Did you see the story on the news where
I think a kindergartener or 1st grader had a mowhawk and after something like 6 months in school they decided it was a distraction and wanted his mother to either cut all his hair off, or be suspended (maybe expelled)? This was totally ridiculous. My kids have never done anything "out of the norm" but I would have definitely went to bat for this kid. It says in our school code that nothing that brings distraction in class is accepted. Like I said, this has not been a problem for us, but I would support someone if they had a legitimate complaint. There is a girl in my children's high school that has what I assume is alopeica. She does her best to wear her hair in a mowhawk but even that doesn't look right. I feel for her but she is there every day not trying to cover it up, just being who she is. I say live and let live. I used to think earrings were "for girls" but then I substituted, and my thinking really changed. As someone else said, "Pick your battles", life could be soooo much worse. If you think he is ready, then go for it.
How about you take your story to the news?
I have seen people appeal to the "court of public opinion" on the news broadcasts and if you can write to your newspaper columnists, send an email to anyone with persuasion on the news that you can get the attention of. You have a right to your due benefits. How about your government representative? Leave no stone unturned. Many stories have been turned around with the help of publicity
start taking it to the public airwaves!! We are all on your side!!!
Just was posting a news story that I
thought some people might be interested in. Believe me, I do not care about him one bit. Cannot stand him. Yes, quite ironic especially since "his book" is out today. Do not plan on reading that either, even though $$ is going to the Goldman Family/Brown Family and/or the children. Not really sure on that one.
Local news story about nurse in ER SM
who was supposed to give patient 800 mg of Dilantin for a seizure and gave her 8000 mg instead, causing cardiac arrest.
The drug came in vials and she had to round up every vial on the floor to give this dose, never questioning it.
Mistakes happen, but this is just too bizarre.

Cops Looking For Little Girl On sex Tape
Second, Older, Girl Identified; Public's Help Sought In Finding 4-5-Year-Old (They are still looking for the 4-5 year old)
There's a picture of her on this site. It's one of the saddest things ever - I hate to even share it because it is so sad, except for the slight chance that someone may recognize her.
PAHRUMP, Nev., Sept. 27, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you know who the girl in the videotape is? If so, please contact the Nye County Sheriff's Department. (CBS)
(CBS/AP) Nevada authorities have identified the second girl found on a videotape that shows sex acts by a man on a girl around 4 or 5 years old.
Funny story...sm
I have 2 teenagers and 1 in college. I get to work in peace most of the time. The biggest emergency I had this spring was when my daughter drove to school early for band practice and her younger brother, who doesn't drive yet, failed to arrange for alternate transportation and then also missed the bus, so I had to stop to drive him to school.
Can't help you, but funny story
My daighter taught my father how to text. He sent one to my neice. she called him right back and was like "UUUHHHH, Papaw.....did you... just... text... me????? If I have to send a text to one of my children, I call one of my nieces (they can keep their phones with them at their school, but my children can't so I will have one of them send a text for them to call as soon as they get out of school and turn their phones on)and have them do it for me.
Got another funny story.......sm
The same DD is now 16 in high school. The other day she came in my office and says mom, where is that "umbilical cord?" I said what thinking my brain was on work and I wasn't hearing her correctly. She repeated it x3. She meant "extension cord" but had just dissected a pig at school!
My other DD is 12 and we were at the baseball game the other day waiting to pick up the 16-yo when I urgently needed to go to the restroom. My 12-yo says use the ones at the concession stand. So I pull up close to the concession stand and there are 2 doors, neither with signs on them. I said which door is the bathroom. She said I don't know I think they both are. I said well which one is the ladies because I don't want to walk in on a man. She says mom it doesn't really matter, everyone goes in them both all the time, it isn't like there is a "uterus" in there anyway. I said a what? She said a "uterus" you know those things that guys stand up and use the bathroom in! Of course, she was talking about a urinal. About the same time as I was explaining what a "uterus" was out comes a lady from the women's restroom and I said oh look there is a uterus in there see! Most all women have them, lol.
Can you tell my kids are exposed to medical terminology? 16-yo is taking A&P classes so we have been going over a lot and I have been helping her to study and learn. I think they are learning too much!
Funny story, please don't think I am trying to offend
When we finally told my 86yr old grandfather (a very old-fashioned man from a very smal town) that my cousin was marrying a black girl he was totally fine with it, Thank heavens! Then the next day another relative asked him how he felt about "John" marrying a black girl, and he started saying "Black? Black? I thougt they said blind". Once he finally realized what was actucally going on he was still fine with it. I say if you are happy, then please continue to be happy. There is just not enough happiness in this world right now.
Sorry no advice...but funny story-
my husband went to sit in a meeting at work and everyone immediately smelled a really terrible odor in the room. After around 15 minutes they just couldn't stand it anymore and they began to check things out. One guy opened a drawer of a desk and found an old bacteria-infested Caeser salad in the drawer! They said from the looks of it, had been there a while. I about died laughing when he told me that story. Anyway, old food can get nasty...the fact that it was a used refrigerator who knows. Maybe something got into somewhere and is multiplying.
Hope you find out what it is and it gets resolved! :)
No advice but another funny story
My daughter bought a brand new stainless steel fridge and before too long it really started stinking up the joint. She called the repairman who came out and spent quite a long time and finding nothing wrong. He told her maybe it was something in the fridge itself, but she poo-poo'd this 'cause she's such a meticulous person, but not wanting to be rude she dutifully started looking, and came upon a bowl of old moldy beans, yep - darn right gassy. Boy, was she mortified.
Funny story from Ohio
Seems there was a kitty loose, causing traffic woes ... see link
that reminds me of a funny story sm
Remember back in the day when flip flops were called thongs?
Well, my daugher (she was about 15 or so) and I were shopping with one of her friends and she said something that was funny, but 'back in the day' my mom would not find it humerous. I told her that she was lucky because, 'my mom would have reached back, took off her thong, and slapped me with it.' She looked at me in horror and her friend in disbelief... It finally dawned on me what they were thinking and after I stopped laughing hysterically, I explained... ahh... the good ol' days!
Telling a funny story on myself
My foot pedal got stuck just now. I got it unstuck (and realized just how dusty my floor is!), but then it wouldn't play. I'm messing around and messing around with it and it will won't play. Crap, right? I can't afford another one until pay day on the 5th, and at that point I've lost 5 more days into the new pay period.
Well, duh. Somehow I've managed to close the browser window that my voice player is in. Of course the foot pedal won't work. There's nothing to play.
Where's the slapping the back of the head smiley when you need one??!?!
Have to share a funny story about my parents sm
My parents are vacationing in Florida right now and yesterday while laying by the pool the saw a duck swimming in the pool. The pool area had a fence around it and they didn't want the duck to get stuck in the area. My mom described how ridiculous they must have looked chasing this duck around the area and trying to shoo it out the gate. Finally a man on an upper balcony said "Sir, you realize that duck can fly don't you?". I swear my parents are a hoot! Chop this one up for dumb and dumber.
Funny, that's my exact same story here in New York! sm
I'll believe it when I see it, too. Also, with the feds, we were supposed to get $1,200 back - the feds said there was a mistake in the filing and now we OWE $1,100. That's some mistake, but we can't find it, nor can the software company that we used!
Kinda funny story - company had to close doors temporarily because (sm)
someone (I think immigration) came to visit personnel at that company and found over 30 illegals using the same social security number. I guess that company didn't save much on that little venture.
See, I knew if I posted after the noon news it would be different after the evening news! LOL nm

Much news
Thanks for asking. CJ had an ultrasound, which confirmed the pneumothorax but they could not find any tear or other reason for it. Because they had serial chest x-rays (yay me) and now the Doppler, they are confident there is NO LUNG CANCER. They were therefore good to perform thoracentesis, and this released 3 liters of air (wow). CJ is now resting much more comfortably. They will check for any re-accumulation of air at 5:00 and release anything they find, and if all goes well, we can pick him up at 5:30. Then we will hope that his body is able to heal. There will be rechecks. We will be tapering off the prednisone but give him doxycycline to prevent infection. Pretty good compared to thinking we were going to have to put him to sleep, eh??
I will attempt to get some money back from that first vet. Turns out the pneumothorax was clear as day on that FIRST chest x-ray, the one they only took because I was so insistant he couldn't breathe.
Prayers are appreciated!
I saw this on the news also
And was wondering the same dang thing. People do not use their heads for some reason. And then go on TV and expose their stupidity...not me! If a psychiatrist asked me to pull up my shirt, I'd lay him out and leave...then call the cops.
Wow. So much. First of all, I'm sorry for this news. Awfully sorry. sm
I can't imagine that kind of diagnosis.
After being severely depressed most of my life and then finding God (please don't move this to the religion board), I have determined in my heart and mind to live life to the fullest each and every day. I play lots of board games with my kids, call my mom, keep scrapbooks and journals, teach 2 classes at our church, and I study the Bible avidly.
I try to show love and kindness to every person in my life. Whenever I'm with others, I try to make it a point to listen twice as much as I talk and show genuine care and concern. I call people I haven't seen much in church to check up on them. I pray for people all the time. I take long, hot showers. When I am off work, I actually don't work! I can go on and on and on. I don't want to think of "if I only had so many days left," because I know that tomorrow may be the day I die. I don't want to waste any of it right now.
I am aspiring to be a speaker and travel the country giving my testimony, writing books, and encouraging women (especially depressed women) that THERE IS AN AWESOME PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE. You just have to find out what it is and live it. Every day.
I saw this in the news also. They say that one
of the things that may have helped save his life is that workers like this are taught what to do and how to brace their body in case of a fall. I can't imagine I would have my wits about me enough to remember what I was taught. This truely is amazing and definitely the work of the Lord.
News to me
Riley Children's Foundation -Riley Hospital for Children is my choice. :)
I saw this on the news the other day...how sad
they let out child molsters and rapists at the drop of the hat but it's a big deal to let this guy out long enough to see his daughter. what a sick society we live in.

BREAKING NEWS
updated 11 minutes ago
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - A spokeswoman for screen legend Paul Newman said Saturday that the actor had died at age 83.
Spokeswoman Marni Tomljanovic said Newman died Friday of cancer. No other details were immediately available.
Newman was nominated for Academy Awards 10 times, winning a regular Oscar in 1987 for "The Color of Money" and two honorary ones. He was equally at home in comedies such as "The Sting" and dramas such as "Hud."
So sad. What a handsome man he was.
This is old news....
Rachel Maddow, news reporter of MSNBC just came out.
i am sorry for the news...
but, you may well be right on 2 counts -- that it may work out for the best (rather than tragedy on vacation) and life IS good -- (not was) -- your vacations can just come a bit later!! God bless.
sad news
Nip/Tuck, my all time favorite medical show is getting cancelled. I wish they had worked in a story about McNamara Troy dealing with a loony MT! Anyone else have a favorite doc drama?
bad news
I know how this can be as I have an overbearing hubby when it comes to finances. Personally, I would wait until he is in that "chatty" kinda good mood and then say I have something to tell you and dont freak out!!
Have you guys seen the news...
about the alert and info on the 9-month-old? People just blow my mind with some of the things they pull these days!!!
Wonderful news
What great news! I'm so happy to hear that you have a healthy baby. Good luck. It's too bad your first doctor had to scare you like that.

news on Cho....notified NBC between 8-9 a.m.
Reuters, with files from National PostPublished: Wednesday, April 18, 2007
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The gunman who went on a rampage at Virginia Tech university sent a "rambling" and "disturbing" account of his grievances to NBC between the first killing, when two people died, and his slaughter of 30 others, the network said Wednesday.
MSNBC, an affiliate of NBC, said the material included video and a multi-page statement. It said the broadcaster handed the material to the FBI.
In Monday's rampage, the worst in modern U.S. history, a man and a woman were killed in a student dorm in the first shooting while the others were shot in a classroom building on the campus about two hours later.

The gunman, a student identified by the university as Cho Seung-Hui, then shot himself dead.
The correspondence with NBC was confirmed by Steven Flaherty, the Virginia state police superintendent, who told reporters at the university: "Earlier today NBC news in New York received correspondence that we believe was from Cho."
He said it included "photographs, video and multiple writings."
MSNBC said NBC officials would not disclose the contents of the material pending the FBI’s review.
According to a report on MSNBC.com, the package was time-stamped in the two-hour window between Monday's shootings and sent to NBC News head Steve Capus. Capus told the news Web site that Cho talks to the camera in the videos, vaguely referring to the shootings in one instance and stating that "This didn't have to happen."
Police feel the package may represent "a very new, critical component of this investigation," Capus added

well, appears that he wanted minutes of fame (by his notifying NBC in between the two shootings, making it premeditated for sure).....very sad....
God Bless Them All.....
Good news!!
IT ISN'T BEDBUGS!!!
We had the exterminators over and they said they have extensive experience treating bedbugs, in fact they are fighting them at a local hotel right now along with a number of private homes.
They didn't see any evidence of bedbugs and they said the marks on my husband don't look like bedbug bites at all. They suggested that he see his doctor, which he is going to do.
Woohoo!! I am sorry my husband is suffering, but we are both GLAD it isn't bedbugs.
That IS good news! Now he can come in
