for our birthdays after we all moved out, not saying we stopped celebrating at 18, just did not have the cake and famiy dinners anymore once everyone moved out. If we were home at the time she take us shopping and let us pick out something we wanted for our birthday, ususally something we needed but could not really afford (or something we wanted but could not justify buying for ourselves, or afford to). She bought my older brother some really nice suits one year for his birthday. She always mailed a card, usually Peanuts, my mom loved Snoopy. I lived at home for a while after college so I celebrated it with my mom every year until I got married basically. I wish I'd kept her cards, I am sure I have some but no clue where they are. After she died I found in a drawer every mother's day card I had ever given her, pretty cool and a trip down memory lane.
