Now I know why I went on all those exotic beach trips

when I was younger. My father used to fuss and fuss at me- I was traveling to the Carribean, Mexico, etc and he wondered why did I not visit the good ole USA. Now if only he were still here I could tell him. Now I am into visiting places that do not have the beach included- so glad I did those in my earlier years- did not mind showing those legs then!

no, not an exotic cat
having been found in a field, I think, he was just used to his freedom. He had to hunt. He also brought me a dead bat one day. He was so proud of himself but I would not let either of them in the house. I was afraid the bat may have had rabies. Of course, the cat had been vaccinated, etc.
BTW - you notice that our names are Peace and Love. I had a Greek friend whose name was Zoe.
Very exotic looking.
Almost like she has some Pharoh hound or greyhound with shepherd.
Beach or mountains? Beach. Chinese or BBQ?

Ck out the flooring stores/depts. Laminate made to look like all kinds of exotic woods, stone,

I have several trips planned
I am going to Washington with a group in September. They are also planning a trip either to Italy or Alaska, either would be AOK with me. I told hubby if he wants to take a 3-4 day trip to Vegas we could do that and finally if the Italy/Alaska trip fell through, I would go to the Canadian Rockies myself meeting up to tour with a group. I love traveling!!!
Two trips this year...sm
Going to see my best friend in Oklahoma City in July (son will be at church came in the same area at that time). In November, we will be going to a family reunion in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Nothing really big, since money is so tight right now. Shoot, I'm hoping we will have enough to go on those two road trips.

I actually agree with you on that. I have taken trips by plane and bus alone and met really
interesting people actually more interesting than the people I go with sometimes. I just have never driven alone somewhere with no one to talk to on the road, etc. Just wondering about that part of it.
Yes...he tells me he is on fishing trips and that (sm)
there is no cell service there, so I can't call him, or reach him even if there was an emergency. And he does not call to check on us either.
garden, fewer trips to the store - sm
Watching the sale papers for really good deals and planning meals around those. Safeway and Albertsons usually have a few 10 for $10 sales every week. I will max out those sales on a couple items if we use a lot of them.
Trying to stretch a gallon of milk is getting more expensive too. Powdered milk is skyrocketing along with everything else but it still does make a gallon last a little longer so will keep doing that. We go through at least a gallon a day, sometimes more.
Telling the kids that I am not the local taxi service for their friends and cannot provide them transportation here and there all the time. My own kids will have to work harder to combine their schedules to cut back on needless trips too.
If one is one place and another somewhere else, I will only drop off or pick up ONCE.
Used to be that the kids would have me running 4-5 trips a day. No more. If they can't leave or be picked up at the same time, too bad.
Yes - weekend camping trips much closer to home. nm

Gas prices hinder my trips, nope, got 3 planned for this year
Had planned 1 by air about 3 months ago and 2 others by chartered bus the end of the year so nope, prices are not hindering my traveling.
Heck no!! In fact just bought a GMC Yukon Denali to haul the family around in for trips.

Beach
Just keep a sharp eye on the children in the ocean with the boogie boards. The ocean current is strong. I found this out when we went to Myrtle Beach and my 10-year-old was on an inflatable raft. The current carried her rather far. It was a good thing my husband could swim. It happened so quickly but everything turned out all right.

Take the kids to Assateague Island, only a short way from Ocean City. There is a beach for day use and they might see the wild ponies keeping cool by the ocean. Just spent last week there.
On the beach...
in the cold wind. lol Poor planning for the time of year but I have beautiful pictures at sunset. :)
Ft. Lauderdale Beach, FL
Boynton Beach here! nm

South Beach here.
I started South Beach just today since the New Year fell in the middle of the week. My husband and I have done it before and it really works pretty much effortlessly. I am working two jobs from 8:00 - 1:30 (Real Estate) and my transcription job from 2:00 - 10:30, so this seems to be the only way to lose weight for me given the fact that I have no free time or energy to exercise. We did it before last spring and the weight loss is quick and pretty painless once you get over the initial carb withdrawal. I would love some support and could offer some as well. You can e-mail me directly at mandie573@yahoo.com. Thanks and good luck.
Definitely Navarre Beach, FL
The most gorgeous, and well-kept secret in FL. It is in the pan handle, about 35 miles W of Destin, and about 25 miles E of Pensacola Beach. All of these beaches are beautiful, white sands. Navarre is less traveled, and less busy. My husband and I went with my sis and fam last year, which is where he proposed to me, then this year on 07/07/07 we were married beachside. It is wonderful. I just keyed in Navarre Beach search, and many offers for condos came up. We stayed at the Inn at Summer Wind, a wonderful high-rise condo equipped with everything, If laying around on the beach and/or having coffee on your balcony overlooking the water is your cup o tea, this is the place for you! It is very relaxing. Then, you can cross the bridge back to mainland (Navarre is a small island), and go to the new Superwalmart, to specialty shops, or on down the road either way to frequent other beaches/restaurants, and there is an outlet mall down near Destin that was cool. Just an awesome place to to. We went in June in 06 and July 07, and the water and weather were perfect. In fact, 07/07/07 was the most pretty day down there this year!!! Good luck deciding, but in my exp. It was well worth it. July is the on-season, and we paid around $1300 for 6 nights in the condo, that slept 6 (king BR, bunk beds made in the wall (hubbies bed if he don't behave) and couch is a pullout. I think starting in mid Aug. or so it is about 1/2 that. I have to go in the summer, though, because of the kids and teacher hubby. Good luck again!!
Does anyone know about Myrtle Beach, SC? SM
I don't mean for a vacation; I mean as far as living there. Any information will be most appreciated.
Thank you.
Pebble Beach
Is in Monterey, California.
Myrtle Beach
I would love to live there. . Good luck to you. . I think you are very brave. .
it's about 2 miles from the beach
here on the West Coast of Michigan in Muskegon. Bought the house from a man who was a nut and who had bought it in foreclosure for 17K. Huge yard, 100 x 100 feet, all fenced. Two bedrooms, one bath, just over 800 square feet (pretty small). All new siding, all new triple-pane windows, new furnace, new fridge, new hot water heater, new stove (found the receipt, $1700 for the set), and a totally re-done kitchen. It's in the inner city, I call it my "little house in the hood." Taxes are about $900 a year. The only repairs we needed to make were to the plumbing, of which there was none, and I mean none. So, my nephew and I spent just over $200 and learned how to plumb -- all connected and flowing, PVC is my new best friend.
There's tons of houses even cheaper than this here, just not the best neighborhoods, but you can houses anywhere from 2 to 5 to 20 grand as fixer-uppers. I take my child to school of choice out of district, cuz I wanted him to go to school where I went; it's only a 5-mile drive. Gotta love it, good enough for now.
Myrtle Beach
I have been to Myrtle Beach many times and I think it would be an awesome place to live. . Allyson is beautiful - she is lucky to have an aunt who is willing to consider making such a big change to be closer to her.
Thanks, Cranky Beach
Thanks very much for the information. I'm in Alabama. A co-worker has told me yes, you can apply for unemployment even if fired, but there's a penalty; this I don't really understand -- is it one-time or every month? Not sure. Since I had never done hospital work before, I'm in a training status, so the goals and deadlines were explained at the time of my hire. At the time, it didn't sound too hard to achieve, but these Indian doctors give me fits. (I can do the good 'ol boys all day. Heard that accent all my life! ) I have a few samples, and they help some, but not enough, apparently. Plus, I'm so nervous, I make dumb mistakes. Truth be told, I don't like it there and felt I had made a mistake accepting this job by the second month. The hospital platform is cumbersome and slow and the people aren't exactly friendly, either. I know a lot of this is my fault--I just don't fit in and don't ask questions when I should, rather just slog through and try to figure problems out myself.
39 and snowing in Virginia Beach
Absolutely beautiful watching the snow fall and then melt as soon as it hits the ground!
I respect your opinion, but that beach is SM
very very small. During the week would be no problem, but forget about weekends.
Favorite South Florida beaches for me are 15th beach on South Beach, (but you have to have a great body! :)) and Hollywood Beach. That really is a lovely beach. Kind of cheesy boardwalk, but great beach.
North Fla, St. Augustine beach.
Sanibel Island also have really nice beach, but watch out for sand flies and red tide.
Lived right at the beach before, hated it

10 yrs ago on Miami Beach thru to Broward...

The beach in my hometown in Florida (sm)
I would buy a cheesy little beach cottage and paint it tacky colors and have lots of plants outside and open my own little herbal remedies shop! Haha! That's what I want to do when I'm old and retired!
Born and raised in Ewa Beach,
have not been home in almost 21 years. I think I like Bermuda better.
Come to SoFla. Going to the beach on Sunday;

I would love to but the nearest beach

We usually head on over to Coco Beach
or Daytona/Ormond Beach area. Not too far of a drive, maybe 1 hr. We usually go off season when it's less crowded too. Public beach with changing areas and toll parking, etc.
How about beach-chair position?
Doncha know the patient wishes they were really in a chair on the beach instead of in the operating room.

We're off to the beach and need some ideas!
I think I have most of my bases covered, but just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas for the trip. We're off to Ocean City MD for the fireworks - woohoo!
I have 3 boys, ages 10, 7 and 5. We figure it'll take about 6-8 hours to get there, depending on stops. We have a DVD player for the kids and they each have a portable video game to take. I think I have the drive down pretty well covered, but if you have anything to add, feel free.
At the beach -- we borrowed boogie boards from a friend for each of them to try. I'm very nervous about the ocean -- it just scares me, always has. We also got some sand toys for building castles. Any other suggestions here? I'm afraid 1 or 2 won't like the boogie board thing and get bored very easily with the sand toys.
We're also planning our restaurants for each night and the boardwalk. Anyone else know of anything at OC, MD that was really great for kids? Hubs and I have been there without the kids last summer, but really just enjoyed eating out and walking the boardwalk. I don't think my kids will enjoy the boardwalk as much, and I don't want to hang out at the arcade/amusement park every night. We usually vacation at resort towns - like Disney and Dollywood - where there's tons of stuff to do right in front of you.
Just looking for suggestions!
my friends can watch my kid and I at the beach

Anyone been to a wedding on the beach in Hawaii? Need help w/ MOB dress.
I have already posted this on another board, but I need all the suggestions I can get, and I appreciate any and all help.
My friend has asked me to help her shop for a mother of the bride dress. She really has no idea what she wants to look for, and she has done no looking on her own. We are going to go shopping not this weekend but next. The bride said for her to just pick out a simple dress. The wedding is mid March, on the beach, and they say the temperature is 70s-80s year round there (I wouldn't have known this myself LOL). I don't know the colors they are using yet, but I'm sure she does by this time.
What kind of style should we look for? MOB is 48 years old, slightly overweight but not terribly so, and relatively conservative. Any suggestions? Thanks! Y'all seem to have great taste.
Flagler Beach, a little south of St. Augustine
Hollywood Beach boardwalk cheesy!!! LOL
I absolutely love Hollywood Bch at night. This was about 10 years ago, but I remember walking on that beach road with the little huts/bars/seafood snackeries. A draft for $1. Those were the days!
Sanibel is nice, but IMO east coast is much nicer.
Bahia Honda is BY FAR the best beach. Small, yes, but really nice. And crampground is SO nice. Secluded, etc., at least when I went zillions of years ago.
I'm in N. Cent. FL now. Miss the beaches, although I'm pretty close to St.
Augustine. However, do NOT miss the congestion, traffic, and HEAT.
I love it up here :-)
Already out. May 18th was last day. Long Beach, Mississippi
:-)
I live near Ft. Lauderdale Beach, my homeowners
I bought the condo for just under $300,000 (now worth close to $400,000), 1500 S.F., and across the street from the beach...The only thing that came down, per Governor Charlie Christ, just recently was the property taxes come down for this next year by $500. Property taxes, however, are SKY HIGH - Close to $5000/annually!.
HTH (hope that helps) :)
