Romey's Chair Glue
I found the name of the glue I saw at the car show. It glue everything. It is called Rescue Industrial Bond Adhesive and they have a website at:

www.RescueGlue.com

The site is having some problems. I tried to email you the phone #, but it wouldn't go through. Email me if you want it. Hope your chair is already fixed though.
Romey, did you ever find a fix for your chair?
This is how much of a freak I am....it has been driving nuts that 1.) a chair of that caliber would break like that, and 2.) Wondering what, if anything, you found to fix it.  I would be having a you-know-what fit.  Those suckers aren't cheap!  Did you ever try that super puddy stuff folks were talking about?
Romey, would you know how I could
acquire these?  Is there a website or store?  I think it could save him some work and worth looking into.  Any info you have on these would be great.  Thanks so much.
Ouch. Yes, Romey is so right. They actually are
not getting declawed as vets would like us to think - its a big $$ maker for vets - but removing their bones - like taking our fingers off halfway at the 2nd or 3rd joint. I declawed 2 cats about 25 years ago - totally ignorant of the reality of it - and I have NEVER forgiven myself. And one of the cats - 2 brothers - got out accidentally and lost his life because he could not climb a tree or anything and get away from a neighbor's dog. Please reconsider. I have 2 male cats now - just over 1 year, and they do absolutely nothing damaging - one is fixed, one is not. We just have several scratch posts and a kitty condo, and lots of little toys. Can you hang in there and try just a bit more?
Thanks for the info Romey.
I will definitely check it out.    Yes, we love our cat, but it's just the scratching that is a little cumbersome.  We did try a spray from Petco, but she seemed to act really strange after she scratched where it was sprayed, so hubby was afraid it was making her sick.  She would sleep a lot and stagger around the house.
Romey, are you also known as Heather?
x
Romey! How the heck are ya?!

Ham was in the cam all day today...it's about 45 degrees out and she has been out there all day is turning BRIGHT pink!  I'm actually worried she's going to burn, but she insists on lying out there and soaking in the rays.  Can't say I blame her one bit.  If I could, I'd be moving this 'puter thing outside and doing my work out there today!  It was 10 degrees out there this morning and overnight and we have had nothing but snow and ice for ages it seems...such a welcome sight that sunshine is!

Well, after a week in the Mirra chair, I sat in this Aeron and wow--what a difference.  I actually like it better than the Mirra!  The seat is bigger, and with a caboose as big as mine, that makes a huge difference.  This is a well-used demo model though and it kinda tips to the left, but I think if I am gonna spring the bucks, I'm gonna do it on this style.  My husband now has the Mirra chair for a week and as soon as he sat in that one he said, "Oh yuck...can I have that other one back now?"

I haven't talked to the rep guy yet..just got his voicemail, but when he shows up next week to take these chairs back I will most definitely ask that question for you, as I'd like to know the answer too!

Glad your friend enjoyed seeing piggy.  Just WAIT until mud season (which hopefully is only a few more weeks away)...she will be out there all the time and in her absolute glory!  Her favorite game is to tip over the water trough and make more mud...that's when you see me, all wild haired and disheveled, running out there to turn it upright and refill it with H20.  It usually goes badly because she dumps it as it's filling and I can't do squatola about it.  I may be big, but she's waaaay bigger and I think if we were to get into a fight, well, she'd win hooves down.

Thank you, Romey. Forwarded url to my SIL in N. Calif. sm
She and her daughter have a couple horses and are crazy about them.  I'm sure she'll help in whatever way she can and let others know as well.
Romey, how touching the video, I just
loved Sophia, have sent her photo out to many.

Romey, Adia is just beautiful!

Oh I so love it when people post pictures!  She is just beautiful and reminds me of my Norman, a Maine Coon stray we had a couple of years ago.  He was just the fattest, most loveable guy and so laid back.  Sure do miss him.  He went MIA here in the woods and we figure a fisher got him, as every neighbor in the local area lost their cats in the same month.

But, yeah, I am IN LOVE with that neato fur bedspread and funky glittery purple pillow too!   My animals would go NUTS for that spread!

If you guys go for the surgery, make sure you give her a good talkin' too!  She ain't gettin' any younger!  But seriously, I wouldn't worry too awful much about her pushing herself.  Animals feel pain, just like us, and if she's hurtin', she'll (hopefully) learn her limits right quick.  Just go easy on the pain medications...they can mask pain and that will make themforget their injuries and they wind up doing not-so-smart stuff....this I know.  Keep us posted on how she's doing!

Romey I posted my comment on U-Tube
I said there God Bless all rescuers. I cannot describe the feelings I have after viewing this video. I guess heartbroken would be close.
i thought it was very cute and i can definitely relate. thanks for sharing romey! nm
@
chair
Ace Hardware and Walmart sells this stuff called Shoe Goo that works great on everything like this. It's a silicone in a tube, but is very sticky and lasts forever. I have used it on stuff in my house and even my car.
does your chair
put too much pressure under the knee using the foot pedal? if so, you might try doing like i do, and have foot pedal raised up on a little platform (build from wood/use books/boxes, anything for the height). Sometimes i feel too much pressure on the heel as well, and have used a beaded wrist rest under my heel.
So if I get a smaller chair...LOL
nm
My little one is laying on the arm of the chair
with his head hanging over the side. Every now and then he jerks his head back up when he starts to fall off! He's mad because I wouldn't let him lay on the nice warm laptop.
Nope, that's her chair only.

Wonder where the snowmen came from? Must have been a chain store that sold them. This one was in central Indiana...

Repairing chair

I saw this stuff at a car show that does the same thing as Mighty Putty, but it is a thinner liquidy type stuff and it worked really well.  I saw it at Hot August Nights this past year in Reno.  It worked really fast and is "sandable" - I watched the man work with it and it dries almost instantly and I wish I remembered the name.   Maybe if you go to some car restoration websites you will see it.  I think I remember that it was acrylic based and that you can add fibers to it if you wish.  If my chair died I would cry, so I hope you are able to fix it.  It does look fixable to me.  Good luck.

Rigged chair
Thanks for asking, meant to give an update, but forgot. Nice older man made the repair for me, owe him my life, or at least the life of my back. Love love this chair, out of it for 5 days, and oh the love I have for this chair, forgot how much I love this chair.

Called Herman Miller and they sent me to a chair repair place on the phone who said they would replace the seat of my chair for $250, which I was willing to pay, but thought I would try this fix first, still may get it in the future, but hey, may not be pretty, but it sure as he@ll works. Man friend said about the putty, you mean that Super BullS@it putty, so no I didn't try it.
Well, maybe they are terrified of the potty chair because we
missed the window of opportunity to teach them when they are younger. Here's just one of many articles on the topic:

http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/Potty-Training/Article-Cleveland-Plain-Dealer.htm

And a Google search with words like "disposable diapers" "American" "late potty training" will turn up lots more information along this vein.

People seem to think that training children early is cruel. But there are gentle techniques for teaching continence, and we need only be in tune with the signals children give. The later age of toilet training indisputably correlates to the introduction and widespread use of disposables in this country. Did you know that Dr. T. Berry Brazelton signed on as a spokesman with Proctor and Gamble back in the 1960's? He was paid a lot of money to promote disposables.

Disposables are a big business in this country. Advertising and time have erased the memory of a time when most American children were trained by age 2. It can be done. It takes a little patience, knowledge of gentle techniques, and lots of praise. Children do tell you when they are ready to train, but these days people don't know the the nonverbal cues that children give us. Instead, we wait for children to stand up, walk over and say, "I'm quite finished with using diapers from this point forward."

The tide is slowly turning again, however. Perhaps your grandchildren will be toilet trained at 18 months as more and more people discover that it's far easier to train a younger child than it is an older one. The older child has basically unlearned an unconscious thing. Most people will accept that it's easier to learn a new language when we're younger rather than older. It's exactly the same for toileting.
How about beach-chair position?
Doncha know the patient wishes they were really in a chair on the beach instead of in the operating room.

Looks like you guys need a bigger chair!
Boy, have they settled right in or what?!  That is absolutely wonderful!  You guys must be so happy!
Excellent Work Chair

The drinkin kind or the rubbin kind?? sm
So....is that for me to drink so I don't notice or care that my hands are all splotchy black or to get the ink off?    Seriously though, do I use the rubbing alcohol - or like Jack Daniels??  and do I soak in it or what?  I never heard of using alcohol but I'll try anything.
GEEZ, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing!
I really do appreciate this laugh! LOL

Might want to change the angle or height of your chair to
s
Herman Miller Aeron Chair
Thanks Annie M, maybe I will never need a new seat. My brother was a welder, if he were alive, he would have fixed it for me. Great load has been lifted, please chair, never die on me again.
I remember sliding out of a chair and sleeping on the floor (sm)
at my MIL's house during first trimester. Just seemed to drop off so easily and they were soooooo boring.

Good luck to you. Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy.
I read that and almost fell of my chair I was laughing so hard....
but that was my first impression too, eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww, that's gross and disgusting. LOL.
Poll. The Nebraska high court decided that the electric chair is inhumane. What do you think? nm
I think it should be legal and used in certain circumstances. I mean, if DNA proves that the person committed the crime, confesses to it, is caught on tape - why can't the electric chair be used on them? What about the inhumanity that the "convict" used on his victims?
I feel that is best too. I have been kind, very kind, to this ...sm
child since he moved here in March. I also am not one of those parent's that thinks my children are perfect. You never know what they might do out of your presence. I do know how I have raised them though and I am all for getting them all together when there is a problem and getting to the bottom of it but anymore that doesn't seem to work. The parents automatically get defensive and start making excuses, etc. I'm going to look for somewhere else to move. I've lived here for 2-1/2 years and we never had a problem until this boy moved in. His mother is a piece of work.
Need advice on a good, adjustable chair for typing. Any advice? nm
nm
Are those the red kind of
licorce? Have not tried those yet. Wonder if they would be good with, say a few olives on the side?
and that's being kind actually....sm

I could think of dozens of adjectives that are *stronger* than smarmy but probably not permitted to be typed at this website...

GMTA = great minds think alike, eh?

I would not want to pay for that kind
of therapy.  If the therapist cannot stay neutral and professional...I just would not be comfortable either.  If my friends and family cannot be my therapist, why would I want my therapist to act like a friend?  Good luck in whatever you do.
At least you got a thank you of some kind. sm
There have been a couple times when I haven't even received a thank you note for a wedding gift.

Actually, I think it was just one time, because the other time I finally got the thank you note (lovely, hand written), but it was a *year* later! (And I thought I procrastinated... LOL)
That's kind of what
I figured, but wasn't sure. Are you talking about like the Solarcaine green gel with lidocaine? That's what I put on it, but he will barely even let me do that. I put sunscreen on them on and off all day, but guess not enough! I guess I underestimated that hot Galveston sun! Thanks for the advice.
What kind of look are you going for?

Classic? Country? Rustic? Modern?

Butcher-block (or lookalike) would work for country or rustic. Stainless steel would work for modern. Tile or slate could work for most styles, depending on the design.

I have a Corian-type solid surface countertop which I like. It does scratch fairly easily, but the scratches are easily buffed out with polish unless they are really deep.

Well, I think they are trying to do some kind of (sm)

public service or something, probably about reporting it.  Brooke was on at the very end making a little speech, but I actually didn't hear it.

YAY!!! What kind did you get? (sm)
I've been using one for years, but I'm working 2 jobs now and to break the monotony, I use 2 different computers in different rooms. I 'commute' with my ergo keyboard because the one downstairs has a regular keyboard. So, I'm thinking about getting a new one. The one I'm using now is a Microsoft, but I think the model is extinct, so I'm looking for recommendations.

You're not a dork. I know how you feel. It was like... How the heck did I ever type on a regular keyboard!!?? With our job, ergonomics and comfort is everything. Congrats and have fun LOL ;-)
No and if I did that, she is the kind that
would be highly insulted, get her nose out of place. I have honest to goodness kept my mouth shut when I wanted time after time to say something- I love her but I don’t like her. Does any other mother understand this? I have walked on egg shells not saying things. Not an open communication ever with her- she is much into her friends though.
You are too kind!
20 years ago I would have flew off the handle to have something like this, but now I know it is in His hands, not mine!  Thanks for the encouragement.
Me too. I can't think of what kind of job I can do
that isn't MT...I've been doing this for so long. I can write well, and am a heckuva ghostwriter (have done blogs and resume cover letters for friends) but can't figure out where the money is in that. Sigh.

Good luck to everyone.
You all have been so kind
Thank you all so much. Words just cannot express my gratitude for the way you've extended your hearts to a virtual stranger. You're all amazing.

Romey, your post was very nice. I couldn't read it the first time I tried. I had to walk away and come back and read it later.

It is getting easier with time.
Kind of

Usually every year my husband's family gathers here in Central Florida at the beach.  However, during the hurricane season of 2004, the condo that my uncle owned timeshare in got damaged to the point of being condemned.  So now that we have to actually PAY for a condo, this year we have decided to head up to the panhandle which is halfway between the FL family and the AL family and in the same town as one of the aunts, namely due to gas prices and Lord their drive used to be 10 hours, no fun with kids.

As for us, we will be heading up there which we don't usually do.  However, both myself and my husband work from home so we might put gas in each vehicle once a month?  We also own a boat which we put gas in but this year we're telling friends who want to come out and go wakeboarding that they're going to have to chip in for gas.  As an FYI, boat takes 87 and not great gas mileage.  I drive a truck that takes the cheap stuff but gets 19 mpg and less while towing the boat.  Husband drives a sportscar that takes 93 BUT gets like 25-28 mpg, to say the least we will be driving his car to the panhandle in May!

You are both so kind, and you are right
on the mark. Yes, the credit cards are his. He lived off credit cards for several years to support himself and his kids after he and his wife split up. His wife never paid child support and he paid for daycare and everything, so had to pay for extras outside of his salary on credit. Then when I came along I was doing real well as a hospital MT, but had to quit because I was here and he needed me to watch the kids. He did not understand I had a shift like a regular job. So, after several months of my back and forth work and being with the kids, the boss gave me an ultimatum daycare for the kids or I leave my job. I told my DH that my income which was very good at the time was important to me as I have supported myself my whole life including being a single mom. But he would not budge. So, I quit. It has been 3 years and most of our marriage my trying to balance kids (I love them don't get me wrong) and work. I finally become a SE, and I am giving him direct deposit on my paycheck with me taking a small percentage out for things for my son. But, since the money is now coming in he is putting it to the credit cards. Anyway, I stopped eating mostly because I got disgusted. He is always having sandwiches and chowing down in front of me. His boy who is a big eater is asking for 3 or 4 snacks a day. My son asks for snacks there's nothing left and he said to me:" Next time you get money mommy, GO FOOD SHOPPING." He said that right in front of DH. But, I just know when I do that the gorging goes on. I explained to DH about telling his son about gluttony, but he laughs at me. So, when I see him and his son eat this way, I get grossed out and am not hungry at all. I am sorry to say all this here. I actually just came back from the doc who gives me nerve pills because of my situation and he says I am doing really well coping with the situation. Which he knows what is going on. He is sending me to see a good counselor who he says," will validate me and give me support and confidence." Last time I went to see a counselor she told me to leave. But, my son loves his step sister and brother and so I want to stay. Well, sorry for the soap opera. I think when I start making more money I will get food and tires for my car, etc. but I will hide some food and snacks and siphon it into the general population here. That way they don't get snorted up by certain people. LOL. (And yes, I am putting an emergency fund away. But this is why I wish there was more transcription out there!) Thanks for your kind words and support. Between you and the doc today, it makes me feel I am not alone! :)
I kind of like this.

I have tried nearly every kind
of mascara known to woman. My favorite BY FAR is the Loreal Voluminous waterproof. It's so silky, non-clumping, etc. Just perfect. So I guess now it's time for them to discontinue it - LOL! That's what happened after I found my perfect foundation -- Maybelline's Wonder Finish.
Yup, have 2 teens and it is kind....
of interesting as one does not have "all the time in the world for that anymore." We have got to get when we can. But also he works nights and obviously sleeps some during the day. Maybe that is what has kept the fire going all these years. LOL
