It's not "her money to spend as she pleases." It's my money, your money, his money, her money. O better put up or shut up and that means his family too. No more big talk about the deficit, fiscal responsbility, and redistribution of wealth when when his wife is walking around in designer duds. Am I the only person that sees hypocrisy in that?

I, for one, cannot tell designer shoes or clothes unless the designer's label is on the product. I, however, do know ugly when I see it and those shoes are fugly!
Lucky for me I live in the rural midwest. Personally, I don't care about designer shoes
or pedicures, etc. The average person doesn't think about those things and I could care less what "Michelle" is wearing or who she is wearing or where she shops or if she has sleeves or doesn't have sleeves. I don't give a rats patootie about any of the superficial crapola that is the Obamas. Good God, people, this country is going to heck in a handbasket, the unemployment rate is rising, and we are talking about Michelle Obama's ugly, way overpriced shoes!

Don't be mad, but foot size might have something to do with it. I'm a 7 1/2 shoe size, and I suspect a foot much bigger than that might be a bit wide to easily hit the right pedal every time. Remove the shoe and your foot is narrower and you can feel the controls and not hit the wrong one. Just a guess because I've heard guys have the worst time with the pedal.

husband comes home from work? I talk on the phone whether my husband is home from work or not. If someone calls I do not think that I am being rude if I talk to them. Now some people won't talk on the phone if their husband is at home. They say it is taking away time from them being with each other. Different strokes for different folks I guess. My husband feels the same way I do. He says why should we sit here and be so stuck up each others a$$ that we don't talk on the phone to a friend?

Designer Dogs
Oh, gees, don't get me started on designer dogs! Those who breed them are only out for as much money as the public will shell out! Come on, a poodle and a golden who is advertised as a gooldendoodle is a MIX BREED! Those who breed them (and they are on par with back-yard breeders and puppy millers and I refuse to call them breeders!) are frauds. They say the "best from both breeds will come out." This is not true! There have been more gooldendoodles who have temperament problems, forget their coat! Bad news here trying to groom them. Sure, they look cute as pups.
I have goldens and Shelties. I show them, but I don't breed them....I leave that up to those who are more knowledgeable in which dog and biiitch lines would merge the best. I don't want to create a structural/temperament/health issue that will be hard to eliminate as it takes soooo long to bred them out.
You'll find the majority of designer dogs go for much more than a purebred that's bought from a reputable breeder. AND, that breeder, if reputable, will have health clearances, you'll have to sign a contract which covers your dog, you, and the breeder, and the breeder will take the dog back if either you don't like the dog, you move, or whatever. So why pay $300 to $3000 for a mixed breed, especially when you have no idea how they will look when they grow up? Or, what kind of health or temperamental issues may crop up between the two breeds?
OK, off my pedestal.....can you tell I'm passionate about keeping pure breeds pure?
Just to say one more thing.....I am not anit-mix! Now way!! Just don't taunt that mix as a "breed" and charge mucho money for it! have had many, many mixes in my life. I even obtained a CD (mixed breed) with Casie and she was also a Therapy Dog. Boy, could she ever fish out food that the patients stashed, or hid, in their wheelchairs!!

An unknown designer has been recognized and compensated for his/her work of how many years they were not paid or recognized. Now box stores will see the shoes for $10 bucks to people like you, thus employing millions and millions of people all over the world.

Now they unfortunately call 'em designer dogs...
but they're really just muts. They are all lhasa-poo's. It all began when we lived in a townhouse in the city of Lowell, MA. I really wanted a dog but they (the condo association) had a weight restriction of 40 pounds. So, we were out for a Sunday drive one day and happened upon this lady walking the cutest little dog. She told us where she got it and we drove right to the kennel that day. They had one puppy left (our Winston) and we snatched him up right on the spot.
He's getting mighty old and to help the hurt of his eventual passing not be as bad, I had the bright idea to get his replacement another lhasa-poo( a couple of years ago (Patton). Well, the young whipper snapper was constantly pestering poor old Winston, so I said, "Hey, we need to get him a playmate." Enter the third little guy, "Sherman." Also a lhasa-poo. So there ya have it.
The oldster is still with us...blind, toothless, and kinda stinky, but it's one big happy family of little portable dogs and I don't think I'll ever get a big dog just because I like the little lap dogs. They are totally gay though---little puffs of yappiness.

in my case it was "we", mainly him, spent way more than we make. Everytime one of his cards got a large balance (he never looked at the statements and I pay the bills) I would tranfer it over to one of my cards, which again he never looked at, and I had a P.O. Box for--so in my case it was very, very easy to do, and with paperless statements today even easier. We had a lot of things happen in our life over the past 4 years which made the money/credit card issue much worse, easily added $40K onto it (at $89K now)--family death, serious child illness--still dealing with that some--, job loss on my part, private school tuition ($12K a year---no longer go there for the last 2 years), inability to pay bills and heavily borrowed on cards----d-u-m-b I know. So don't be so quick to judge, it is not always so black and white. Yes I did get a few things I should not have, but I know during some of this time I was depressed though not horribly so but enough so as to buy a few things I never should have, but for 95% of it it was my DH never denying himself anything (though he would have if he'd known, and now he is --granted not too happy about it---one tiny concession he has made is only 9 beers a day, down from 12, so maybe he can get 3 days out of a case of beer instead of 2.) So my days of robbing Peter to pay Paul are over. We plan to have an open book when it comes to finances once his are paid off, and mine are enrolled with a debt management plan--- then only use his cards for gas, and work stuff basically--I won't have any as they will all get destroyed and cancelled in the DMP, and will use my debit card for everything --which I do now anyway, so it won't be a huge change for me. I don't think she is lamenting, just realizing what a horrid mess she has to deal with, it is hard, and I have to deal with my DHs comments for years to come, he did a few zingers last night. I will be okay though and have to pay the piper, it is worth it not having to go through a nasty divorce and custody fight as I know it would not have been pretty.

So excited, new digs at home, anyone ever have a designer to give advice on how to place furniture?
I am just so excited can hardly type. I am getting new tile throughout my home, well the living room/dining room big room and then slate for my master bath and carpeting for my master bedroom. My question is has anyone ever had a designer or room coordinator may be the name to come to their home and tell them how to arrange furniture and items in their room? I have never been satisfied with my living room. I have 2 full size leather sofas, an oversized chair, several floor lamps and I have end tables with wrought iron legs. I have some decorations but if you have this done do they want you to buy other things in case you need to put more color in the room, say for instance a throw, new floral arrangement, and the like. Sure would like to hear from anyone who has gone through this. All this tile work starting next week and should last about a week and a half.

Don't forget, the government is supposed to be owned by us, US citizens. They have gotten so giddy with power, they have forgotten that. Why else do they write their own paychecks, given themselves raises, and can continue to draw HUGE incomes after they leave office for the rest of their lives, including HUGE incomes for their wives long after they are dead, free healthcare, all the perks. These are public officials. Once they are out of office, they're on their own. We have let them take control of OUR government. It's up to us to take it back. You have a phone, e-mail, petitions.......you get the message across to them. Don't wait for others to do it for you.

and heck, even students arm themselves, we wouldn't be sending lambs to the slaughter like that. They would've at least had a fighting chance. If I'm going to die, give me the chance to die while fighting to protect myself and others. Why should the criminals be the only ones who can arm themselves? This is a very heated topic 'round these parts where it seems they want to take our right to protect ourselves away at every corner.
Didn't one of our fellow MTs on this board here have a daughter who got into some serious doo-doo at her school for having pepper spray on her keychain? Explain to me how THAT makes sense to punish a kid, or parent, for wanting to give them a fighting chance and protecting themselves.

the whole school would be given notice of being punished? Think about it. I am sure and anyone who does this type of work knows there are products out there to help a gaseous distention. My goodness. My DIA parapro here in Georgia and she tells me when her classroom children do things like this and she tells them to say excuse me - they tell her their parents don't mind. You all need to research this a little and I am sure you would be surprised as to whether medically related or attention getting actions.
You are not responsible for others
especially in an age group like this, just as you are not responsible for your parents. When you are grown, responsible for your own actions. Saying this did not have to happen- your life is written before you are born and no matter, that is already decided. This is the way it was supposed to be or never would have happened. I am not saying this is horrible situation but just the way these lives were supposed to start and if not this way, another way but I believe things are going to happen like your whole life is already planned out. Make plans but does not matter.
There are a lot of responsible and
a lot of irresponsible 15 year olds out there. In our state you can't get a license until you are at least16 and 3 months and then after driver's ed and behind the wheel. At 15 my son was definitely responsible enough. My daughter will be 15 in January and I don't know if I would say the same about her. You are the parent and you know your child and what they can and can't handle.

Tell him you think he needs to go to be observed a little while at the mental ward at the hospital. If he will not work and will not go get welfare, that is his problem, not yours. He should not expect you to take care of him if he won't even apply for welfare - anyone can fill out the paperwork for that, good grief. I think I would have to tell him off really well...or seriously tell him that since he won't do anything at all to take care of himself, he needs to go to a nursing home or mental hospital. Tell him you will have him committed.

You're absolutely right. They have some identifiable information on file about citizens, so why would they need to change anything and put more restrictions in place? I'm more confused as to why US citizens don't ask why? If they've got everything on us, then what could possibly be the reason to do this?

No matter how responsible you are
and how much time you spend with them, you cannot be there 24-7 to supervise them. That is completely unrealistic. Can we take them to the doctor, to the store, to the kids' school? Come on now.
There is a responsible way to crate an animal. No matter how much you train them, my labs still would have eaten anything in site for a certain period of time. There is no way I would leave them unattended to run my errands and chance them getting into something that could harm them. Regardless of the material objects as you call them, they could get hurt.
Also, a child does need a crib and a playpen. To say that those are used so that you do not have to supervise your kids is ridiculous. Everyone has to go to the restroom at some point. Should we carry them everywhere or perhaps let them run around so they can get into something that would harm them until we finish our business? Wow....
I believe a pediatrician would even tell you that those are necessary in raising a healthy child, and I am not talking about someone who puts their kids in a playpen all day instead of spending time with them either.

no, it is not all a matter of responsible
ownership. There have been very loving responsible owners themselves attacked by their own dogs. A popular dog breed can be overbred indiscriminately and ruined. Unfortuntately this breed is too unpredictable. I've always been around animals, large and small and have both now. I would never have a pit bull. I visit my friend less often now who now has one, and won't get out of the car if it is loose. Not to mention that these dogs don't just bite, which would be bad enough, they instinctively go for the kill. I haven't read the link you provided yet, but do NOT believe that breed-specific legislation is stupid. This particular bill may be over the top, but breed-specific laws are brought on by a need, and wouldn't get off the ground without plenty of facts on record to support it.

Their pitbull to wander around public. That is why we have attacks. Owners should be responsible and keep them as well as any dog in a fenced in yard. Or if out in public on a leash. Mine will never be wandering around in public on its own. That is totally irresponsible. If I saw a pitbull out in public I would be cautious myself.

By having feedback like I got from this site, gave me an understanding of how to approach this sorta awkward situation. You just have people out there that seem to thrive on what they perceive to be right and what is the actual truth.
Maybe then the government should ban Coca Cola and Pepsi from
producing their product, for as we all know, sugar causes teeth decay. And how about caffeine. Look at all the deliterious efforts that are a result of ingesting that! And how about alcohol. Maybe the government could shut down all restaurant and liquor stores and set us back to the days of prohibition, when, even though imany highly intelligent people STILL found a way to produce it to drink it to excess or not. Tobacco -- we all know it's not good for use, by Phillip Morris, et all still keeps cropping the tobacco field, and being taxed by the government. If anything, that is a perfect example of why the government should make it illegal to sell tobacco, but they dont, because the taxes they place on it are astronimal and keep all the workers "for the people" with cash in their pockets...The point is our freedom of choice is being decided by those other than ourselves, and with that, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY DISAGREE.

I feel sorry for people who live off the government
I have raised 2 kids that did not have to do without and on my own. I was a divorced woman and did not, thank goodness, have to rely on anyone or anything else. I am much stronger than that.
Yes. Make your teenager responsible for as much as she can pay for.
and maybe a little more. Don't make it easy. Make sure that she has to work a little (not so much that grades suffers), has to budget, and plan and take the responsibility of driving seriously. This is more than likely the most dangerous thing your child has done so far her life. Make sure she understands that. It's not a social thing, a drive-around-with-your-friends thing. Preparing a young person for driving responsibilities is life and death.
Unfortunately, in the last three yeas, I've been to three funerals for teenage drivers -- all of whom were out of control in every aspect of their lives. Our state does not allow children to become licensed drivers until age 16-1/2. Our house rule was age 17. We did pay for the driver's ed, because it was pricey, our sons truly could not afford it, and we wanted our boys to have ever chance to learn to drive safely. Even though we taught them ourselves, as well, sometimes kids hear better what total strangers say to them! Also, I had a rule during permit driving sessions with my boys. They were never allowed to argue with me while we drove together. I was the teacher. I knew more than them. No arguing over anything, or else I terminated the lesson, car was pulled over, I drove home and that was the end until I felt we were ready for another driving lesson. That rule drove home how serious a responsibility driving is. I only had to do it once to one of my sons.
My oldest was lucky enough to inherit is grandfather's pristine 1991 Toyota (38,000 original miles) when pop-pop no longer could drive. It's a decent, dependable car. My son pays for repairs and gas. We pay for the insurance at this point, simply because we live in a big eastern city, and insurance is sky high. But, our son is also paying his own college tuition, so I have no problem helping him out with the insurance on his car.
This is a big deal. Make sure your daughter grasps the gravity of the responsibility. Don't argue with her about anything. These decisions have to be made by the parents, because it's a health and safety issue for your daughter and everyone else on the road with her.
