Planned Parenthood does GYN exams
They charge on a sliding scale and possibly could refer you to a specialist who might be willing to work with your financial situation. Go to their website and see if there is one near you.
I went to Planned Parenthood in college
They charged me $5 for the visit and $10 for 6 months worth of birth control pills. Name brand. Not too bad, so maybe she just hit a bad one.
Planned PArenthood began in 1916
Planned Parenthood is America's leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. Founded by Margaret Sanger in 1916 as America’s first birth control clinic, Planned Parenthood believes that everyone has the right to choose when or whether to have a child, that every child should be wanted and loved, and that women should be in charge of their destinies.
| Planned Parenthood affiliates nationwide provide sexual and reproductive health care, education, and information to millions of women, men, and teens in the United States each year. Three and a half million Planned Parenthood activists and supporters also serve as advocates for sexual and reproductive rights.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the national organization, is a world-renowned leader in reproductive rights and health. PPFA provides support to affiliates nationwide and addresses reproductive health needs in developing countries through our international programs and our membership in the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

My daughter definitely got the shaft from Planned Parenthood
Buyer Beware on Them! They advertise the so-called sliding scale, but when my full-time college student daughter went to them for BCPs, she ended up owing them over $150 and they still wanted something crazy every month for filling the pills too. She was making less than $30 per week at the time and was over 18 and she told them repeatedly that she didn't want to get her parents involved in it. At least they respected her wishes on not sending the bill to us instead! But she would have been far better off just going to a regular doctor and getting a regular prescription for generic something or other and taking it to Wal-Mart!
Planned Parenthood = MAJOR RIPOFF once you're out of high school!
I should mention that they gave her no hassle at all and charged her nothing when she was still in high school (in a different town). She went to PP in the college town thinking it would be the same deal. NOT! Apparently everything changes with them once you're considered old enough to be having sex. Kind of strikes me like offering drugs for free until the customer gets hooked.
