Businesses refusing to include Christmas in advertising.
What? No Christmas? I just don't get it. For years, businesses have advertised Christmas, but now, ewww, don't even THINK of saying the word, ***CHRISTMAS***, for you might get THAT LOOK from someone who is ewwwww offended. Offended? Give me a break! I am supposed to accept every other religious nuance with open arms, but if I say MERRY CHRISTMAS these days, I get a very negative knee jerk response. I'm sick of it. So, I'm doing something about it, just like I did last year. So, here goes...
TARGET - you're IN. I'll shop at your store because you are including Christmas in your advertising.
WALMART - you're OUT. Not only are you not advertising Christmas, your snarky response to my email simply questioning your intentions really turned me off . I also won't be shopping at your other company SAM'S CLUB either! UPDATE - WALMART HAS ANNOUNCED 11/9 THAT THEY WILL BE INCLUDING CHRISTMAS IN THEIR ADVERTISING AND ADMIT THAT THEY MADE A MISTAKE. SEE LINK HERE AND BELOW! http://tinyurl.com/yd9gx9
KOHL'S - You're IN. The letter you sent was very respectful and I appreciate that you will be including Christmas in your advertising.
SEARS - You're OUT. Kwanzaa? You actually used Kwanzaa as a reason for not advertising Christmas? Diverse cultures? Afraid you're going to offend other religious beliefs? Do you have a CLUE that Christianity is the NUMBER 1 religious belief system in America?
DILLARDS - You're IN. Discover Christmas. Discover Dillards. Good job.
LOWE'S - You're IN. Glad you smartened up and changed your sign from Holiday Trees to Christmas Trees...DUH!
MACY'S - You're IN. Thank you for allowing your employees to now say Merry Christmas and for placing advertisements in your stores, television, online, and print ads.
VICTORIA'S SECRET - You're IN. Christmas trees and music in your stores? What a novel concept. Kudos.
As of this writing, other stores as of last year not advertising Christmas are Kroger, Dell, Office Max, Walgreens, Staples, and J.C. Penney. I'm doing research to find out if they've smartened up and changed their position. I will post as I find out more information.
What it all comes down to, folks, is that these businesses CAN advertise Christmas. Christmas was here FIRST, but fat cat corporations are trying to lump all religious holidays together into one even though they don't fall on December 25! Does any of this make sense? People generally don't buy Thanksgiving gifts, but Thanksgiving is advertised. Hmmm. Interesting concept, isn't it?
Some readers may not like what I have to say and to them, I say...oh well. I believe in what I believe. In my opinion, there should be no reason to be offended by Christmas. If you celebrate a holiday other than Christmas, when it rolls around, celebrate it will a full heart! I sure am!
quirky decorations
Yeah...inside the house....A jackelope....a jack rabbit head with small deer antlers on it given to me by my sister I'm not one for dead things on the wall, but it does crack everyone up who sees it....Now folks reallly get scared when the 6 foot iguana (they thought was stuffed on the mantle) decides to start running around.
I remember those plastic decorations
being sold as fundraisers at our school. I think it was the Band Boosters. I'm in East Central Indiana, BTW.
Christmas Tree & Decorations
We always try to have the tree lit up and the decorations out on display by Thanksgiving day. I think having a fake tree makes that possible.
Do you set a deadline to have the tree up and decorated by Thanksgiving week? If not, when do you try to have it finished?
Christmas lights and decorations up after New Year's!
We always take ours down New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Our neighbors still have theirs out (lawn decorations and everything) and up until just a week ago they were still turning them on at night! Ugh! It also bugs me when people leave the Christmas lights on their houses year-round. I love the holidays and I love having my Christmas stuff out, but when the holidays are over, so are my decorations!
Your decorations sound great. He has no business telling...
you how to live or how to decorate. Comparing Halloween decorations to the Amish shootings is more bizarre than your decorations could be. I would definitely not take it down. Just because he does not celebrate Halloween is no reason to ruin yours.
Installing pot lots over the mantle and just changing the decorations out can do

I found them! Those funky 1970s plastic decorations
It was driving me absolutely nuts and I finally found out what they are called! Google or do a search on E-Bay for 'Melted plastic popcorn decorations' and see what you find! I'm gonna try and make a bid for one or two because after seeing that one in 'MT of Oz' picture there, I suddenly felt this NEED to have one again!
Thanks for reviving happy memories MT of Oz!!
You ARE judging -- judging businesses open and
It IS judgementalism at it's finest.
You think because someone doesn't agree with YOUR views, that THEY should have to work on that day, simply because of views.
You think that because someone might celebrate Christmas on Dec 20 due to family/schedule issues, that THEY shouldn't be able to live a normal life on Dec 25.
Very, very judgemental and extremely limited in perspective.
I understand you are Pentecostal. I'm more than familiar with that denomination. It has nothing to do with any of the topics you state. It just makes a bigger emphasis in my mind of WHY you think like you do. Sad.
I hope you have a good day. I'm thankful I am not like you. You don't make me want to be in any way. How's that for being an example and drawing others to Him? You're repelling, not drawing.
Go have yourself a great religious day.
