soon as this shift is over, I'm taking a hot shower to help wash away my disgust.
No you cross a bridge to get there - not far enough out (sm)
to warrant a ferry or plane. But it is truly surrounded on all three sides, and you couldn't wade or swim across...lol. It is a port town, and they have a huge shrimp boat festival there every year with all sorts of artsy vendors and such. There is an old saloon there called the Palace Saloon which was supposedly the old hangout for pirates and smugglers who went through the area. Here are a couple of links if you are interested in reading or seeing pics :)

Here's the "Rainbow Bridge" quote (sm)
I personally don't believe in a god or an afterlife, but this little story makes a lot of people feel better when their animal passes, and if that can bring comfort to someone in a time of grief, I'm all for it.
"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

Bay Bridge is closed for repair work all weekend -
so getting in or out of the city will be a total nightmare. I'm just gonna hang out at home and work on Monday, since I need the $$!
On Sunday there's a big (free!) rock concert at the polo field in Golden Gate Park, honoring the 40th anniversary of the 'Summer of Love' in S.F. in 1967. (Gad - was it THAT long ago?) Lots of the original bands will be there. (Sigh....Too bad Jerry Garcia still isn't around to take part....) So, if I can find a parking-place anywhere in the same zip-code, I may cruise on over there and hobnob with all the old hippies. Should be pretty cool.
(PS: I have a young, hippy-ish friend with a totally amazing tattoo of Jerry Garcia on one of her arms! I know SHE'LL be there for sure!)

What are you waiting for?
Just wondering why you are still trying to figure out if you will stay 7 years later?
Have you really discussed it with him? Why, what, how does he really feel now?
You need to feel love and respected and that you can love and respect someone back.
Don't wait until you are 80 and then realize you should have left!
LOL She looks like she is waiting to ...sm

Hi everyone...does anyone know the code to turn off call waiting before making a call? I forget...it's been a while. TIA!
ooooo, waiting again!!

for her to 'come alive' and really dance. I think it probably came back to bite her, since Helio won the whole thing, and deservedly so.
One I was at a restaurant waiting
in line for a bathroo stall. Finally a lady came out of onel and I went inside. There was urine ALL OVER the seat. I was just livid. Okay lady, if you are too scared to sit down to pee because of the germs, then for crying out loud, WIPE UP YOUR PEE so it's not there for some total stranger to have to deal with. Or hold it until you get home.
Gross, gross, gross.
wow, just sitting there waiting to pounce, are you?

Not all schools have a waiting list - sm
where I am the local teaching hospital does not use them at all. So fresh crop each time. I have been thinking about it too. I am 42. I need to do 3 classes first to qualify for the program. It is full-time though 5 straight semesters and I would be done, though would probably go for the more advanced degree once I had the basic one, have to get that one first though. Money is also an issue, guess I would have to hope for a full scholarship as I have no money to go to school, and of course childcare during the summer would be the other issue. Just wish the program was not "accellerated" so I didn't have to do school in the summer. A job is basically guaranteed when done too, though I am sure you don't get to offered 9-5!

Put the pictures in and even looked up relatives on facebook I have lost touch with... so I feel a lot better. I wrote to people I don't see or talk to on the i-net, people like family and friends who the family has lost touch with and I feel great about it! So, it was worth doing!

Update: I am waiting for doc to schedule an abdominal CT for me - sent my husband a message saying
that they will be scheduling me for a CT today or tomorrow. His answer: 10-4, I hope you get your health in order. Exercise please.
I am having abdominal pain, back pain, bleeding, etc. but I guess if I exercise it will fix all that.
I'll buy them ... sm
Of course I am teasing you. I love Longaberger baskets, but I can understand them not being everyone's cup of tea. I am sort of in the same situation with my father-in-law. He gives me the most God-awful stuff. He is retired, has no money, and feels the need to buy me something. This year he gave me an outfit that a 17-year-old girl would have loved. I am 42. I just smile and say thank you. Really, I keep telling my husband I would rather him just keep his money, but I can't hurt his feelings. I would just take the baskets, smile, say thank you, and put them in my attic as an heirloom for my grandchildren or something. They are beautiful and surely someday one of your children or their spouses might like to have them. Just a thought.
i'll take abc any day over any of them....
Thanks! - I'll try anything (sm)

I'll have to try it.
My Avon rep from work quit because she claimed that they would only send her half the order and her customers were getting upset. My mom does Avon through a friend and she has bought me necklesses from Avon when I was little as well. That friend has been doing Avon for 40 years. She is in her mid 80s now and wants to give it up but her son won't let her because that is the only thing that will get her out of bed anymore, so he helps her with it. It is hard to find reps around here because do it for a few weeks then quit.
Thanks, I'll try it! /nm
