My sentiments exactly - dump him
because he probably will not get better and as stated, will jump from one addiction to another. It took me 10 years to finally see that things were never going to change. I was left a shell of a person and blamed myself because I could not "help" him. Took a long time through counseling that it was not me. I am now living a happy, peaceful life - not one full of uncertainties, stress, crying, screaming, low self-esteem, oh I can go on and on.

about the 'getting jealous' part. But I would not say that it is a sign of being selfish, more of getting possessive, because losing this person would leave a void in your life.
