alcohol, whatever- that means which ever category one fits into, be it alcoholic, drugs, having children you cannot afford and wanting others to take care of, just not up for that. I had 2 children, never had assistance and worked hard to make sure I did have the money it took to raise them. I have said before and say again, I am most interested in helping people or animals out that are in some misfortune, get this now- that is NOT due to their own doings. You can not take drugs, you can not drink alcohol, you can not have a child by taking birth control. All of these are folks own doings and I do not want to pay for other peoples mess-ups. Understand??

I NEVER said anything about how the companies perceive us to be.... where did that come from? Another below posted about the same. I am saying TRANSCRIPTIONISTS here are always complaining because they are not taken as professional, i.e. people calling them expecting them to run errands (being as you are home, others think you don't really have a job), telephone, husbands complaining. I post 1 thing and people talking about something else. It is a constant complaint on this board about TRANSCRIPTIONISTS taken for granted. The companies could care less what you or I either 1 wear.

Animal shelters who take in this breed around here mostly tend to put down because they consider them vicious and unable to be rehomed. The shelters do not want the responsibility of having a dog turn on a person. It is just a fact.

I read that for the younger kids, this is a good time
to explain to them that the characters they love on TV are just that "characters pretending" and they should look to parents, teachers, scout leaders, etc as role models. I am not saying you haven't done that, but I thought it was good advice for the young ones that are disappointed and don't understand.

you and I are from the same neck of the woods. With only a few modifications (the envelope of seasonings instead of keeping them all on hand), this was my grandmother's recipe. She cooked it in a covered pot over the wood stove in the barn while stripping tobacco. The meats and vegies that went in depended entirely on what she had on hand.
And for those of you who want to jump on the "how unsanitary" bandwagon, we had a water pump just outside the barn for washing up before doing anything to the food and had an old fridge just outside the stripping room for drinks and such.

My DH gets bonuses from time to time and they are tax free. I always thought gifts and bonuses were just that, nontaxable, not to mention the tax write off for the company contributing or did that change somewhere over the years?

I worked in the medical records department of a hospital when I was single and dated a few co-workers in my early 30s. It was fun. Nothing serious came about any of the relationships.

It's a neuro condition, it does not mean there is anything at all wrong with you, it is actually related to narcolepsy, hypnagogic (sp? I just got up!) hallucinations, etc. And I HATE when I get these, it is always freaky, my siblings get this too, at times. I can "go away" for years and years before you get another episodes, so don't worry! I heard that when you are under a lot of stress or are very busy with things that this happens more??? Take care!!

My grandmother (who passed away at the young age of 107 back in the mid 1990s) was STILL celebrating every little holiday for all of her many kids and grandkids, and she would STILL give me a chocolate bunny every Easter, as she had since I was a toddler and even though I was 40ish at the time (and I still delighted in biting its head off in front of her, as I had also done since I was a toddler, which always met with mock disapproval from her).

I liked your post. Thanks for replying It's nice to know other people were raised like me. We seem to appreciate the things we have. Oh I should've also said we didn't have A/C growing up. My parents idea of A/C was having my sister and I wave a piece of cardboard in front of them. HA HA HA.
I just couldn't stand the 90s and 2000s are even worse. I hate all the politics going on today, the world events, the bleak future. The degenerates running around, listening to kids talk back to their parents, girls gone wild, etc, etc. I'm grateful my grandparents and mom are not alive anymore to have to go through this with us.
I love watching old movies and the music of the 40s/50s. If I was alive back then I would've been doing the jitterbug and all those other fun dances. Life seemed simpler and cleaner (even though I've got a mouth like a sailer - guess I got that from my Army days).
I wouldn't mind the turn of the century either. I love the clothing and the simple life. Those are the times when the husband took care of the wife. If I could be transported back to the 1800s I surely would in a second.

If we are out in public however, we do not go home. Spanking right there and then and the kids learn REAL QUICK mom means business. I do not mess around and I have a 17-year-old now that has enlisted in the military and THANKS me for his tough upgrowing. It helped him through basic training.

if I roll over too quickly. I have positional vertigo. There is not too much you can do about it except try not to move or get up too quickly from a supine position. I have never had an earache in my life either so that has nothing to do with it. I don't ever feel sick from it though, just more of a nuisance for me every now and then. If it keeps happening obviously get checked out, you may have a more severe case, though again there really not much you can do about it, all it is is some particles in your ear breaking loose and that causes the dizziness, etc.

I keep it in the office part time and on the patio part time
I've got the self-cleaning electric litter box (and boy is it worth the $100), and have a huge throw rug under it with a smaller rug by the litter pan that has a bumpy mat on top of it to catch the excess. I keep it in the office from April to October but on the patio from October to March as it is too hot in FL to leave the patio door open for them during the summer months. I also put out a spare box when we go out of town for the weekend.
Try a box that has deeper sides maybe, or not as much litter in it?

my posts and I seriously wonder how you ever got that I thought surgery was the only way to go when all I said was that some of these reports were *created* by insurance companies who do not want to pay for ANY care concerning carpal tunnel if it was an over use issue. But whatever...that is not what I meant. All I meant was than insurance companies tend to manipulate reports to THEIR benefit, not the patient's. box on your house, anyone can creep into your yard and plug in a computer and go to town. You can put a lock on it, ours looks like a small gray box attached to the house about 8 x 8 inches or so, open it up and you will see phone jacks, it is how the repairmen check the lines, etc. w/o coming inside. Anyone could just run a long line and sit in a car nearby and do it too, but depending on where you live I think this would be noticed. If it happens consistently still check it out, see if some kid/night owl is hacking in this way by getting up in the hours it happens and see if someone is doing this, if so problem solved (call the police obviously if you see this happening); if this is not the case, then maybe take your phone off the hook at night, I would think then they would not be able to hack into it w/o a dial tone. I hope you get this resolved quickly.

Can you read
any words like Budweiser or beer? There is certainly nothing wrong with the draft horses working with a cart, and your kids really aren't going to think "beer" when the look at it. If people are going to be over and might think about it, or if it bothers your husband, maybe there is a wood filling product that could fill in any words that refer to beer or pictures of beer bottles, etc. Maybe you could then use stain or a rosemaling (painting technique) design over it, or whatever would complement the style. It sounds really cute to me.

there should be no drinking age like in Europe. Not that there should be no drinking. My two high school kids went on a school trip to Italy and Greece in April. They said the only teenagers getting obnoxiously drunk were the Americans and the Canadians teens were drinking but not to excess. Also all the Canadian kids smoked cigarettes too.
