I do not know what state you are in but in Oregon if you would have shown up and shown that you got your renewal they cut the fine well below half. Also the warrant that they issue will only be enforced if they happen to stop you. They have more pressing matters to go after than somewhat with a warrant out for not paying a traffic ticket. Also it takes them 3 days to process it and get it out to the cops on patrol. They will revoke your driver's license which costs more to reinstate than the actual ticket. We also get the opportunity to "write in" and still plead not guility or mail in copies that you did "fix" the problem. They also give you 30 days to pay from the time of appearance. So I guess I am glad that I live in Oregon afterall. And how I know all of this is that my nephew is Captain of Police here. Too bad you live in such a state. Power Outage @ Traffic Intersection
We met during a power failure. He was running a generator to keep the traffic lights at a railroad crossing working (worked for road commission), and I was at my second job doing transcription and trying to find out when the power would be on so I could do my reports and go home. Walked up to the intersection and asked him. He said he would called electric company in about a half hour and check back then. 90 degree heat and humid after hellacious thunderstorms knocked the power out all over the city. I came back and took him a bottle of water, a cookie, and a bag of chips. He said thanks and said it would be about one more hour. He watched me walked back to the building and when the power was on came and told my boss how nice I was and checked the fuse box. Came back two nights later with flowers and asked me out. The rest is history . . . Married five years and still going strong.

Update traffic court/child support
Well, I managed to make it to family court yesterday and back home while flying low :) My son-in-law walked out 5 months in arrears and next payment due 3/1, already in debt for about 2 grand, plus he has to pay for the DNA test (99.999% - ha, didn't need Maury after all!) My daughter is $1500 in arrears with another payment due 3/1, and her order has been moved over into the category to take any Federal Income Tax refunds she gets in the future to be applied to the order. So now, finally, I should have no further court appearances unless the two want to TPR (terminpate parental rights) and let me adopt. The next step for my daughter is jail if she doesn't pay in March, so she is already making noises she might let me adopt. The dud has wanted to me to adopt her all along to avoid CS.
I went to municipal court and had the arrest warrant removed and was given another 2 months to pay the s-t-u-p-i-d ticket. I asked whether the judge would accept that I corrected the tag problem the next day and was told no. If it was expired at the time the ticket was written, then they do not make exceptions. I checked our local newspaper and the city hired 11 new officers in 2006 for the specific purpose of enforcing vehicle/driving codes in the city. They have increased the number of traffic-related tickets issued to almost 18,000 in 2006, up from less than 8,000 in 2004. Now I just have to remember to pay it, but did buy a new day planner today and have written 3 reminders to myself to pay it on time 
On another note, as I have no health insurance and need certain maintenance medications (almost $1000) a month, I found needymeds.com. I have already received a 3-month supply of one drug and will be receiving another each month shipped to my doctor's office. The manufacturers help people who fall between the cracks by providing free medications.

No, just saw my regular doctor a long time back who prescribed one of the ergotamine drugs and I had a bad reaction to it, got extremely cold hands and feet and nearly passed out and thought I was going to die. I could neither lie down nor sit up and got breathless and didn't know if it was serious enough to rush for medical help. Luckily it passed after about an hour, and I never tried it again. The worst part is trying to sleep all through the night for 3 nights with the pain which keeps waking me up. I am not sure if I should visit an ENT doctor or a neurologist or both, seeing how I get two types of headaches every month, one on each side. Am seriously thinking of stopping at least the hair color use so the sinusitis will subside, but the migraine?

I have opened my umbrella in the house quite a bit and nothing bad ever happens. I had a black cat too for 13 years and she passed on, but she was a good companion. Life is life and these things are not going to bring you bad luck, good luck, or anything else for that matter. life is too short.

There was a job opening at a manufacturing warehouse to work in the collections department for $11.50 an hour. I passed that up because it would have been a little bit of a paycut...... but then again, maybe not because for family health insurance I would not have to pay a dime, company covers all. That would be $145 a month that would not be going out. Plus they get retirement, company stock.
I live in a small town. Our hospital is going to VR. They have not said anything about cutting back on employees yet but if they do, I am sure they will keep the better producers..I just thought this was an opportunity to bow out gracefully. I am feeling better than I did yesterday when I first posted.

Look at this way, if the patient is terminal and the meds "might" help, you could spend the time you have left chasing the dream of a cure. I would rather spend the time with my family rather than chasing something that "might" help me.

Does no good to worry- just think what the other alternative is. I really enjoy these "golden years." Just think, this year after reaching 66, my property taxes come down from over 2500.00 to 800.00- I am able to work and still get social security which makes my income twice of what it is before drawing, i get reduced prices in stores, movies, theater and the like, restaurants. I have only 2 slight medical problems, both controlled with medication once a day, basically money situation so much better than when raising a family, do what I like when I like. A wonderful time for me.

He did right by letting it go. If he had wanted to take a stand on it, he could have sent his own flowers and signed them the way he wanted. His brother was being a bit of a jerk by not respecting him, but it wouldn't have been the right time for your friend to dig in and insist.
I think a lot of people feel, consciously or not, that you shouldn't change your own name, that it's somehow disrespecting your parents who gave you that name, and they just won't cooperate. I think all he can do is just keep signing with the name he wants to use and quit answering when they call him the wrong name in person.

I have a kitty that I have written on before, she is a mess. I have had to kittyproof my entire home. She is a streak of gray running through the house, leaping on counters, chairs, dining room table, has broken objects (now I have most put up out of the way). I have done everything and will continue to try what people tell me in order to get her past this kitten stage. I know she will probably outgrow and if I had an animal like yours, would never just turn out- would be trying to find ways to help the cat. Have you checked with your veterinarian to see about medicine for the seizures or is that too much for you to handle? The animal makes a mess because of an illness you are saying, not just trying to do something wrong. I have more compassion in my heart than to just call it a loser.

Nope, you're not alone. Lots of us out here in the
same sad boat. Each of these posts - sounds like a disorder called Borderline Personality Disorder - my mom had it and so did my inlaws - its basically an impossible situation to deal with. These people are actually so insecure and unhappy that they crave love and attention, yet they do everything they can to drive everyone away. The games are beyond description, and hurt so badly as they are so masterfully done. Its one of the few psych disorders that psychiatrists still are in disagreement over regarding IF the BPD person is aware of what they are doing (which I believe they are) versus if they are completely unaware of their games, and thus the consequences. My Mom was horrific - yet to outsiders she looked so sweet. My MIL was the same way, and her husband, my FIL, ended up the same way - perhaps the spouses don't actually have the disorder, yet they are so used to behaving in these twisted ways that they are just as hurtful and evil. Even psychiatrists will recommend that you stay away from these people if you want to have a healthy sane life. There is absolutely NO changing the situation or being in charge of it. Know what I mean? Because nothing makes sense with these people. You try to treat them properly, do everything the right way, but the more you do that, the more they will twist things and make the drama. Hard to explain, but there are a lot of great books on the subject. Things like "I hate you, please don't leave", and another one called something like "Walking on Eggshells"...great helps for those of us trying to understand these sad miserable people. Will be thinking about you. Merry Christmas.

Mine did not come with one either. Below are a few on ebay that might work. I like the last one too because it is round and could be used with one of your larger saucers. Hmm. I did not have S&P shakers either. Believe it or not I use these as my every day dishes. They are very, very durable, but then again I do not have children either. My mother always said, what good is china if you can only use it once a year! They do look lovely at christmas time on a gold charger plate. I also used candles shaped like pine cones and/or pine cones in the center piece. I paint also so I will probably end up feeling sorry for you and paint you one!

but I sure got it right this time, married 7 years and love the ground this guy walks on. Am glad I kept on because you know something, I have found the love of my life and if I had stopped (which thought I would do after the last person died) I would have never known such happiness and bliss.
