In Reply to: How is this kid in school with chronic infestation? School nurse - checks for nits here before kids go back to school

My daughter had them twice. I called the school the first time and was told to bring in a receipt and an empty bottle of Nix, and she could come back to school. How does that prove I used it and she is treated?

Also, I let her teacher know about it, and she told me that this same girl had had it 4 times already that year, but her mother kept sending her on the bus anyway because mom had to go to work and could not afford daycare.

I asked specifically if the nurse had to check my daughter to see if she could come back, and I was told that the nurse does not check anyone, that is the parent's job. I was told that this is school board policy, has always been this way, and is never going to change!

I wish the nurses would check, though. What a headache that would save!
