Actually, I never even thought about using fresh
chicken (the girl who gave me the recipe said to use the canned chicken undrained). It probably would be even better with the fresh chicken and some of the broth. I was just passing on what was a very good recipe. Anyway, have a good day!
Consider using fresh herbs. So fresh
and spring-y. :oD
I love fresh sage with pork. I especially love pork chops. Great, now I'm hungry.
Carrots.
Both my dogs adore carrots. Makes a great snack, cleans the teeth. Especially good for the one who acts ravenous all the time but would get pudgy if I let her.
carrots
My vet also recommended carrots but warned me that most dogs won't eat them. Fortunately my dog loves them more than raw hides. I just wash them off and break them in half or thirds.
roasted carrots
Preheat oven to 400
Place baby carrots on a cookie sheet (one with sides), drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper
Roast in hot oven until fork tender...about 30-40 minutes...yummy and easy!
Oh that's right! Carrots have sugar don't they? sm
Peas do too, another of my favorites right along with the oranges, bananas and grapes I have in the fridge. Sigh. Guess I had better get a book on low sugar cooking since I will be taking high doses of corticosteroids again real soon. That will certainly send my glucose into orbit.
use frozen carrots in soups/stews/roast
I always use frozen carrots and celery and onions in my soups, stews, roasts, gravy, etc. You can either thaw them in the fridge (probably the upper part of yours) or in the microwave before throwing into the pot...otherwise start them at the beginnig of the recipe so they have a chance to get a head start over everything else and thaw that way. freezing veggies is a great way to 'use' them before they go bad. we don't eat a whole bundle of carrots or celery before the go bad so when i know they are getting close i chop them all up and freeze them. same with bananas for banana bread and the fixings for salsa. :)
Mix in some spinach, kale, or broccoli to cut the effect of carrots on your blood

Then you might want to try some fresh stuff.
I just made a turkey breast today that was very tasty. In a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, I chopped up some fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, and a couple cloves of crushed garlic. Then, I just rubbed that onto the (skinless) turkey breast.
I oven-roasted that with some vegetables, but you could put that on chicken breasts and bake or grill them. They'd be good either way.
Good luck!
Thank you for the breath of fresh air
and the very nice comment to both of us. We really have hurt no one and have found someone who mutually shares the love of animals, as I am sure so many of you do. I spoke just last week to a lovely MT who has a little Pekinese named Sophie. We had a great conversation about that. With an elderly very ill parent this board has given me something to focus on and relieve some fear and tension. Thanks again. You comments are truly appreciated.
fresh towels
I use Gain detergent, the regular kind. Has a really nice smell. We live by ocean so our towels get musty smelling quite easily.
used to eat fresh dough but...sm
Was warned not to do this or let kids do it if the dough contained egg, very bad to eat raw, so cut out the licking of the spoon. I know most cookies don't have egg, but we were addicted to all batter. No longer lick the spoons when done.
Fresh coconut!
I had a hankerin for a coconut a few weeks ago so I bought one. Hadn't had one since I was a kid. I drilled the holes in the 'eyes' and drank the coconut juice inside. Then I pryed out the meat, meticulously peeled the brown junk off it with a knife, and ate a whole bunch. Okay, my husband and I both at the whole thing in one sitting it was sooooo yummy! The next day...well, all I'm gonna say is that I am thankful we have 2 bathrooms and were fully stocked on TP. We weren't sick mind you, just incredibly cleaned out. The coconut juice, which only I drank, acted like a diuretic and I think I peed every hour on the hour--and incredible amount each time at that.
I have chronic constipation too because I hate to drink water. I tend to stay borderline dehydrated myself. The chemical laxatives just plain wreak havoc and are very painful and inconvenient to put it nicely. I'd go with better diet, water, and fruits before I'd go with pills if at all possible. Hope she feels better soon!
me too! breath of fresh air.
except for maybe the typo-gestapo. but even that has faded.
BREATH OF FRESH AIR
I think MTStars is Breath of Fresh Air after change in administration. This thread is staying on board is proof of it. MTStars was personal forum rather public board beofre.
I was sick of HER, deleting every other thread and banning those who expressed their opinions that wasn't acceptable for her.
Fresh lettuce from the garden!
Luv that stuff. Your sammy sounds delicious! Yummmm... TX for sharing...

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in or dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Their bright eyes are intent. Their eager body quivers. Suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster. You have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...
after BR there are many Fresh Start programs.

Don't forget the fresh stuff!
All suggestions posted area great. Don't forget to add in fresh stuff. A head of iceberg lettuce is pretty inexpensive most days, especially with summer coming. How about getting seeds and planting a garden? You can start the seeds indoors right about now and they'll be ready to go outside in a month or so.
This is a great site, too.

Lots of really good frugal ideas.
I just bought a bunch of stuff to make breakfast burritos with - which is one of my favorite food groups. 24 eggs, a large package of Jimmy Dean sausage, 2 bags of cheese, 1 large tub of red chile, 30 tortillas and 5 pounds of potatoes only cost $22 and change. I figure I'll get at least 25, possibly 30 burritos out of it. I'm assembling them and sticking them in the freezer as one of my projects today.
Just brewed me a fresh pot of Kona coffee.
I figured I needed a little stimulation to keep me awake. Work is slow today, but can not afford any more time off.

Are you in NYC or upstate. Because Fresh Direct deliver almost everywhere in NYC. Not much upstate, though.
there is also a jello with fresh cranberries receipe

Sometimes I chop a little onion and add to the salmon with fresh
parsley. Sometimes I will add just a touch of mustard. Any way I make them they seem to turn out good. I usually just make them with egg white instead of the whole egg, but sometimes will add the egg yolk as well. I love salmon and make it frequently for myself as well.

...finish my thought (a common problem in Chuckville).
Now that I finally have closed on the house (just a month ago) I have a huge yard in which to put in a garden this year (or whenever I get the energy, at least, which may be the 12th of Never the way I'm feeling today, but can't be until about mid May with our short growing season here).
Speaking of lettuce, the local (and only one for about 35 miles in any direction) grocery store here had iceberg lettuce for $3.95 a head the year before last. I kid you not. I coulda plotzed.

EXCELLENT POST! By far the most intelligent one of the whole thread... to you and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Just a thought sm
www.tasteofhome.com has recipes for the category "cooking for a crowd". There are some wonderful recipes there. They are tested by these wonderful cooks before printed in their magazine. Their site is pretty user friendly, colorful, and fun. I love to cook (as well as type) lol!
That is what I thought
also but some people throw things out, like I just saw this on a television show as the truth and I am saying, hold on.... This is something I have heard for years and I mean years, much longer than most efflux of drug users around now days. Thanks for the information.
Just a thought..............sm
A vet of ours down in Florida suggested this to anyone having this problem. She said to wipe the dog OR cat down with a damp cloth.....now there are wipes in the pet section for this. She said the dander on their hair is causing the reaction and if this is done daily, it will keep them from shedding dander that is causing the allergy. There was a spray you could buy in the pet section to damper their coat and then wipe it down, but the wipes have the lanolin stuff on them now. I buy those and wipe down our cat of 18 years, who my daughter said was NOT causing her stuffy nose......he slept on her bed every night. I didn't find the wipes until a few years ago, but she had moved away to college by then....all stuffiness disappeared.
I thought about that too, but
family court records are sealed and it is in another city with the plantiff listed as the State. Hey, if they want to come get me, it would be another interesting war story and another reason to ask for back child support from the dud to help me get out of jail. huh! Gotta find something to laugh about :)
another thought
Babies for adoption instead.. great but remember there are millions of children in the world who need a family Maybe not a baby but a child nonetheless.
Could you look one of these children in the eye and tell them you don't want them, you want a baby?
Here's a thought for you ....sm
make a donation to a charity in their honor. Most charities will not reveal the amount you donated but will send them a card stating a donation was made. You can give what you're comfortable with... $5, $10, whatever.
When we got married last summer we elected to not receive gifts as we were giving away and selling items that were surplus from merging our 2 separate homes. We did advise that family and friends who desired to do something for us could make a donation to a local children's home and many of them did. We talked to the children's home ahead of time so they'd know what we were doing and they were very appreciative of the generosity that people extended. They sent us a list of who contributed money so we would know who to send thank you cards to (they did this also) but never divulged the amounts given which we didn't want to know anyway. This allowed people who desired to give something to do this and we weren't stuck with extra stuff we didn't need around the house.
LOL - another thought.
All my animal children understand "HEY" and "uh oh" and my favorite "Ok now you're in trouble."
Of course they don't understand English, but they sure remember TONE.
My cats destroyed my leather sofa, too - and yes those late night attacks are hard to prevent. Suggestion: If you can afford it, get an inexsensive couch cover that you can cover the couch with whenever... if anything gets destroyed it will be the cheap cover
Oh, thought you mean like I have done now
