At the time, my marriage was at the point of breaking up, and the pregnancy was somewhat of a surprise.
Don't assume you know what is going on in someone else's mind or life - things aren't always straightforward good/bad, right/wrong.
That little beating heart, which now occupies the body of a 20-year-old young man, kept my husband and me together through some very, very rough times. There are many times when we both thought it would be better for each of us to go it alone, and if not for the birth of our son, I am certain we would have parted 20 years ago.
As I said - I support minimal government interference in our lives, so I cannot in good conscience support a law such as the one described. HOWEVER....I would support a law that requires that a woman be given the OPPORTUNITY to have an ultrasound IF SHE DESIRES, whether she can afford it or not. It would be another factor for her to consider when she makes her choice.
