In Reply to: Are the dogs okay if they don't see each other? - Happy MT Robin

they seem to taunt each other when the other is inside and the other is not......if that makes any sense!  Meaning, when my dogs are out, the other dogs will bark and cry (according to my neighbor) at the door until someone lets them out.  My dogs in turn stand there and stare in that retriever pose at the gate because they see and hear the other dogs scratching at thier doors to get out. Now my dogs are on ready, set, go and it results in them not being able to use the bathroom and take in the scenery in peace.

It really has become a problem on the owners part by not putting thier foot down when it comes to thier dogs.  She told me once that because they were so used to being outside all day (before we came along), that they don't behave very well indoors anymore and forget their house manners and poop and pee (sorry!) in the house until they get what they want.

She and her kids in turn fall for the okeedoke everytime and lets them out and then the "rumble in the jungle" starts!  We on the other hand do not play that!  If we tell our dogs to sit down and shut up, they do it!  I'll admit I have noticed our dogs getting antsy if they are indoors and they hear the dogs outside, but it never gets to the point where they are running around half crazy until someone lets them out.  They know that if we say that they have to wait to go outside, they will go and sit down, shut up and wait!

I am just hoping that getting a privacy fence will cut down at least some of the bickering  and scrapes and bruises between the chain link fence.  My dogs are in their golden years now and don't need to be aggitated any more than neccesary.  My youngest has hip dysplasia and also has had a torn knee ligament becuase of the fighting.....not to mention the countless cuts and scrapes they get from biting through the fence!  They are old and they simply do not need to be out there fighting it out the way they do.
