In response to the local newpaper asking if we were holding any fish frys for Lent:

We are fishers of men, not fryers of fish.

Well, I thought it was funny!

That's sad; I've seen a pastor (sm)
disregard feelings of the older members, courting a younger crowd and basically telling the older people if they didn't like the changes they could leave, but I haven't heard of someone basically practically giving a building and contents away like that. That's one reason I won't ever be a member of an independent church; I kind of like an individual pastor not having so much power to do as they wish.

Unfortunately, I think the folks who have donated things that have been sold probably don't have any legal recourse. It might be worth checking with a lawyer, though.
My DH is a pastor, and this is just wrong .... SM
no matter what the denomination.  It's not HIS church, and these are not his material things to be done away with.
I have heard of a junior pastor
coming in and stealing all the cash offerings and it went on for years, so anything is possible.

A pastor is a servant. Does this behavior sound servant-like?
This guy has to get a clue. He isn't a pastor. He has no church. If he did sm
he'd have members. This guy thinks he's leading, but he's only taking a walk.

I kind of feel sorry for him, though. I am in the ministry. If the people don't support you, you have no ministry. This guy has no support. If he did he wouldn't have had to do what he did. He probably didn't bother telling anyone because these people aren't committed to attending his "church" anyway.

If it were me, I'd cut my losses, pray for him and move on. Don't call the police, just move on.

One of the biggest problems facing the church today is bitterness, resentment and unforgiveness between believers.

One day our pastor stopped by for a visit

and my son, who was 5 then, was talking to him.  The pastor asked my son what time his bedtime was and he replied, "it's s'posed to be 9 o'clock, but mommy says we piss 'round till 10."  I almost died of embarrassment.  Unfortunately, pissin' is a word I use quite often and never realized how much kids picked up on it.  Thankfully, the pastor laughed and said he understood completely as he grew up on a farm and there was a lot of that going on there.

One of my all-time favorite sayings from my pastor: Givers always sm
have enough. Takers never have enough.

Both me and my husband are big givers- to the church, our family, our friends, strangers. I love to entertain and open up our home to others and this summer, every single Wed. we invite at least 4 families over to come swimming in our pool and just do whatever they want to do to "get away" for a while. We live pretty far out from town.

We love to give and give our time and love, too. It keeps us young, happy, and fulfilled.

The truly happy in life are happy because they give of their time and their life to helping others. When you do that, you really don't have time to harp on the negatives in your life or wonder "why doesn't anyone do that for me?"

Want to be happy? Get over yourself. Go across the street and help your depressed neighbor.
That explains better why you would post here. Pastor's wives are often isolated from friends. W
