No fan of either her or Oprah but having said that
I was so surprised when Rachael took on that type of show. She has several shows on Food NW and Oprah probably would have liked to have found her (as in Dr. Phil) but not so, too big a person in her own right before. Books, several shows on Food, well known before Oprah. Oprah played a point in putting her on that show, probably produces the newer show. I understand you are not really into Rachael but she was a talent and had already made it big longgggggggg before Oprah.
Oprah? What would anything she would say
?
No, no Oprah
Never said there was "nothing" either. It's just not what people think it is. Fairy tales are for children and heII was invented by poets, Dante to be specific.
BOO!!
Try Oprah.com
I missed what your issues are, but Oprah has a lot of great resources and seminar-type things on her site.
I know what you are saying. When it comes down to it, we are all alone. Even those who really care can only do so much.
I have been having a rough time pretty much for a couple of years. Sometimes you wonder what it's all about. Don't give up though, you just never know when something might change for the good!
I would think Dr. Phil & Oprah would have
covered these topics. They might even have that sort of information on their websites. Your mother might believe them over these men. Or undoubtedly Reader's Digest. If one of my parents were acting like this I'd seriously think they were getting something like Alzheimers, losing their good judgement.
it's now cuz Oprah is sponsoring her....BIG $$ now
x
She was also on Oprah yesterday
singing with Kelly Clarkson and Justin Limberlake, promoting her Duets with Rebba, I think that is what it is called, album. Think I will buy it. She is great. Also loved the sitcom, especially her with her ex and Barbara Jean. Very funny.
Just saw a commercial for Oprah about how
to talk to your kids about divorce. I think it said it will be on next Wednesday.
Oprah's BIG GIVE sm
I love that show. I think it is a great reality show that helps others. If you saw it last week do you think Oprah will help the family that was promised money for funeral costs and the guy did not come through for the family. I think so.
Oprah or Ellen?
Oprah today
Was that a total tearjerker today on her show with the puppy mills? I just recently found out about puppy mills as I was trying to adopt a cocker spaniel from a rescue that deals with cockers. I had to fill out a long application. They checked a lot of references, called my previous vet, previous groomer, etc. Then they had to do a home visit. The lady that did the home visit told me some very sad stories about a puppy mill where they went in at night and tried to rescue some dogs away from the place. She rescued one that only weighed 5 pounds that they used to breed. How sick are these places. She said that the Amish- are very well known for this. She told me of a story that a man through a alive dog in a Goodwill bin because he was done with the breeding process and thank God the next day a worker heard the poor thing crying. I rescued 2 cockers and could not be happier. I do not know where they came from but they are so loving. I think the government needs to get involved and shut these places down. They are breeding thousands of dogs and meanwhile we are killing hundreds a day all over the US. Does that make any sense? Please no one buy from a PET STORE. If you want a pet go to PETFINDER.COM and look up the breed, you want and you will see pictures of all kinds in all the US.
Oprah's show
I did watch it today...I thought I would have problems as I cannot watch most shows that show how animals are abused. I thought it was very informative and discrete. I will NEVER buy from a pet shop again although I got my buddy from a pet shop..went in for a hamster and came out with a 3 week old kitten in a cage by himself. He used the litter box right away with no problems. He is now 14 years old and is still not able to groom himself properly. He goes against his hair and I just laugh and tell him how handsome he is - even though his hair is sticking up with spit all over. He was not with his mom to learn. He has other problems as being very dependent and sucking on my shirt...again his mom was not there and I am his mom. He constantly "kneads" on me and I tell him it is Saturday and he does not have to make the donuts. All kidding aside, it is very sad how these babies are taken away from their mom so soon. It amazes me how money is SO important yet the babies and moms are put aside as money makers. I love my Sim but he has a lot a problems probably due to being taken away from his mom so soon. The next cat or dog I get will DEFINITELY be from a shelter, and a dog or cat that will be hard to place. Please everybody, the pups and kittens are easy to place, give a home to the ones who are blind, deaf, are HIV, etc., they are so lovable....seems they know they have problems and will give you the love as you give them!! ADOPT THE UNADOPTABLE!!!
Well Oprah loved it! I want to see it.
Maybe tomorrow.
I saw that on Oprah...so simple yet powerful!...
Especially when that married couple were at a stand still and then watched The Secret. Now, they have passion again for each other and are so happy. Something as simple as being grateful for what you have, then better things will come. I want to check that movie out.
That's the big secret? I saw some of that Oprah and got bored.
I have always been grateful for what I have, and no better things are coming my way, I can assure you. Maybe it's some sort of brainwash...with hidden subliminal messages. LOL
Anybody wath The Secret on Oprah.
Any experiences with this. I am having a great time.
I watched it. Did you just watch Oprah, or...sm
Did you order the 'The Secret' DVD? I've been thinking about ordering it. What have you been doing that's fun? Care to share?
I watched it on Oprah and then bought the CD
It's an interesting CD and I really like the theory behind it, which has been around forever if you think about it. What I didn't like was all the emphasis on material things, wealth, money, etc. To me it seemed that was the focus of the CD whereas on the show the panel focused on many other types of issues besides just getting wealthy.
Definately my choice would be Oprah!
; )
Oprah actually seems very "normal" for a billionaire,
Of course she has flaws and maybe some annoying personality traits, but it's all about intention imo, and I believe she is intending to change this world for the better, and she is succeeding! Everyone has a right to their opinion, but before throwing stones at such a great humanitarian, why not take a look at yourself and ask what you've done to better the world lately. I'm sure Oprah could name a few things off the top of her head!
She has stated numerous times that she has no interest in running for any type of political office, so don't worry your pretty little heads about it! If she ever ran I think she would have a good shot just because she lives her life pretty openly and doesn't seem to have anything to hide (she might even give too much personal info on her show!), and she seems to have a good heart and really wants to help those less fortunate. So many politicians scare me because they seem corrupt, and many are into shady business dealings. Many seem to be in it just for the money, which she already has plenty of! -end pro-Oprah rant (kam)
Please watch Oprah on Wednesday
She is doing a show about divorce and how it affects children. I think she'll have experts/psychologists on to talk about ways of explaining divorce to children to make it as least traumatic as possible. Oprah always seems to get the best experts on her show, and usually they have written books that you could read too. I think how you talk to your kids about the divorce has a huge impact, and some parents get so wrapped up in their own pain that they fail to really help the kids with their heartbreak, so I think it's great you are thinking about your son first thing. So many times the kids think it is their fault for some reason.
My personal opinion is that sometimes it is better to get divorced if you are miserable, because just as we want our kids to be happy, they want us to be happy too. But, I think you have to try with everything you have inside of you first to make the marriage work, so then you can leave knowing you did everything you could to try to save the relationship (unless it is abusive in any way). I would highly recommend watching Oprah on Wednesday though. It looks like it's going to be a very moving, informative hour.
Saw him perform on Oprah last year - sm
At least what he did there was believeable. For the mind tricks he said he pays more careful attention and is more perceptive than the average person. He watches for very, very subtle changes in breathing, body language, etc., for the mind tricks. I did see him escape from a straight jacket on Oprah. The camera never left him.
Not the OP, but I can't stand Oprah or Dr. Phil and
s
Oprah just had a special on the other woman....
and found it very interesting to hear from these women who had affairs with married men. Only one of the 4 women was still with a married man, while the others ended it. The psychologist on there asked her what was it in her childhood that brought her to this point in her life to feel like she didn't deserve better. You deserve better. Your child deserves better. His wife deserves better. They also said how the men tell you what you need to hear...they know what you need to hear, so he's not real. He could also be saying the same things to another woman at the same time, or maybe not, you never know. Please don't feel sad...get out now and meet the man of your dreams. He's out there waiting for you, but you're not available to him yet. You deserve more. Your child deserves more.
Oprah . . country or rock?

Oprah factory farming
After the success of her puppymill show, she is now doing a show today on Tuesday on the where you meat comes from, from the farm to your table, should be pretty interesting, if you care, watch.
Am ordering where Oprah gets her cakes
Hubs ordered on line the most delicious chocolate cake for my b'day, unbelievably good, said he heard Oprah say she got her favorite hummingbird cake from this place. Although on the expensive side, will get another for dinner along with turkey and dressing hubs will cook, I will cook probably half ham, he will cook the collards and whatever else we think of. We are having the family/friend dinner again this year so guess I ought to finalize my thoughts on this. I have ordered all gifts on line this year so at least have those, no tree up yet, no gifts wrapped, oh me, oh my!! At least hubs and I will both be off the day prior to Christmas Day this year so we can work together on all.
But, now listen to this
the mother has been held in contempt of court 12 times so she is not an angel either. Things are not hunky-dory on her part either.
Listen to your PCP sm
See my message above re yoga breathing. I have a friend who has adult-onset ADD. Yes, it can happen - or maybe she had just found ways to compensate all these years until she was diagnosed.
You might want to check into it further....
Thank you...do you really think they will listen to me (sm)
in this situation? I assumed they were only there for people who are being physically abused. Which he did a few years ago, but has not done since. I should have left then...but of course I didn't.
I'm sure they would listen you...
dont know where you live but they also have laws regarding what you can keep on your property, i.e., live pigeons, etc. There is also a law on how many ducks you can have in possesion at one time, meaning the dead ducks in his freezer. You can get into some hefty fines for that though so think hard about it before you start down that road.
I did listen when I was a kid either.
My parents were just a bunch of dumb hard azes that all they wanted to do was prevent me from having any fun. Well, the older I got, the smarter they got.
I am now going through it with my kids and I sometimes wonder how they ever kept sane. LOL. I have a smart-alecky mom that likes to say "payback time."
Please listen up........JMO
I had a male family member that went to stay with cousin every summer. His parents would see attitude changes, a little anxiety maybe afterwards, but he was a high strung kid. Years later, around 21 years, he told his parents the cousin molested him. They even had this kid come to their home for summer. Their child never said anything because he felt because he was a family member, the family would be upset with him or cause family problems, even though his parents had always talked to their children about anyone, including family members, that may touch or act inappropriately toward them to come and tell them immediately. It was devistating to the parents. I feel so sorry for them. They can't stand to be around their own nephew but their child does not want anyone else to know. But because of his age, they don't know what else to do but not say anything because he has asked them not to.
I don't mean to sound negative, but I would have second thoughts now letting a male child go stay with another male child, especially one a little older. That really opened my eyes to just how things happen under the wire and you don't know, no matter how in tune you think you are with your child. Sorry to turn this into a worst case scenario but just be aware.
Listen, you.
I work for a large, world-class teaching hospital and I do pediatric endocrinology.
It's a very small percentage, but it's not nonexistent. Thinking that it only happens to someone else is one of the more stupid things I've heard in a long time.
Don't care for Phil or Oprah, never watch them. nm
s
I so don't agree w/you...Oprah built a school in...
you think she would have built the school for girls somewhere NEAR DARFUR where they are beyond poor. The people in S. Africa have lots and lots of $$ and as a matter of fact, I read about Oprah's school there, that the kids there had their CELL phones taken away and that the rule is the parents cannot visit unless they get written permission from her school. KIDS WHO HAVE CELLPHONES go to her school....HOW POOR ARE THESE CHILDREN, really....
get real please...........
Check Oprah for dog food recipes
She had a repeat show on this week about dog training and dog food recipes. She also had an author on, referencing his book on wholesome foods for pets. I would check her website out for sure. I know we have been scared for our dogs after the recent pet food scare. Our vet previously had recommended feeding our dogs plain hamburger and rice. They love it, but we don't feed them that all the time.
Mary winkler on Oprah today
Would like to have a discussion on this and other's thoughts, especially after viewing the show or before either way. Very interested to see what she has to say and where are her parents? I would so not want my children with those freaky in-laws.
Bummer. I'm an Oprah dork - been recording
DVR=digital video recorder. It's like a TIVO. I love it. It costs $10 extra per month but is so worth it! I usually save up a lot of Oprah shows, and when I'm feeling depressed or just bored I watch a bunch of them in one night - makes me happy! Anyway, I'm sure you could watch the episode online if you want. I'll try to post a link.
THere is HELP!! I watched Oprah and feel hopeful
I also went out and bought the book from Dr. Northrup...and some Flax Seed Oil with Omega 3.....I almost cried watching the show, everything they talked about, symptom-wise, I have...
I could not find it on Oprah website today. Where is

I've never watched Oprah so I wouldn't know

sounds like the Oprah latest saga. LOL.
not worthy of acknowledging.
Anyone else doing Oprah's Best Life series w/diet? sm
I am trying to follow Dr. Bob Green's advice, he said first 30 days of his diet are free, however, others have said, you have to give your credit card # so they can start to bill you after the first 30 days, I refuse to do that. I have been discontinuing the 6 bad foods, however, and doing more of his suggestions. Also, I loved the spirituality 101 workshop and it gave me some insight. I am not weighing myself, notice a little difference in my waistline, not much, but I do feel better and am hoping I can stick to it. Anyone else doing it? Perhaps we can support each other. They said to avoid "sabotage." My husband means well, but I have to keep reminding him and saying "NO" to some things he offers me. He means well, doesn't want me to get sick, but I'm trying very hard to stick to it. I could lose about 15 lbs., but it is sloooow, although this is the way to go, used supplements in the past and it plops right back on you when you least expect it? Anyone else???
This may sound jumbled, there is a transcript on oprah.com sm
Alcohol (at least for 30 days),soda (diet soda as well at first),transfats (read labels) in fried foods, particularly w/hydrogenated oils, white bread & rice (use 12 grain bread and brown rice), high-fat dairy (use 1% or zero milk). Food is a drug preventing you from living your best life. Food and overwork are the two most socially accepted addictions. Others such as alcohol, shopping, gambling, drugs, etc., same as food. Small meals, avoid too much at once. Watch the video on Spirituality 101 which is available free, transcript is free. Transcript on other topics available, such as sexual subjects, Suze Orman on money (transcript available). This is all free, all you have to do is join the website free. I have been following their advice for one week and feel so much better. We put everyone else on our "to do" list but US. Put yourself first. Try these free seminars, they are the best yet for me, I am truly helped by them. I was also addicted to "overwork." I have learned that my work does NOT define me, much as I would like to think so. Lots to learn here and think about. I'm so glad I had this "aha" experience. The spiritual workshop was absolutely wonderful, watched the whole thing and loved it. Downloaded Suze Orman's latest book for free.
yes. find a doc that will *listen* to you--sm
(good luck in that regard), but sounds like it could be a thyroid condition or maybe fibromyalgia, or like *hayseed* said, some type of autoimmune thing. good luck to you!
Let him sit down and listen to what you do and say try to transcribe it... (sm)
May be he will understand that these are legal documents and it is your responsibility to make it that way!! Sometimes they have to walk in your shoes or sit in your chair, so to speak, to understand. Hope this helps!!
I don't listen to music, but I have the TV SM
on in the room next to me. Can't miss my Golden Girls. It just relaxes me and I feel like someone is here and the mood is lightened if I am stressed.
Tell me how to listen to the news when
I get sooooo out of sorts listen to the idiotic, stup*d things people are doing each and every day. The stories I am hearing today- a mother gets on her daughters bus to have the child to fight for herself- with the mother holding the backpack for her child so "it would not get in her way." I think the mother charged with contributing to the deliquency in that case. The mother is telling the courts she is gonna teach her child how to defend herself?? What a crap! Another case today is mother who threw her 6 month old child at a police officer when the mother being investigated for having drugs in her trailer, another mother doused her 3 children with solvent, fires them up and the youngest child has died. Friends let a blind guy drive and he has wreck and dies- what in the hel* is happening with this news business. I cannot hear the news without all this insanity..
My veterinarian did not listen
I went this morning to get 2 more prescriptions for my oldest catt as she needs something for appetite stimulation and she has a thyroid problem (just like her mama.) I was talking with the front office and talking about the fact that she was still having issues with throwing up. Lord knows I have tried anything I could think of, changing the food several different ways- I would hand feed if it would help- and I brought up the subject of anything else over-the-counter I could use besides the Imodium they told me I could try. The front desk then tells me the Imodium not for problems with throwing up but soft stools?? They then went back to read on her chart where veterinarian had made note of my saying soft stools. This NEVER happened. I have not had a problem with those. You know, from the vets to your regular physicians, these people are just NOT listening. I called yesterday in fact to reorder her medications so would not have to wait and you guessed it, not ready when I got there and still had to wait. Why, why - This is a big problem and not just with animal doctors, with regular physicians.
Don't listen to that one mean poster (sm)
That is so sweet - don't listen to these people. If he was 12 I might be concerned. I lay in the bed at night with my 10 year old and read to him every night. He thinks I'm his mom, that's all. Your son will get through this. It is just a phase I'm sure.
