From FDA website:
Possible risk of cancer: As noted in the Elidel Cream label and patient Medication Guide, although a link has not been made, rare cases of cancer (for example, skin and lymphoma) have been reported in patients who use Elidel Cream. The manufacturer is conducting studies to examine the risk of cancer. These studies may take many years to complete.

side effects
Does anyone know it the Hoodia causes any side effects or if it affects blood pressure? I have both diabetes and hypertension and have to be careful what I take. Should be extra diligent in what I eat, but if I was I wouldn't be asking about Hoodia, now would I? Am really interested in learning about this. Need to lose a LOT of weight for health reasons, as well as clothes shopping. TIA
Side effects of chemo
You are 100% correct in your post but there are a lot of other ailments that are also treated with drugs that can cause cancer and this is something people are advised against up front. I remember 1 kid in high school treated some an ailment and the side effect of his treatment was that he contracted cancer and died from that. I have known for years the connection between breast cancer and hormone replacement; thus when I came of age to perhaps take it I turned it down. My mother, on the other hand, given hormone replacement and contracted cancer from I believe irradiation 30 years earlier for tuberculosis in her lymph glands and she mentioned to me the fact her doctor still had her on replacement hormones. She, herself, knew the connection. I have 2 older aunts and myself who have never taken this treatment because we all know connection. Believe me, if you check on other maladies, you will find the treatment often can cause the side effects such as cancer of which you speak.
Reading about possible side effects,
I can see why you might feel anxious. Do you usually tolerate medications well, or do you tend to react oddly? Not that that is a big help. I know most meds work great for me, but even low doses of Topamax were bad for me in a sneaky way.
Tough choice. Do they know what is causing your occipital neuralgia? Sorry to hear you have that!
Cipro-side effects
I took Cipro last month for diverticulitis. Now I have EXTREME tendon and muscle pain. Anyone out there ever had this reaction?
These are the possible side effects of SSRIs
On this website they did not mention violence and suicidal thoughts.
Side effects of SSRIs include:
Nausea
Sexual dysfunction, including reduced desire or orgasm difficulties
Dry mouth
Headache
Diarrhea
Nervousness
Rash
Agitation
Restlessness
Increased sweating
Weight gain
Drowsiness
Insomnia
Now you think that these SSRIs made your life 'worth living again?' Do you think that your life is only worth living when being on these antidepressants?
But I am happy for you that you feel better.
Any side effects? Can you take this stuff with caffeine? nm

kids, meds, side effects
I would make sure that he was not having side effects from medication. Seven years is a long time to be on prescriptions and this is the age when most of the boys were taken off medication so they could grow normally through their puberty, as it was stunting growth in some boys that were my son's friends.
Beyond that, 6th grade is the grade when children are picked on the most. If your son has one friend at all, I would try to shore that up.
Any side effects? Odors? Bad breath? Diarrhea? etc. nm
s
Nope, I had no negative side effects whatsoever
nm
you have a valid point here, one has always to consider side effects of meds..nm

Drugs.com: Read on this site about more side effects of Xanax
Other side effects have included withdrawal symptoms following either abrupt cessation or fast tapering of alprazolam. Withdrawal symptoms may include agitation, restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, convulsions, tremor, abdominal cramps, blurred vision, vomiting, and sweating.

When 2 cars ride side by side on the interstate...sm
and block traffic so nobody can pass. I will get irate over this. I don't know where people's brains are.
There's one side, the other side, and the truth
And boy is it true.
I will say you sound like my aunt, who never speaks up, gets walked all over and then cries about it later.
Her kids/grandkids have no idea why she is always depressed, they think nothing of doing whatever they want without regard for her because she hasn't expressed an interest or opinion on anything and they don't know any better.
Yes, they use her. Yes, they could do things for her, but she never asks anything or says anything, so they don't press it, because it's always been that way. And she's a martyr, so it'd upset her pattern if things actually changed.
And the truth (and maybe reconciliation) lies in the middle somewhere.
Sad.
No ill effects here.
Hormonal effects?
You know, I am way past menopause and I (along with 2 of my aunts in their 80s) have never had any symptoms. One aunt had surgical menopause at 20 something, nothing. I know this is not the same with each women but I never went thru menopause and know the ovaries just withered and died. Last year (age 63) my doctor even was amazed at the moistness on the exam. I have no explanation for that except I just don't feel my age at all, except for those aches and pains that have come with some age.
They should be more worried about the effects
especially in a larger state such as California. Smoking is an addiction, but I personally feel that there more of a problem with obesity. People are trying to quit smoking, but are they really trying to quit eating? JMO. What someone does on their own property, whether it be an apartment, townhome, etc., is their own business as long as there are no laws broken.
I have had no ill-effects or complications - sm
from having had 4 epidurals by the way. What was different about it with my second delivery is the doctor must have done a really good job as I could not feel my legs at all, I remember joking with the nurses that they could chop off my leg and I woud not feel it. I could move it just could not feel it. They had to tell me when to push as I was so numb and could not feel the pressure at all. But my daughter came flying out in 7 minutes despite being super numb, no episiotomy either with either kids though I did tear ever so slightly with #1 and needed two stitches with her. That is what I wanted to avoid the most, much more than an epidural.
You could ask them for your reports and
upon reading them make a decision as to whether you think it is "more" on a benign side. I ask for copies of all lab work, path reports, MRIs, whatever and I keep up with them to know for myself about diagnosis, are my labs in range, etc. Maybe seeing the report and reading it will help you make a better decision.
Sad reports sm
I have worked on many cases which were extremely sad. I was always a very caring person and when I started transcribing some of these sad cases, I wanted to quit. My supervisor said, "You can't get involved." I thought she was a horrible person. After many years and many sad stories, I found I got hardened but not without telling myself that I was actually helping the patient by giving them an accurate, caring record to accompany them on whatever journey they took. After becoming an independent contractor, I also worked on oncology for years when pick up and delivery were part of the scenario. I saw beautiful people disintegrate before my eyes and die. One was a beautiful young woman who got married during her treatment and died. When my own younger sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, I was able to answer some of her questions to the best of my ability, talk about her funeral, etc., as she only had 18 months. Years ago, I would probably have had a breakdown just at the news. Did I become, "hard hearted?" No! But I matured in some strange way. My hubby in later years took over some of my deliveries to the oncologist and could not tolerate seeing patients in the waiting room. It was only then that I realized how I had grown and matured. I am sure some of my family wondered why I did not turn into a crying machine at family funerals, etc. What I did do was have the ability to go to the funeral home, arrange for burials, funerals, etc., in a professional manner. I do not understand it myself, as I was always a crier. I just have to tell myself that I have graduated, matured and have gotten to the point where I can help others without falling apart. Who knew?? I think I have been given a gift and my responsibility is to carry on with grace and dignity. I call it "grace in the bank." Never thought I would see the day when I could handle my own bad news, i.e., "You have cancer, you have breast cancer and that breast has to come off!" (My answer: "When?" Doc: "Last week.") My action - 2nd and 3rd opinions. Outcome - I kept my breast, was told by 2nd and 3rd opinions that after tumor board consults, there was only a question of cancer, DCIS changed to atypical cells. Seven years later, I am still here, no sign of cancer, no mastectomy,no drugs or radiation -- just atypia. Since then, watchful waiting and 6 month visits. How did all this come about? Maturity, just mature decisions and a clear head. So hang in there. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger (and wiser). True story. DO NOT ignore your breasts or any other part of your body, but be a consumer in health care. You would not buy the first car you see on the lot. The maturity and wisdom you will gain will help you and your family in the future. You will be stronger, wiser and a help to everyone if you can overcome the emotion. One of my saddest cases - a psychiatrist had to testify in writing her decision to recommend taking away custody of a child from two retarded people who had married and conceived a child. They were not taking proper care of her through no fault of their own. She was crying while she dictated and so was I. Life is not easy. Just remember you are in the "helping profession" and if you don't pat yourself on the back for doing a great job, I will! Don't take it personally, just do your best job ever and the patient will benefit from your perfect medical record. Manage that stress now; it will pay you back in the future. Hang in there.
I do op reports - sm
I had only been with this account for two weeks or so, and I wish now I had known how to save it for myself. The doc was describing, I think, a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Somehow, he says, the CO2 line got hooked up to helium and after insufflating the patient's abdomen, the patient began to rise up off of the operating table, and they eventually had to have step stools brought in to be able to reach the patient to complete the operation (I was wondering why they didn't just tie the patient down!). Anyway, the operation finished, the abdomen was deflated, the patient sank back down to the table and the surgeon closed and the patient went to the recovery room in stable condition. Something seemed a little hinky about the whole thing and I notified the transcription supervisor. The date on the report? April 1, 2003.
It was Consumer Reports who said it, actually, LOL
I'm not a bagless fan because I don't want to go outside every time I dump my vacuum cleaner. I don't see how to control loose dry material when you remove it from the cannister. I don't want to reach in there, and it seems like just dumping it into a trash can would cause clouds of dust to rise. Just my thoughts on it, but it was Consumer Reports who didn't think Dyson or any other bagless was the best for pet hair.
yes, they might charge you a bit for reports...sm
but is always worth it to have them.........*S*.....my friend in Florida just had a cardiac catheterization and wanted his reports, and they charged him $11 for them DIRECTLY after the procedure...*sheesh* - cannot believe it......
Not what the reports are saying. They're
saying the highest numbers are in 'healthy' young adults and that's one of the signs of a pandemic.
Been watching reports on TV all day on this.
Sounds really scary. The worst and most alarming report as the worry about spread through the folks traveling to work on the subway systems and public transportation. The last report by Dr. OZ was that they would know more by Friday and be updating things then. Have a local hospital here in town reporting one case and waiting for test results.
One report said if things get really severe, they will close businesses and doggone it all - we work from home, will still be working, and bet the ERs and hospitals will have more reports than ever.
I used to type ER reports.
They were quite, um, interesting. Lots of strange occurrences that increased around the time of the full moon each month. I had one doctor trying to dictate a drunk/drugged patient with foreign object removal, but he couldn't stop giggling through the entire report. He even apologized for giggling.
You should read what some of the VR/ASR reports
come up with. On the other board someone mentioned that ASR came up with a diagnosis that the patient had HIV, which was never even dictated, and she did not know where it came from. Can you imagine if she had not caught that and deleted it.
I have heard you can put explanation on some reports, ie,

Free credit reports
A lot of people don't know this, but you can get FREE annual printed copies of your credit reports online in seconds from the 3 major credit companies.
There are a lot of online companies out there saying you can only get this information if you pay for it and try to get you to sign up for some type of credit services. Not true.
''This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion''.
www.annualcreditreport.com
is the official site to help consumers to obtain their free credit report.
Hope this helps others : )
But they can say I need xx reports/lines in 24 hours.

The company writing the 1099 reports that
They have to report the 1099s they distribute.
I personally have great disdain for tax evaders, which is what you are if you don't report your income.
I pay my taxes and report all of my income fairly and accurately. Those who don't are commiting a criminal act against me as a taxpayer and against the government.
Sending your 1099 in a black envelope would be a protective measure, prevening others from easily viewing information through the envelope. Not quite as underhanded as you seem to want to believe. :)
Poll: short reports or long ones?
which do you prefer?
I like short ones myself, I get bored with the long ones.
Funny, the majority of reports I type
Sure are a bunch of them being born with congenital abnormalities that require a lot of surgery and long stays in intensive care! But of course, let's drive up our own health care costs by pulling out all stops to keep them healthy from birth! Glad to know MY smoking and eating is causing the crisis (although I pay MY taxes and health care premiums), not free health care to thousands of new illegal aliens every day!
I type pediatric reports all the time, and from what
I've been reading, it can easily happen as early as 8, or as late as 14-15. (I was 13, myself). 10 is a tad young, but certainly not abnormal. If I had a daughter going starting her menses, I'd get her something like "Always", the pads that have sticky wings on them that attach them to underpants. No annoying, visible, uncomfortable belts! She may be a tad young for tampons, but maybe when she's a little older that could be an option too. I just wish they had those stick-on pads when I was a teenager!
I type reports of women in their 40's delivering all the time.

I am sure when the clients get professionally transcribed reports and the doctors find our
reports accurate nobody is thinking of pajamas or sweats. The home environment just allows us to be a little more relaxed and take showers, etc. on our own schedule. What in the world does that do to undermine what we know and do? As far as what others think of our job in a home environment walk a mile in our shoes, or slippers, whatever the case may be.
I think Consumer Reports mentions cameras in the gift issue. See if

Thanks, so scary
I put my cats in the powder room with their blanket in the inner part of the house. I watched TV and was ready to join them as soon as I was told to take cover as was being told to people just down I-75 from me. Like I said, rotation 2 miles away and that is too close for me. Live on a high hill and last year tornado touched down in exactly the same place where rotation was today. Hope I have missed the bullet for this time. There has been damage though in my state from a tornado today. Thanks, I was praying also.

I remember when the study came out in a health magazine back in the ྖs. I found this link, which tells more of the story than I remember from the health magazine article.

I've been told I'm an alarmist (even a whacko!)....so I don't really talk about these things very much. My own family doesn't believe in much of this either, and I won't go into it here in great detail. But let me just say this:
The best thing to do is to be informed, and then each of us can make the decisions for ourselves, of what we put into our bodies, or on it, etc.
For myself, I do not to use a microwave.
I do not buy genetically modified food, if I know what it is, and can help it, that is. Corn is the scariest thing out there right now, that's in so many different foods/drinks:
http://www.truefoodnow.org/shoppersguide/guide_printable.html#baking
I buy organic food and non-hormone and non-antibiotic meats, non-irradiated as well.
I use only biodegradable household cleaners, nothing toxic.
I do not use flouride toothpaste or antibiotics that are fluoroquinolones.
I do not to use a deodorant that has aluminum in it.
I will not have any vaccinations that have mercury in them.
I now get only porcelain fillings, no more amalgam (silver, mercury). It's on my wish list to get all the old mercury out of my mouth, and I've been doing it slowly.
I also stay out of the sun, because I have fair skin, and skin cancer runs in my family.
I try to make as many healthy choices as I can.
Like I said, though, all we can do is inform ourselves. Find out everything you can on things that may be poisoning us, without our even knowing it. Then choose how you go about living your life.
yep very very scary
I was born in the 50s...so I'm old enough to BE your mother *snickers* *winks@U*
In my opinion, this country slowly but surely is becoming a dictatorship....I'm just glad my kid is an adult now and I don't have to face these Gardisil issue(s), until she has children of her own. And if she has a girl - I'm against that mandatory thing......
if we raise our girls right, we can cut down on these problems. I raised mine right and she waited...and listened....I think I just lucked out....but I didn't stop talking and still don't...*laughs*
and on her myspace page she has put me as Her Hero....*flattered* and *humbled* by this kid!!! We have a great relationship, something I didn't have with my own mother...(though had it with my father and is probably why I didn't have it with my mother, and they remained married for 48 hours until her death....)
My Dad was THE BEST! They don't make 'em like they made 'em in the beginning of the prior century....I always told him. He died a couple of years ago, I miss him badly...I never did miss my mother...oh that's not entirely true - I missed her growing up while she was alive...(her social life was more important than her kids, the post WWII moms, some of them were like this....)
Keep The Faith is what I think.....
me too - it is scary, isn't it? (sm)
We have had our money split up for severaal years. In fact my husband recently bought a $7,000 boat without even discussing it with me :(
that is scary
I'm glad you had the dogs there with you - I too never lock my doors - also living in a rural area. I have dogs also. . but I may start locking my doors when I am alone. .
Scary isn't it?
I don't have any advice for you, but I have an 11 year old son. Found out that lots of kids in his MIDDLE SCHOOL are having sex, drinking, smoking, and using drugs. This is in a 'supposedly good' school in a suburb of Atlanta. There is also some gang activity. I will be homeschooling him starting this fall.
I am so sorry to hear of your problems with your daughter. I hope that someone here is able to offer you some sound advice. I know that it is not a good feeling to have someone living in your house whom you feel you cannot trust.
Not scary now, on TV, but REALLY scary in the
Best line:
"I think we're gonna need a bigger boat."
He is scary sometimes...sm
I have told my mom on more than one occasion he is not right in the head. I think he has mental issues. He does not demonstrate normal behavior at all.
I agree his girlfriend can sew it back on. You know what is funny is his girlfriend doesn't know how he REALLY is. He hides that side of himself. My mom said one day it will come out and she will see him for who he really is.
He thinks nothing of calling one time right after another if you don't answer the phone and will ride by and spy on you to see if you are home or just not answering the phone. My mom did have to threaten to call 911 one night though cause he was on her front porch banging on the windows and the walls and crying and yelling to let him in please. She had to threaten to call 911 before he would leave.
Can you say insane?!
You got it!!! I am so real, it's scary *LOL*
And I never tried to push my upbringing/religion onto anybody ever in life and now I'm not into organized religion but very into G_D! And I would never push my ways down anyone else's gullet.
very scary indeed - (I used to live in AZ)....no msg
