Miniature poodle, sm
They don't HAVE to be yappy and poorly behaved! ANY dog will bark at a cat, it is a dog thing. This is the ONLY time my Sandee is a "yapper." She is NOT nervous and everyone who visits me comments on her calm demeanor and the fact that she doesn't greet them with barking and jumping on them. Those issues are the problems of the owners NOT the breed or the dog...it is just that the dog gets the bad rap.
Poodles do not shed or do very little of it. Mine does not shed one speck. I have allergies, but she is also low dander and I have never had a problem with her that way. Poodles are recognized as being one of the more intelligent breeds and that would be Sandee. I got her at 8 weeks and it took me less than 3 weeks to housebreak her. She has never been a stubborn dog who pees on the carpet to get attention. If I don't get her out (my fault, not hers) she will hit the same spot on the same rug every time, then put herself in the corner for punishment. (I never have punished her this way, so it is just weird.)
She is very loyal, but unlike other breeds who become one person dogs in a family situation, poodles usually do not. I live alone, grown kids, and while she loves the kids, she has never lived with them and makes them know exactly whose mama I am and it is NOT theirs. She is unusual in that because poodles tend to be whole family dogs.
She doesn't slobber at all and is more affectionate than most kittens I have known. She came up and rubbed her head on my leg yesterday and then rubbed me with her paw to show me how much she loves me. So much better than a beagle would hump instead.
I don't like dogs and I especially didn't like poodles because of the stereotypical things they supposedly do. I got a poodle and I have been extremely surprised and delighted in every way. I could not have a more loyal, affectionate, well behaved and charming little pet. Yes, I am rather in love with my dog!
Anyone have experience with miniature daschunds?
I love daschunds and would love to have one, but really do not know too much about them. Does anyone have one of these dogs and what is your experience. I would love to have a dog but really dont want a hyper dog that would jump on company or lick them to death if they do not want to be bothered, or one that constantly barks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, TIA.
My Miniature Dachshund is itchy!!!
I took him to the vet and she said that his skin is not irritated so there is no need to switch his food yet. He is current on his flea medication so I don't know what's going on. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff??
I feel so bad for him he rolls around scratching himself all the time. His skin isn't red and he's not missing any patches of fur. My mom said to add olive oil to his dry food. Any thoughts?
Thanks!!
