We gave our children subscriptions for Christmas and it is working out great. Even my 14yr old is being responsible enough (and should be, but isn't always) to keep the envelope and get the movie back in it and in the mailbox and within 2 days she has a new movie. This time of year we have a lot of snow days so it has been a lot of fun.

Really like Netflix
I never rented many movies either just because of the hassle of drving 15 minutes to the store and back, all the new releases always being rented, plus smelling like a cigarette after being in there for 10 minutes.  I do the 2 at a time/unlimited plan, which runs about $15 a month.
Netflix
Mainly because we've been with them for years. They do have an EXCELLENT selection, especially of little-known and obscure movies. My son is a big anime fan, and they have a huge anime selection.
Netflix
Multiple levels of membership, you can change as often as you like, say if one month you will be going away for a couple of weeks you can change to a cheaper/less movies membership, and then back to more the next month, and so on.

As the other poster said, a huge selection and rarely any kind of wait even on the new releases.

They also now have *watch now* videos you can watch on line included free with your membership.

And they are so FAST! I just put 2 in the mail Monday morning and got 2 more today (Wednesday).

Lately I have been renting a lot of TV shows I didn't get a chance to watch the first time around. I just watched a couple of seasons of Desperate Housewives in a row. What fun!

I've not tried Blockbuster as I've been with Netflix a long time. But no reason to switch IMO.
We did Netflix a few years ago too.

Absolutely no problems with them at all.  Only stopped subscription because there was just no time to watch them all.  I'm wicked rural and the closest movie rental store is maybe 45 minutes away and there is no Blockbuster for a good 200 miles believe it or not.

Even our little po-dunk post office (so po-dunk we have to share it with another town!) has a special "Netflix" slot!  I thought it was hilarious considering an awful lot of folks 'round here think any sort of technology has to be the devil's work.

netflix question

When they advertise instant movies over the internet, does anyone know if you actually download these or if this is a constant "streaming" of the movie?  thanks for your help!

Netflix -- fast. Love it.

Netflix gift subscription
Netflix offers gift subscriptions in monthly increments...pretty cool. The only thing is, the subscription will continue unless the recipient cancels before the time is up.
Netflix is great, many different levels of membership
some as low as 9.99 per month. Check it out.
My DH also works for post office, but hates Netflix (sm)
His job is to keep all those post office machines running, and he says those Netflix envelopes jam them up!
If you have a Netflix account, you can watch online for free.
The membership is fairly cheap. My husband and I have one and watch movies online on their site all the time.
