Our Jack Russel had a tear

but it was not complete. We took her to the vet and the cost of the surgery was not anywhere near that. The vet said to give it a few weeks and see how she does. He did give her pain meds and said no jumping on or off furniture. Can you imagine, not letting a Jack Russel jump, HA HA, good one. She certainly favored it for a couple of weeks but was eventually able to use the leg normally except when going down steps. BTW, she can no longer jump on our bed but is able to get on the other furniture just fine. Defintely get a second opinion. Hope all goes well.

Is it a complete tear?
Sometimes they can cast them hip-to-toe and they get better, usually according to how severe the tear is. You might seek a second opinion. I have seen some folks take them to the chiropractor and give arthritis meds. Putting him down would not be an option if it were me. Heck I'd amputate if it required it before I would put him down. I realize sometimes this is necessary but as long as quality is life is still good, it is not necessary, plus, he still has 3 perfectly good legs.
Go to petpeoplesplace.com and post your story. It usually shows what state you are in, and ask if anyone knows anywhere in your area that you can call for assistance. There is very good advice on there. There are foundations that finance these surgeries or assist in payment.
I do nothing - I tear my Tshirt off...sm
I end up tearing off my tshirt, turn down the a/c, pace around for a bit, then try to get back to sleep.....I have just sort of accepted this, as it's been ongoing for soooo many years....and I'm not into hormonal replacement therapy.....
You made me tear up! LOL
great post!
Thank you all for your kind words. Why do I have a tear or 2 in my eye?? I think it is sm
because it feels great to know I am not alone and that other WOMEN know my pain and can sympathize with me. That's all I needed yesterday!
Update: My little one is quite tired, but I don't see him itching! He is on Atarax, which I guess is a very strong Benadryl, and besides the fact that I have to stay home and indoors all week with him, all is well. He will be fine and I am doing great this morning.
Thank you ALL for your kind words. I was so glad to come on here this morning and not be drilled, too, by my fellow MTs! LOL
sarcasm = *to tear flesh* - MUST YOU?????
Anyone ever tear a rotator cuff? - sm
I took quite a fall yesterday in the snow/ice outside (our 1 snowstorm this year, how freaky) and hurt my left shoulder. Went to the ER which ruled out a break (didn't think I broke it but could not move it w/o considerable pain) but said that I either sprained or tore my rotator cuff. It is only slightly better today, I can straighten my arm out now w/o pain. Was told to go to PCP or Orthopedic doc Monday if it still hurt a lot. Obviously I can still type, for which I am grateful. I am in a sling but my keyboard tray is the exact level at which my arm is bent and as long as I don't move my arm about I am fine (I use my left hand a lot for certain command keys, using my right now). I was supposed to drive up (200 miles) and see my Dad on Tuesday but I fear I won't be able to now as (1) I can't lift my arm so driving would be a bit difficult, (2) can't drive while on the vicodin they gave me, not safe and too sleepy--trying to not take any today as I have a ton of work to do though that is due tomorrow. Also gave me Motrin (hurt my lower back too but that is nothing compared to the shoulder pain). As long as I don't move I feel pretty good. Would like input from anyone who has done this torn or sprained their shoulder, in my case the left one, and how long it took to heal, etc. Luckily I am off work this week , took off for Spring Break and to visit Dad, friends, in-laws, etc, still have my own account to do but they are taking off 1 day (out of 3) so that helps some pulse it only 300-500 lines a day so not too bad. TIA.
Gosh - that made me tear up!
ditto, a real tear jerker.

Jack is THE man
I've watched every season but one: couldn't stand his daughter in the show so much that I couldn't watch it. She's no longer in it, not actively anyway. Personally, I think last season was better than this one. Then again, I could watch it on "mute" and not care as long as Jack is in it. Funny. Never cared one way or another for Keifer Sutherland until the Jack Bauer character. I've seen him on talk shows a few times and he's always been a class act. I miss him in his suit and tie though, armed with a cigar cutter. Gotta love him!
Who is outback Jack? lol

Outback Jack marathon . .
Some were asking about outback Jack in the thread below . . . there's a marathon today on the reality channel ending with the wedding.
Diehard Jack Bauer fan here also (sm)
A week before Christmas 2005 we bought Seasons 1-3 and husband was getting season 4 for Christmas... He had watched before but I had not.... From December 18 until the first episode of Season 5 - which I think was around January 24 last year - we watched 24... OMGosh..... through the holidays no less!! It was absolutely wonderful and I would do again in a heartbeat... sometimes we would watch 6 episodes a day. I absolutely think watching all the seasons from the beginning is a MUST as I tried watching from Season 3 and just did not have much respect for Jack and thought he was a total nut as was Chloe.... when you watch from Season 1 Episode 1 you get a real taste of what he has been through and have a deep respect for everything - good luck and enjoy if you do!!
Definitely no chemistry with Jack and Sharon
really would love to see her with Brad and Victoria with JT.
No chemistry between Sharon and Jack, but (sm)
I like Phyllis with Nick. Don't want Nick and Sharon to get back together.
She sounds just like our Jack Russell
Lilly puts everything in her mouth that is possible. She once tried to eat a bee and found out the hard way that wasn't a good idea. My son saw her start shaking her head really hard and when she opened her mouth a bee flew out. Her snout swelled up big time. We called the vet since it was afterhours and she had us give her a benadryl and she was just fine. Another time I heard her hacking a bit and a dime fell out of her mouth. Even my kids weren't this bad about putting everything in their mouths.
Well....not exactly Lilly our Jack Russell
We love and accept her just the way she is! LOL!
Outback Jack and his pick are still married. nm
