No, you are not the only one. I do too.

We have an 11 yo son. He doesn't wear designer jeans, $200 shoes, doesn't have a cell phone, and can only play his video games after homework is done. He also has to be in bed by 9 oclock. And when I get the standard, "but everybody else can _________. (Fill in the blank). My standard reply.....If everybody else jumped into the sea, would you jump too? That kind of shuts him up. He is an only child and as such, does get his way up to a certain point, but after that, he knows not to push. He knows not to back talk, knows we will take away his priviledges if he doesn't do his chores (and he doesn't have a lot, but he has enough), no computer, no video games, no anything. He is a pretty good kid 99% of the time, and I guess I can't complain about the 1% that he isn't.
You need to do what you need to do and to everybody who says different, a great big raspberry. THRRRRRPPPPP.
Just my 2 cents worth.
