I must have missed your post.
OP, I don't know anything about the Cricut either; I second the 2peas suggestion, that's a great resource. Lots of ideas and interaction over there.
When you say scrapbook programs, you mean like digital scrapbooking? 2peas actually has a whole digital section that's pretty informative. They recommend Photoshop, which apparently you can download a version of for a 30-day trial for free before buying. It's pretty interesting. I'm more interested in digital assisted scrapbooking myself, maybe just doing a few elements here and there on the computer and them combining them the old-fashioned way. I just like cutting paper. ;)
Now, if you mean photo organization software, I use the Creative Memories Memory Manager software and it's wonderful for organizing and light photo editing. You can sort pictures into virtual boxes and albums so you can go back later and retrieve to print and stuff. Plus you can back up onto CDs, disks, or a portable hard drive for safekeeping.

I started this year scrapbooking. I am putting togethr a book for my daughter who just graduated from college. It has taken me over 6 months but I am getting there. My sister who has done it for 4 years has all the tools that comes out. I heard talk about the ciruit tool but I have no experiene with it. Scrapbooking can be very expensive I see. I have bought a lot of stuff off of ebay. You just have to be careful. Sometimes the shippinng is more than the product. Glad there are some MTs that scrapbook.

Scrapbook party
I did a scrapbook party for 4th grade. The girls had to bring two pictures of themselves. They would decorate two 5x7 pages, one they got to keep and the other with a special happy birthday message for my daughter to keep in a scrapbook. She still loves having that and she is in 10th grade.
Need help with scrapbook project sm
I am only familiar with 8-1/2 x 11 documents in Word. I have no scrapbooking experience at all. What I would like to do for an important birthday of a teen is to insert some 3 x 5 cards in album sleeves where I will be inserting old pictures. The cards would explain some family history, etc. I don't want it to look cheesy and I have seen scrapbook "kits" which I know I would mess up. Just knowing how to make up the 3 x 5 cards in "Word" would help. I am going through the old photos now and birthday invitations, etc., any suggestions? I have already purchased the album with a nice cloth cover and 3 picture slots per page. Is there a way in "Word" to make the card-sized text. Have tried handwriting but husband states it's hard to read my writing. This hopefully will be an "heirloom" of some sorts (or perhaps they'll laugh at it and toss it). It's for a 17 YO male. TIA
